Just a tip for neteller card holders who are planning on using it while in Vegas; I was told by neteller support that I can freely use the card as long as I fill it up before I leave from Norway. I'd still be able to access my account over there, but transfers to the card wouldn't be allowed.

It's still $1K x 3/day withdrawl limits, right?

Sorry to sound noob. Second time travelling overseas (from aus)

Do you have to tip when you eat/buy drinks? What are some cultural things I should know about. What is illegal? Good places to go, just general tips. Going alone. Where are the 2+2ers meeting time/place, couldnt find it on the other threads, only about the dinner.

Staying at the palms (stars package)

Yes. 15% of the bill (before tax is added on) is considered the standard for good service. Tip more or less if the service was particularly good or bad.

Drugs like pot and cocaine are illegal. Prostitution is illegal through not strictly enforced. Not sure what you are asking. Maybe a few Aussies who have spent time in the states will chime in.

Well, you are staying at a hotel that has a good swimming pool, young crowd and a bar scene. 2+2 will have a booth at the expo (which is in the Rio near the WSOP events) from July 3-6. Stop by the booth and meet other 2+2ers. Also keep an eye on the threads here. A few of us are planning to hit the gun range at some point.

The last couple of times I've been to Vegas, the wait at the airport for cabs has been hideous. I've always resisted getting a shuttle, but now I'm wondering if that's the way to go. Without getting too crazy in terms of $$, what's the best way to avoid the taxi line at the airport?

I can book a shuttle with my flight (Allegiant Air) for $14, they call it "Airport Shuttle Services", and the phone number matches up with "Showtime Tours" in Las Vegas. Thoughts?

Wow thanks for the useful info and quick response 4_2_it, much appreciated. Just a little nervous about traveling. The booth at the expo? So its in the casino? (slighltly confused)

And how do I go about traveling to casinos to casinos, walking? Drinking legal is 21 I believe?

You're probably best off just walking from casino to casino unless you're going from the Mandalay Bay to the Stratosphere or anything from the southern end of the strip to the northern end. And yes, the legal drinking age is 21.

Not for lack of trying. LVPD runs stings from time to time, both to nab johns and hookers. I've seen them arrest streetwalkers, and pull hookers out of cars on the strip. I've even seen bicycle cops chase down a car they had seen pick up streetwalkers, and pull everyone out at the next red light.

Most will require non-tennis shoes. Haven't been to any that would turn down random dark casual shoe.

It depends on what you call crazy. I walked out once to see a 45 minute cab line in 105 degree heat, and I went over to the private limos and paid $65 and jumped right in. I figured it money well spent at the time.

The airport shuttles charge between $4 and $6 each way, so you're not getting a bargain. It's usually a small bus/van thing, and you have to wait till it's full before you go. They drop off from 3 to 6 different hotels, so it might take over an hout to get to your hotel. Sometimes they use stretch limos and cram 6 or 8 people in them, same deal wth the multiple stops.

Walking? I don't know if you're from Austria or Australia, but it's summer in the northern hemisphere, and Vegas is one of the hottest parts of the U.S. Temperatures in the daytime are usually over 100 degrees (35c) and still in the 90's at night. Walking probably won't kill you, but you won't enjoy it.

Heh heh, never played? You won't be playing 9 first time out unless you are some sort of golf prodigy. Better to just try the driving range where you can rent a club or two and a couple buckets of balls.

ehh ya ya i get it...but thats 1/2 the fun...i mean ive been to a Driving range a few times, but never seriously tried to playcorrectly, and would have no idea about form, club selection, anything....
sooo what would be a competive bet ? i have a friend here in boston who casually plays, says hes a stroke or two worse than a bogey golfer...he said he would give me 18 strokes on 9 holes, all par 3s....is it that tough ?!...

No, I wasn't figuring it would be a bargain, it was more that I hoped I'd be zipping off right away since I had already booked it. From the way it sounded though, I wondered if it might just be a generic shuttle, and what you're saying seems to confirm it. Sounds like I might be best to just show up and if I don't like the cab line, find something else.

Anyone else have any brilliant ideas?

Actually, I do. USE THE SKYCAP. These are the folks with the red hat in the baggage area. Only have a carry-on? No problem. Tell them you need a taxi, they will take your bags and put them on a luggage cart. Give them a $5-$10 tip, and voila, you're at the FRONT of the taxi line. You can thank me July 1-4 with a drink

Wait, what? So I let these guys take my bags and they're allowed to take me to the front of the line? Wow...I'm in on that plan!

Stupid question...am I giving them a tip when I first see them so they'll take me to the front of the line, or are they taking me there and then I'm tipping them for bringing my bags? Not looking for a way out; I just find myself often unsure when to be giving people money for things like that and would like to save myself some awkwardness.

That's well worth the money if it's a big lineup, and if it works, well worth a drink too!

Im not sure if theres a 2p2 planned golf outing yet, but i was looking at the desert pines website and it looks like a good and v reasonably priced course. Considering its going to be ridiculously hot when most of us are in vegas, Id be up for a sick early start if people were up for it. Id be looking to play within the first week two im there [i get there on the 1 July]. take out the 2nd for recovery, the 3rd for the meet up and 4th for recovery/more drinking I'd suggest maybe anywhere from the 5-6th of July onwards?

A 5:48am and 5:56am type start time would be 75$ green fees and $65 gets you club and shoe rental. It's also early enuff that dying from the heat % goes way down imo. Also, maybe 4_2_it could chime in and let us know if theres any golf plans in the pipeline? I remember it being mentioned but no idea if much interest was shown.

Anyway, if anyones interested in playin in that sorta time frame then reply here or PM me or watever.

Tip them after they take your bags. If it's just you and one bag, $5 should be fine. For 2 or more people or lots of bags, go with $10.

Pete,

Start a golf outing thread in this forum. I know tuq and his golf buddies will be around and there are a few others who have inquired about golf as well. Set up a thread ad I'm sure you will get a 4-some or three together.
