Even got it up to $725, but tourney hadn't started yet so I kept playing until it almost did. Cashed out for $675, in for $40. Tourney was fun, some players had never played before, so shaky hands all over the place. No succes for me though. Didn't play really well at the end either.
Then went to checkin to try the $20 trick. Took a while because my three nights were booked separately and he had to put them together. When he asked for credit card I asked for an upgrade and had the bill folded and at an angle underneath so the 20 was visible. He just took the credit card from the counter and left the bill there. When I got the room keys he also didn't say anything about moving me to a specific room, so I asked if he found a good upgrade. He then said I got a nice view of the strip and I would definitely like it. So not sure if it is an upgrade but gave him the bill anyway. They did charge me the resort fee, but staying here for three nights for a little over $100 total isn't to bad, right?
Kept it really short. Still very tired and tomorrow morning I have a very interesting breakfast meeting I really want to be awake for. So in for 200, out for 240.
I got sat at a new table with turned put to be a good one. Especially when a someone very new to the game sat down. Open betting 40 in a limped pot or betting the flop small and then open folding the turn we're no exception. So when the lady two yo his left moved to the other side of the table I quickly moved to that seat. Only got one real hand of interest against him where he open raised to 20, I call w JJ. He bets the low flop 20 and I call. Turn is a J and he only bets 10. He had been calling bets quite liberally so I figured he would call a raise. Unfortunately he didn't.
After he left I had one more hand of interest where I raised 99, got one caller and then the same lady that moved seats raised allin for $55 making the I'm strong face. So she has AK and therefore I call. Unfortunately an A hit.
Shortly after I quit to go have dinner, down about $170.
Hope David Copperfield puts up a good show tonight to soften the pain.
Just got back from David Copperfield. The illusions were absolutely great, too bad he was auto piloting through it. Often times hard to understand because he was rattling of his lines without any intonation. Glad I didn't save this show for last.
Played for quite a while at Venetian until the game got a bit thighter and then figured I should make this trip report full circle by actually playing at the Mirage.
Played for about two hours and about three playable hands, so to losely quote Worm:"you know what? Fu and your never ending string of crap hands. ". Quit the game even after I made a horrendous fold.
Checked out and ready to go to the airport. It has been a fun two weeks with a lot of great experiences.
I would have liked to play some more poker, the games I played in seemed very soft and felt almost the same as the limit games I played in ten years ago, 6-7 players to the flop and all. Unfortunately, I'm not very good myself so didn't really know how to take advantage of it other than waiting for good cards and those didn't come very often this trip. It does make me want to work on my game so I am better prepared if I ever come here again.
Some highlights:
- fitting right in with the OMCs at Sam's Town
- hitting four deuces at videopoker (although that may have caused me to play the game a bit to much, I'm in the red for the game)
- MacKing
- meeting lots of local people and some 2+2 ers
- all the free rooms I got to stay in and the view from the room at Mandalay Bay
Biggest highlight of course the performance I got to do for a group of business people.
All in all a great trip experience wise, even though financially I had hoped for a nice poker score. Maybe next time.
I had seen P&T ten years ago and most of the things they did where in the show back then as well, so in that sense it was a bit disappointing. But they were good bits and the new parts were also very good with some good surprises in there. So if you haven't seen them before it's a very good show.
I could have seen it for free by the way. I collected points with social rewards before I went on a trip and those could be converted to totalrewards points. I had about $100 worth but I forgot about it until after the show. It will take you some time to get those kind of points, but if you don't mind that it's a nice way to see them for free.
