Thanks. That sounds like a good way to ensure I get some decent volume in. Setting aside 5 hrs/day shouldn't be to difficult.

Btw I just put in 13.5 hours last night.

+24 @ Venetian 2/5 3.5 hrs
+1,635 @ Bellagio 1/3 10 hrs

Headed to Santa Fe tonight.

-$92 @ Santa Fe in 1hr.
Friend of mine works there & she got off early so it cut my grind time short.

Chip Pic from the Bellagio session:

Plan to put in some hours reviewing hands from this past winning session & brushing up on a few things tomorrow.
Probably going to do this at a local coffee shop to make sure I stay focused.

Good thread, Sammy! Been keeping up with it. Thought I gave you props already, but guess I didn't. I'm three weeks away from getting to the grind out there myself.

I'll be a life nit for a good while, though. Got a friend that will be out there the first week, so the will be fun. After that, I look forward to meeting whoever and scouting out $1-$2, $1-$3, and $2-$5 games, so we should definitely get in touch!

Made a huge mistake tonight in the 2/5 at Bellagio. Went broke like a fish.
The hand is nothing special. I could of easily folded my over pair but instead got in 100+ BBS.
I haven't made a mistake like that in a very long time & it's still hard for me to believe I played the hand the way I did.
For some reason (too much caffeine)? I still felt like I could play my A game. After leaving the casino my mind immediately felt foggy.

I do realize exactly what I did wrong in the hand so it's time to chalk it up to a lesson learned and try not to lose any sleep over it.

Back to the grind tomorrow!

Another long session.. This time a losing one.

-$415 @ Bellagio 1/3
About $200 of that was a triple barrel bluff that got called down by k10 on a king high board.
Raised pre, had a good image, player seemed totally capable of folding. But he didn't.. Oh well.

-400 @ Wynn 7:46
Was in for 600 total. Hovered around there most of the night.
Game got short & most of the players were loose passive call stations. I built my stack up to around 900.

Then I lost 200bb AA vs JJ in a 4 bet pot.

1 limper I make it $12 from SB with AA.
BB makes it $35?
Limper folds and I make it $95.
He calls.

Flop J56 I lead $200. He moves in for around $250 more.
I call..

Player was in his 20's, seemed to have just left the club, and sort of like an action fish. The only hand that stuck out in my mind previous to this one was:

Player raises pre with 1010.
Leads out around 40 on a J8x board, gets called by a player with $140 total, then another player shoves $245, and he called...

My overall image of him was that he was just bad & got attached to certain hands easily. He admittedly played bad that hand & after speaking with him later I realized my image of him was wrong.

That's why I sized my flop bet so big.. I'm not sure if I would of folded vs him even if I sized it smaller & he went all in.

One thing I do know, is that I definitely wasn't still playing my A game.
I need to start taking more breaks, evaluating my in game performance more often, & quitting sooner.

I recently re-read Tommy Angelos "Elements Of Poker" & he recommends quitting before you deviate from your A game IIRC.
The next few sessions I plan on becoming a better quitter.

Should probably make it $20-25 with AA. Game's always deep there and almost plays like 2/5

?????

Sounds like the guy got the exact situation he wanted with the raise he made, almost a $200 pot pre-flop with an 80-20 advantage. How would making a bigger raise have possibly helped in this particular situation?

Maybe raising more pre-flop is just "in general" type of advice, but for this particular situation I don't think it makes sense.

Made a couple good folds and 2 bad calls.
I don't have any winning hands in my notes so I'm pretty sure I only won a few very small pots the whole session.

Shipped $70 of that to the trooper when he flopped the nut flush and I went runner runner top 2 with KJ.

I was happy with losing the min there.

It was also interesting talking to him about his VLog and other stuff. Probably would of ended the session a little sooner if it wasn't for that.

Taking the weekend off and flying to Austin Texas. I actually planned to cancel the trip but was persuaded to go last minute.
I've never flown before and I still feel un easy about flying, especially after watching a recent plane crash video..

So if I don't update after this, it's not cus I went bust!

Hope you get things turned around. Need a good run when you get back!

Flying is nothing, my man. It's a lot safer than driving. Safe travels!

Sucks to keep reading about your downswing, I hope the break helps get you mentally reset. FWIW, I don't think there's much else you could've done with the AA besides maybe 5-bet shove, but at 1/3 I would seriously doubt JJ is folding. You always want that hand in there against your bullets, obv just don't want them to hit a the 2-outer. I like the $12 bet as it induces exactly what happened, the jacks 3-bet.

How long is your break in Texas going to be?

Don't sweat flying. It's safer than driving. Enjoy the experience & find a window seat!

Raise pre with AA is fine. Crazy that you never been on a plane. Hit me up when you get back in Vegas. I've been grinding out here for almost 2 years, I'm from Texas went to school in Austin.

Austin is great man. I lived there for awhile and go there a lot. All it needs is a Casino.

Yes there are underground games but just beware the 1-2 games are usually raked at 10$'s a pot. I was even invited to a 2-5 game where the rake was 10 percent uncapped. I just laughed at the guy.

I imagined since it was underground the rake would be high. Plus I'm sure they take more than they say.

Poker Journal:

The first 2 days back from ATX I think I slept 13+ hours each day which freaked me out a little. I was told it was jet lag but idk. I didn't get a lot of sleep while I was out there so maybe it was just my body catching up.

Whatever it is, it makes me appreciate even the worst sleeping habits I've had in the past.

Overall it was a beneficial & fun getaway for me. I'm looking forward to going back in the summer and doing more traveling in general.

Sometimes you can make more money in 30 minutes to an hour than 7+ hours in a tourney
