Going to vegas - mid week, looking for 1/2, 2/5 hold'em.
Want fun, spacious room, hot waitresses, not many miserable people. Not bothered if games are tough.

Recommendations?

Thanks in advance.
I would think your best bet is the V or MGM

they used to let people fly on standby, just waiting for the next plane that had a seat. you can still do it but now they just charge you a high price anyway. i'm afraid it's just expensive to fly last minute.

Nope, doesn't work that way. You're SOL.

So now the Canucks are in ROUND 3 of the playoffs, and I'm going to be in Vegas from the 19th-23rd of May, so there will be one or two games to watch during that time. Any recommendations on where we should go to watch? Some sort of sports bar or something that will be playing the game would be nice. We're staying at Bellagio if it makes any difference.

Every single sportsbook is packed with canuck fans every game. Around bellagio the best places to watch are aria and PH.

Does the poker level drop in the week before the WSOP, like tide going out before a tidal wave? I wondered if the regs and pros are taking a little time off first. I ask because since the cash game around the WSOP aren't that great anymore, and this year they'll be packed with online players trying to make a serious switch. I am considering taking my Vegas trip right before the WSOP instead of during it.

I've never bought one of those really giant cocktails that people wander the strip drinking from a straw - want one when I visit in a few weeks. Where is the best place to get these from? Whether they be strong, tasty or just cheaper? Will be staying in the Venetian, if that matters.

I bought one next to Planet Hollywood - it was horrible.

First time booking hotel using my total rewards card. I combined my friends card to get a better deal. Do they need to see both TR cards during check in? or can I get away with showing just mine?

lol these are just terrible. expensive and watered down. just buy a regular drink and get another when you finish it. cheap drinks on the strip include bills (16oz bud/bud light) the poker bar at flamingo ($1 draft beers,) casino royale ($1 frozen margaritas, admittedly also weak, and $1 michelob bottles)

Which is cheapest hotel including cab fare from the airport? Might be landing in LV and leaving about 14 hours later. So don't need anything fancy.

I might also jump skip the hotel part and be awake to my next flight. Anyone know if it possible to leave the luggage some where at the airport?

If you're planning on going to the strip no matter, check it with the bellhop if you're not planning on staying anywhere.

Don't worry about factoring in cab fare, it'll be like a $5 max swing if you're on the strip.

There's no airport storage that I'm aware of.

I doubt they'll need to see any TR card. I've never been asked for a players card when checking into a hotel thru VIP/casino marketing.

Can a fish fold his way to free drink at 1-2NL in Vegas?

I'm heading out next year for a stag and I'm thinking of fun/cheap way for people to drink. Is it likely a fish with a little guidance could buy in for 50BBs ($100) and fold/play big cards/simple shallow poker, in order to be B/E for a few hours of poker, and therefore a get drunk for free?

I suppose I think it's possible, and cheaper that $5 BJ or craps.

[in before variance etc...]

Yes. But there are occaisional games with 1$ blinds.

The best was a zero-ante stud game at the Mirage with a 1$ bring in. So you have to pay @11 cents per hand. I knew a man who said he sat down with a group of friends and then never called the bring-in.

Sounds nice. Also I realise they'd lose $1 tip per drink, but think they could live with that.

Doubt anywhere runs 0.5-1 or 1-1 anymore?

Motel 6 on Tropicana across from the MGM? Hooters also, depending on what promotions they're running.

I used to try 2/4 Limit for that. But it's unlikely to break even by folding everything unless you run really hot. I usually lost about what the drinks would've cost. After the third or fourth beer, suited connectors became impossible to fold.

After I got a little better at poker, I'd play 1/2 NL instead.

$1 per drink is standard.

If you want/ think it'll help you can throw the odd $5 tip in to see if you get a better service. I have done this before, usually as my first tip, so they think I'll tip more. But I think they catch on after my 3rd time of tipping $1....
So.....tip $1.
