Has anybody been successful getting comps reinstated at the MGM room? I'll be giving it a try in a few months .... more than a year since I've been there.

Just got back from Vegas.

Asked Mike at Aria about the comp rumor and he confirmed they had expired however they are manually putting them back. All of them. So he swiped my card, said $125 had expired and he can do $50 per shift back into my account and added my name to a long list.

Two days later I checked my balance and they are all there.

Checked with Bellagio and they were not willing to restore comp balances and she explained the new system as if I did not know. Most of my older comps would have been redeemed over the summer so I did not even try.

Good god man, they have gotten greedy as a mofo. I've noticed on mlife that the "special" rates I got in the past have pretty much gone away. While I personally prefer to stay at Aria, at some point I'm going to have to make a stand on principal and stop giving them business.

If I ever stay in an MGM property again with insane resort fees that cover free local faxes, I swear I'm going to fax stacks of all black pages to every MGM fax number I can find.

Ridiculous resort fees. I don't go to MLife poker rooms anymore. Not like it makes a difference but still

I understand that making you not stay in their hotels, but it makes no sense not to play in their rooms, since they generally have lower rake than other strip rooms.

I agree. I mainly play PLO and Aria has it running all the time for the most part. I just wish they would get rid of the resort fees all together and raise the room rate. At least then I wouldn't feel like I was getting nickel and dimed.

I agree. MLife poker rooms are generally better than say CET by a mile. I live in LA, so I can get alot of games spread to my liking.

What set me off about MLife rooms was cutting back my comps. I don't care that they cut them, I care how sneaky they were in just shutting them off. If MLife came out and said, you got 1 month to use them up before we cut them, no problem.

But the fact that every dealer and floor manager said they will never expire, (even though its not their fault, they didn't know) just makes MLife as a corporation suck.

The Mirage was my favorite room years ago. Stopped in there last month for the first time since early 2016. Saw 80% of my comp balance erased, and didn't pay to park since I walked over from their competition, but geez...

No surprise being a reader of this forum, but it's a great way to chase customers away.

It's a personal boycott. When you don't like the way an organization does business, you don't give them your money.

Which poker rooms in Las Vegas have you found that are associated with hotels with no resort fees?

At least Wynn, Boyd and Stations will waive the resort fee on comped rooms

Binion's poker room is now over by their sports book. They downsized it but started running like 2-7 triple draw and mixed tournaments mid-week.

Personal boycotts are a great way to feel good about yourself while annoying everyone around you and doing nothing to your target. Everyone who does a personal boycott simply won't shut up about it, as if there's a long line of people who are waiting to fellate those who stand up to MGM. Organizing group activities is infuriating when one person won't eat at X because one waiter was rude once and another person won't set foot in Y because of Palestine and another person won't eat at Z because they use non-organic paprika. And when the personal boycott is over things like rake increases and fee increases I double lol because at high occupancy all your personal boycott does is free up a seat or a room for someone who is not rake conscious or price sensitive.

Either grow a pair and organize a real boycott, or admit you lost and bend over. Pissed off at MGM? Convince enough people to stop playing there to actually put a dent in their bottom line. Otherwise, you're just pissing into the wind. Admitting it sucks and going with self-interest is fine too.

There's nothing wrong with a personal boycott. It's perfectly fine to stop patronizing establishments that aren't meeting your expectations. He doesn't owe anyone a reason; he should go where he feels his business is wanted. He'll always feel good about making that choice.

Indeed, that's how markets function. If enough people feel similarly and retarget their patronage elsewhere, it will have a negative effect on that business, and a positive effect on some others - no massive boycott organization effort required.

And if he's the only one who feels that way, then so what? Should he live his life by his standards or yours?

On the contrary, people who engage in personal boycotts OVERgive their reasons, not UNDERgive. Mention going to someplace someone is personally boycotting and you get a half hour lecture.

And this is specifically because they think it's a big ****ing deal that they're making "sacrifices" for the common good. Remember, the question that sparked this is how someone managed to be a serious poker player while avoiding MGM properties. If MGM properties suck, then nobody goes on "personal boycotts" or **** like that, they just shrug and say they play elsewhere.

I mean I get what you're saying. If it doesn't affect me, why do I care? And it's true that if it didn't affect me, I wouldn't. But we all know these "personal crusaders." They're the ones who refuse to participate in group activities because of their life-or-death convictions on the proprietor's political beliefs, or go out of their way to passive-aggressively tell everyone how bad the service is (and then get mad when you don't share their outrage).

Let me phrase it in a nice way. If you don't like a place, just quietly stop going. Don't call it a personal boycott and don't annoy your friends by proselytizing your personal boycott.

Depends on the reason for the boycott.

You only mention political beliefs or bad service. What if an establishment discriminates by race, eg? I think it is just to bring it up and tarnish their reputation, since it deserves to be tarnished.

Well then it's not a personal boycott.

When people engage in personal boycotts, generally it's because the reasons for the boycott aren't transferrable to others. If a manager yells at a kid with Down's Syndrome everyone in the store boos. If a manager yells at an adult wearing an obnoxious political shirt half the store boos and half claps.

Real boycotts are fine. And they actually work.

Too bad bc the tournament buyins and structures were good

Unfortunately they don't need your business. Getting gouged at the mirage due to the inlaws wanting to stay here

A quick walk by the poker room tonight and it was packed to the brim. Those high hands have the fish swarming
