Re: Las Vegas Summer Housing Megathread
Thanks. I checked out vrbo but don't have any clue as to what neighborhoods are reasonable areas relative to the Rio.

I havent stayed there myself. I did stay at the extended stay next door once for about a week, so i passed by it every time i walked to the rio. It looks pretty nice.
That said, i mentioned it in another thread, and the pretty much universal opinion there was its terrible. Also, it gets pretty terrible reviews generally.

I stayed at ESA last year. It's not nice by any means, but it's easily walkable to the RIO, has a kitchen and two beds and we spent so much time at the Rio that it was totally fine. Cheap as dirt too.
I'm looking to go a little nicer this year, I'll share what I find itt since I assume a lot of other people are in the same boat. MGM Signature seems like a reasonably good deal, Palms is nice and walkable but a little pricier.

-I saw the reviews for desert tides and they are pretty bad, but boliver stayed there last year and he said it's not bad for the price and closeness to rio
-The pictures look nice but besides quality, do you guys know if it's safe bc one of the review said "horrible and unsafe" I mean would it be ok to walk home at night at 3-4am? Might have some mula from a winning cash session to be concern about. What do you guys know about deposit boxes are they only for high rollers?
-Boliver and I also considered laguna palms and meridian, are these places good/safe? good value? is there a place that's a better option than desert tides thats one step up in terms of value or price/quality?
-Thanks for the help

I recall seeing security patrols on the premises, and between crossing the st away from the rio and getting there youre never really out of site of flamingo.
I wouldnt nec go out of my way to carry large amounts of cash around anywhere though.
Meridian is much nicer, but youre not going to get anything close to 500/person/month. maybe twice that... laguna palms... is that the place right behind the meridian on koval and winnick? Its a time share and thats all i really know about it. Im not 100% sure it would be very easy to get a long rez there.

I assume you're driving. If you stay at MGM Signature, try to get one of the closer 2 towers. The farthest tower shuts down the lobby and valet at midnight (no self-park) so it's a pain to walk from the middle tower lobby back to your tower late at night, particularly when you may not be as cogent as normal. Also, the studios have only mini-fridges. That's okay for sandwich stuff and drinks, but if you plan to really cook, they are too small. Not sure if the 1 or 2br have a full-sized fridge, but you should ask.
