Re: General Vegas Discussion/Questions/ETC - Post your quick questions here

So that website that tracks the success of the $20 tip at checkin says it is only about 50% successful at MGM grand and most of the successes are in my opinion not that successful.

Has anyone tried this there? I am going to be there 5 days and thinking of switching it up to the $50 or 100 since it will go over a weekend. (W-Sun nights).

Anyone think this will help?

Most play will likely be during the day with a few hours thrown in post-midnight when I can slip it in and I will probably stick to no limit.

I am considering throwing in some dead money for a Venetian noon tourney ($150) and/or the Wednesday Treasure Island Bounty tourney ($125). Any others I should be considering that might play well for a weak tight nit?

Also, what is a reasonable amount of cash to bring strictly for low limit poker for 6 days? $1,500ish cover it?
Try Caesers. A very nice room with a $70 tournament and a 50 seat max. Some real soft players but a couple Vegas regulars. One at 3PM and Midnite. THe 7PM is for $160 and 9PM is $130 with a $50 bounty.
I chopped on 2 and came close to the money on 3. Came away a winner. Friendly staff. $1500 to 2K is good.

Question: I have never gotten a massage before. Where should I go for getting a massage in vegas? And what type should I get (ex. Sweedish, deep body, etc)? I don't really wanna spend more than 200. Prefereably around $100 range.

Re: General Vegas Discussion/Questions/ETC - Post your quick questions here

going to vegas monday 09/22 to thursday 09/25 to meet up with two friends from germany that I haven't seen for about two years. don't know where we'll be staying yet, maybe at luxor, they like the building lol.

i guess we mostly just wanna get drunk and have a good laugh. anybody know a good bar or something for three guys in their early 20s to have a beer or ten and just have a good time?

what about food options. were not looking to spend a bazillion dollars, no fancy sea-food and stuff, just a good steak or so. btw, does the riviera still have the $1 menu in case we need a quick bite in between?

any other ideas?

Where are you staying, lots of the hotels outsource their spa operations, so several are really the same company. Paris is good mid/high level, Canyon Ranch at Venetian and Qua at Caesars should be good.

For just screwing around kind of bars: Dicks at Excalibur, 9 fine irish men at NYNY, Hawaiian Tropic Zone at Planet Hollywood Miracle Mile stores, and McFaddens at Rio. Cheap food is everywhere. There are millions of steak places, most USDA Prime stuff tends to work out at about the same sort of price at around $100 a head, try N9ne at Palms and Delmonicos at Venetian. Second tier but good steak places: Binions top of the world steak house, and Range at Flamingo.

I noticed that the Mirage has one of the highest success rates on FrontDeskTip.com, and one reviewer said he got upgraded to the Penthouse Suite for $100 (though he didn't say how many nights he stayed). My plan is to call the front desk right before I check in and ask if they have any suites available for that first night. If they say yes, I'll hang up and then "offer" the desk clerk $100 for an upgrade to a suite. I don't care about having a good view, so anything less than a suite will be worthless to me. Considering it's a four night stay, what are the chances of this working? What are the chances that they take the $100 bill and only give me the same upgrade I could have had for a twenty?

Over a weekend always makes things more difficult, the big secret of the front desk tip is to KNOW YOUR ROOM CATEGORIES AND NAMES. Find out the name for the first level suite and ask specifically for it, so man people think that the 'upgrade' from resort room to 'premium deluxe' -or someother rubbish name is actually an upgrade, when really you've now got a marginal strip view. I cannot stress it enough, KNOW WHAT YOU WANT, DONT JUST ASK FOR AN 'UPGRADE'. Checking in your birthday should help things too, also I like to make sure the line I get in doesnt have a supervisor hovering near by.

check the after midnight food thread, a lot of those places are a very good value for food all day.
