No of course not. You can go and buy anything (non-dangerous) and bring it back to your room.

Hell... you can bring hookers and blow back to your room. Your danger level may vary, but as long as you don't bother other guests, the hotel could care less.

That's not entirely true, I've seen people stopped by security trying to bring cases of beer up. It will depend on the hotel and the level of security (obviously more likely anywhere that has security at the elevators). Classier joints don't want a bunch of frat boys partying in the rooms.

I would hope buzz12586 would be discreet. Yes certainly if your hauling in a few cases of beer with your buddies drinking, behaving badly and making a scene, looking like your going to disturb other guest and do the hotel damage, then security will say something. They may even say you can't bring in the Alcohol, but what they really are saying is don't do that. Don't misbehave.

In summary just bring in a few beers, keep them covered, don't make a big show of it and don't misbehave. You'll be fine.

Are there any threads on being thrifty while being a low stakes grinder?

OK just a general WTF. How on planet earth is Caesars Palace regularly more expensive than Cosmopolitan and Bellagio? It is a total POS hotel.

On a slightly less outrageous note, how is Venetian/Palazzo getting away with WynnCore rates? Like, the rooms are nice but I don't get how they command like $100 a night more than Bellagio/Cosmo.

CP isnt any good? I'm staying there for four nights on my first Vegas trip >< I thought it was one of the nicer hotels with decent poker action.

it's a decent hotel but their rates are way overpriced given the competition at that price point

poker room has constant 1/3 action and lots of tournaments. you won't find higher stakes outside of the occasional 2/5 game

Caesars Palace is is Harrahs' competitor to MGM's Bellagio... Marketed to the older crowd with a little more money.

As for Cosmo, different type of hotel targeting the younger crowd that enjoys partying.

Just compare what clubs, restaurants, and boutique stores each have... And theirs your answer.

Caesars Palace has been coasting on name recognition for decades. They think that since they once were the truly premium place in town that they still are, even if they don't stack up to the actual premium places (and they don't, in any respect). They can get away with it since apparently there are still enough old guys in Cadillacs who think it's still 1975 and that Caesars is the only place worth staying at.

As for Venetian/Palazzo being priced like Wynn/Encore...that definitely isn't always the case, but when it is it's because they can.

This. CP is full of Paulie Walnutses waxing nostalgic for the Dean Martin roasts. It is so weird with the Pussycat Dolls thing and Pure and then old sunburned people everywhere.

it's also the top tier hotel for CET, so i assume the players in the highest levels of comps are staying there for free.

For those who have seen a few Cirque shows, which is the best in terms of action, lights and/or acrobatics?

I'm not really a fan of theater, song and dance.

Is there one I can tolerate for an hour or two to make my wife happy?
