Memorial Day Weekend Thread...Want Cabana?

Hey, myself and 2 buddies are going to Vegas (all 3 of us are super vegas regulars). We have a comped room at Flamingo, but can't get our cabana comped. They are priced at 900 (before tip) for Saturday, May 26. We are regular guys...will definitely be betting on the NBA games that day, drinking a lot, and we always bring our original Nintendo (which we plan on hooking to the TV in the cabana). We'll be having a Tecmo Bowl Tournament.

Anyways, anyone want in? $1100 just seems like a stupid price to pay for shade and a TV. We'll probably pay it regardless, that may end up being nothing more than a double down hand of BJ if we drink enough, but still.

So, taking a stab at this here...if anyone wants in (2-4 guys or girls okay). We are early 30s, white, single/ except the tall idiot- he is engaged. Laker fans...except the tall idiot..he is a Clipper fan.

Figured this wasn't enough for a thread, so, maybe this can open up other Memorial Day topics.

-I plan on playing the WSOP 1500 on that Monday, but I guess that will depend on the first couple of nights of the trip.

The 1100 is for a cabana at their "over 21" pool and includes a bottle of vodka, just to be more clear.

Original Tecmo Bowl (Bears) or Tecmo Bowl II (49ers/Giants) are you guys gonna be wagering on the TB tourney? Nothing major, but enough to make it slightly interesting. I was thinking on going earlier that week for the poker promo tourney Rio is running for table games players, usually like to stay longer than the crowd I go with, so could stay through weekend. but................... the Q needs to be answered, I or II? major difference here lol

We have been playing II (Tecmo SUPER Bowl) for the past couple of trips....the Giants won our last couple of real championships...we'll draw cards to pick teams. We have also done tourneys where we eliminate the top 10 teams. I won that one (The Trop Bowl) w/ the Broncos.

We'll definitely wager something. We usually joke that last place has to sleep outside, but have yet to enforce that one. Anyways, money yes, and we'll set spreads, etc.

What were you hoping for - II or I?

Also, we probably aren't even that good. I personally only started playing that game last year.

II is def the correct answer lol. I haven't played it but once or twice since I wasted precious homework time lol. Sounds like you have a good crowd, I have played a lot with Harrahs properties and might could get a deal if possible through host. I did the cabana thing for the first time a few weeks ago at Liquid/Aria and it was awesome. I am 35 white/straight male and sounds like I would get along well with y'all. Probly only 25% chance of me being there but if I am will def go in with you guys if its still available

I'll be in town memorial day and plan on playing 1.5k monday event as well. no interested in the cabana though it does sound super fun. plan on relaxing on the strip sat night and then grinding sun-wed.

Yeah, cabanas are awesome. Definitely makes for a fun day. I'm gonna call today and see if Friday (may 25th) is any cheaper. Arthur,definitely let me know if u are around then. Would be fun to have more for the Tecmo tourney..

how hot are the girls going to be in view? i got a comped room flamingo from 25th thru 29th as well, never been to the pool area on any of my trips

Booked cabana for Friday instead...saved a few hundo.

Girls...I'm not entirely sure. I'm thinking decent to good. I would expect a high amount of college girls around; Flamingo is a pretty girly looking hotel and the pool area is really nice...tons of palm trees, water falls, etc. I would think that stuff attracts the ladies, but being that the hotel is older could hurt although its much more affordable for them to stay at.

Seems like an awful deal. You're basically paying a $500 cabana fee and getting a bottle.

Most hotels will do a food and beverage minimum. Same price more value.

Bumping for Memorial Day weekend. We'll be there...might muster up some energy for a trip report...hoping to make enough money to enter the 1500 nl coming up.

JayLV...yeah, I agree with you. I haven't actually seen the food and beverage minimum deal- which pools do that or is it like literally all of them? I didn't ask, though...they also never offered that arrangement even though I walked away from the deal 3-4 times before agreeing. You would think they would have...right?
