The Fashion Show Mall is a short walk or cab ride from the Mirage.
There are "outlet" malls, for example Tanger Outlet Center on LV Blvd & Warm Springs, but few "outlet" stores actually have discounted prices. The Fashion Show Mall features a food court, and -fashion shows-. Every so often someone pushes a button, and a runway magically pops out of the floor and models walk back and forth on the runway. When the fashion show is over, the runway magically disappears back into the floor.

Glad I read this thread now as the above will help the fiancee not waste time with going to an outlet mall the next time we're in Vegas.

Wasn't talking about the Nevada stretch, was referring to the agricultural checkpoint outside of Barstow.

There's one close to downtown, just north of Charleston and another on LV Blvd south of Mandalay Bay. Neither should be more than a $15-20 cab ride. The one downtown is the nicer one.

Re: LVL FAQ, Quick Questions, General Vegas Discussion, Etc
I found a Nevada State Bank branch located on Las Vegas Blvd (the strip.)
How is Nevada State Bank? The pros the cons of banking with them?

A google search shows a branch of Nevada State Bank, at 230 Las Vegas Blvd.
Not sure how 'on the strip' that really is though.
How 'on the strip' is that? What major casinos is it near?
At the very least it has to be closer to the casinos then most banks, I would assume.

It's downtown, not on the strip. LV Blvd goes from way-the-hell north to wayer-the-hell south. Only a small hunk of it is "The Strip". But it's still easy to get to on the bus. And apparently (I did not know this until I just visited nsbank.com) the ATMs at Walgreens are NSBank.
I picked NSBank for a local account when I moved here based on "Gee...they have branches in Smiths grocery store and when I asked the realtor she said she hadn't heard anything bad about 'em." They no longer have branches in Smiths. But they've done fine.
Only "incident" I had with 'em was an inactivity charge I got once. I called and asked "wassup--I've been in in person at least a couple times the last 12 months". They explained that cashing a check doesn't count. I explained "you asked for my account number and verified I was a customer--how can that NOT count when you required my account number?" "It just doesn't--you should have deposited 1 cent and taken the rest in cash--then it would have counted." I said "refund it, please." She said "we don't do that--inactivity fees are not refundable." I said "tell ya what... take my request back to your bosses and have them review my account and decide if you want to keep me as a customer and lemme know." I got a call the next day saying "$10 back has been credited back to your account".

Re: LVL FAQ, Quick Questions, General Vegas Discussion, Etc
Hey folks,
Trying to find a way to rent a "luxury" SUV at a reasonable price. Ideally it'd be cool to rent a Range Rover for 8 days without it being $millions. I would need unlimited miles since it is for a trip to Death Valley, Zion, and Yosemite.
I found a Mercedes GLK350 for like $700 which didn't seem terrible but not sure how much I like those. Any suggestions or tips?
Thanks!

1. Reserve an economy car at Budget.
2. They will be out of economy cars and you can then grudgingly agree to upgrade to a Suburban, Tahoe, or Yukon, all of which they have in abundance, for $10-15 over the Economy rate you were quoted.
3. The above SUVs are plenty luxurious, and you will impress anybody you need to impress unless you are a Hollywood movie bigwig and all your friends drive Range Rovers.

Re: LVL FAQ, Quick Questions, General Vegas Discussion, Etc
I had a question about game selection. I know that it is a general casino question, but I ask it in LVL, in case the rules are a bit different in LV casinos then they are in other areas of the country.
Can I bypass the receptionist desk when I first enter the casino, go straight to milling around the floor watching tables, checking out the games, and then once I have picked out a few games that look particularly juicy, go back to the receptionist and put my name on the list for those, and only those, specific tables?
I've never played in a casino anywhere in this country. I've played at casinos and cardrooms in the Philippines and WAS able to do it this way, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to do it like this in the U.S. (specifically in Vegas,) or not.
Can I?
If not, what is the best way to go about getting a seat at the table you want to sit at?

Not a good plan. They might actually try to accommodate you, but any existing player will have preference if they want a table change so you could end up waiting a while for a seat at your preferred table(s). Best choice is to take the first open seat, and tell them immediately to put you on the table change list and tell 'em where you want to go. If you end up liking your table, stay. If you don't like it, just fold everything but the blinds and wait for the seat change while you enjoy free-for-a-tip intoxicating beverages.

Re: LVL FAQ, Quick Questions, General Vegas Discussion, Etc
How bad is IP? I am looking at visiting July 3rd-8th and can stay there for $65. That is for a deluxe room. The other alternatives are Bally's South Tower Classic for 120 or North Tower Classic for $300.
