Ratings should all be electronic- for sure CZR has software for all that so I don't buy that he was doing ratings by phone.

But he coulda called up to surveillance to see what your avg bets were like if you were playing big and varying your bet at all.

So I'd say it depends on how much you like walking and how little you care about heat.

If you're British don't even think about it. If you're from Alabama, like me, and are used to Southern summers it's a walk in the park. LVL FAQ, Quick Questions, General Vegas Discussion, Etc

Where is the closest proper gym on the strip? (A place that I can deadlift). I am staying at the Wynn for 10 days (Possibly more). Recommendations please.

Will Uber drivers drop me off at the Convention Center if I specifiy "The Rio" or is there another destination address I should use?

Thanks for any info..
For anyone in town for the Series who is using Uber, I just got the lowdown from a buddy who was just there.

He said the Uber driver told him in the future to specifically put "Rio Convention Center" as the destination, and not just "Rio Hotel and Casino".. makes sense..

Airport to Palms Place: do I need to tell the taxi driver anything specific to avoid being long hauled?

No clue but why would you take a Taxi rather than Uber or Lyft? No smartphone?

My wife travels for business and she hates Uber/Lyft.

For women traveling alone, they aren't as safe nor as predictable as licensed taxis.

Her company pays for all expenses, so she doesn't care about the cost.

I bet these reasons are very common.

For us in Las Vegas, going from casino to casino, obviously Uber is a no brainer..

You can go Swenson to Trop to Arville, or you can go Swenson/Paradise to Flamingo, but I'd go the former.

It will be a few minutes faster to take the highway - if I were driving, that's what I'd do. But it's a few miles shorter to take surface roads, and you're effectively paying by the mile in a cab.

I'd just say "Palms Place. Tropicana to Arville."

You could say "no tunnel" or "no highway" and the message will be clear but a lot of cabbies get defensive about that since you're basically saying "don't longhaul me."

If I come out of the Aria, near the cab stand at the poker room, and take a cab to the Gold Coast; is it possible to take a right turn out of the Aria and travel up Tropicana and cut across to the Gold Coast along a back road ?

I ask this as its difficult to take a left and go up Las Vegas Blvd., and then take a left up Flamingo . Had this happen about midnight and there were marginal holes for the cabbie to take a left out of the Aria without running risk of an accident. Thanx.

Yes, you could go up Valley View, but there would be no reason to not take the 15 if you went down to Trop. If I were the cabbie, I'd take that god-awful left too -- it's a lot shorter.

Can you get a cab on the other side by the front desk? Not sure I remember if there's a stand/uber pickup there. If you go that way you can take Harmon west and then Aldebaran to Dean Martin and up behind the Rio. Avoids the strip altogether.

Yeah, but that night the cabbie wanted to go right instead of left and I told him to go up las vegas blvd and we squeezed in. He wasn't trying to scam me for i could see that trying to take that left turn against traffic wasn't going to happen. The lights caused the exit to be blocked but we managed. Going with traffic seem to be reasonable or right to Trop and then up Trop.

The cab stand right outside the poker room; is that north or south or what ? I think that is a valet stand. ??

We never did find out why this poster is taking a cab in 2017. Quite strange really.

Because some people don't care about a couple dollars, especially if it's not their money anyway. What's so difficult to understand about that?

I also know of companies that don't allow their employees to use their company credit card on any kind of mobile app, which includes Uber.

This is helpful especially for ride sharing. the North valet is on the other side of the casino from the poker room. Just outside the poker room is a cab stand which is terribly convenient especially at 2 in the morning. But hey, I wouldn't want to obstruct the wheels of the bean counter milieu.

In any case , taking a left out of the cab stand can be difficult which led to my original question which was answered. Thanx again.

And for those who didn't know: Arriving at the Aria have the driver go beyond the main registration(around the circle) and just go up about a tenth of a mile (2 seconds) and you'll see the taxi egress and just short is your drop off for poker. go through the glass doors and you're there.

Strip avoidance:

You can reach the back roads behind Aria via the regular cab stand (the one in front of the hotel) rather easily, but the cabbie has to know how. Basically you go back through the garage- which is a right turn just past the cab stand- and it will take you back to Frank Sinatra.

Uber/Lyft aren't as convenient on the strip as they are in other cities and can be wildly more expensive. I had a 5x surge last year trying to leave Mandalay Bay and there was zero line for a taxi. (Tech conference was ending) Easy choice.

Does anyone have recommendation on places to get a decent haircut off the strip? (No Fantasic Sams or whatever)

Used the one downtown Henderson and it was fine. Haven't tried the Fremont St location.

The watermelon juicer at Bellagio isn't working and now they are serving a not-fresh version from a jug. That's per a cocktail waitress. Another said she thinks they are going to stop serving the fresh version entirely and just permanently move over to the jug stuff.

my response was: "But this is the Bellagio!"
her reply: "Yeah, I know, right!?!"

I'm a huge fan of watermelon but watermelon juice has got to be the most overrated drink ever.
