It's probably worth it, just for the Pearl upgrade (free parking and buffet line pass), if you can't earn Pearl from your play. There's no annual fee, so it's just another piece of plastic in your wallet (better off spending your money with other cards that give you cash back, I think). Don't know how long they will give Pearl if you never use your card.

+1. I played at the Rio, Planet Hollywood, Venetian, M Resort, Palace Station and Binion's, but intentionally avoided Aria and all other MGM-owned resorts this year.

Well folks, it finally happened, just saw the aria garage entry shut down a lane because a manual car rolled back into the car behind it. Was pretty much a matter of time before that huge design flaw reared its head.

I was wondering about this. I've parked there several times and people are constantly coming up too close behind me. A lot of people just have a habit of doing that.

I always leave a lot of room and I never drive my manual car to the strip if I know I might play at aria. I've seen a car roll back 4 ft and then light the tires up in smoke lol

Ive had my mgm card for some time now, but have not tried it as yet because I can still NV resi the parking and its much easier. I am not even sure how I would use the mgm black for parking. There doesnt seem to be a way as far as I have noticed.

^ It's very easy, you just slide your player's card into the slot when you enter the garage, and again when you leave.

Are you talking about the Mastercard CC that gets you auto-Pearl or do you have a Noir card? Because Noir card obv should have VIP parking that bypasses all BS

I have a NV license and a platinum card. Neither of them worked at the gate on the way out from Mandalay Bay. Very frustrating as I had to wait there and some employee on a cart had to manually open the gate with their card.

There is already a thread here about CET charging.

I couldn't find this thread when I posted the CET one. That being said...

Does MGM still plan on charging locals at the end of the month? (CET isn't doing this in 2017 for now)

MGM also hinted that rates will increase for NYE and other 'special event'. Anybody hear anything about this with NYE approaching?

fwiw, if you bought MGM stock when this parking stuff started you're doing quite well.

So much for those in this thread that claimed that the whole pay for parking at MGM was a huge failure and that they were going to discontinue it by the end of year.

Well, it's definitely a failure in terms of "customer experience", which is what they claimed was their reason for doing it.

At the Bellagio there is now usually a line to get in and out, and the card scanners / ticket machines are so difficult to use that they have to have an employee at entrance and exit at all times to help customers with them, sometimes two at each place.

The spike in stock has more to do with the MGM Grand opening soon in National Harbor, MD about 5 minutes outside of Washington, DC. A huge property in one of the most wealthy populated metro areas per capita in the country.

That new casino has been in the works for years. Why would it suddenly cause stock price increase?

It opens in less than a week.

Yes, I know it is opening soon, but I still don't know why that should be affecting stock prices if that's not really "news".

This made me look something up for that place:

"Valet parking will be available 24-hours per day. Rates will be $25 for up to 12 hours, $45 for 12-24 hours."

So Vegas still is a value then.

In addition to that, so much for the idea that this was a great opportunity for Caesars to put up signs saying "free parking" and that Caesars would go that route.

I noticed that Hooters has decided to do that, but it was really hard for me to believe that Caesars would resist the temptation to charge. It sounds like Caesars has been thinking about doing this for two years now, which is well before MGM first made the announcement about charging for parking.

That's kinda built in, perhaps if their revenue projections are too low it'll help them out. Their Vegas business is booming thanks to PGP, the booming US economy / convention business and Macau has flat-lined / shown some positive numbers which helps the prospects for their new hotel opening in the spring.
