I remember a video alittle after the 100 hour challenge when he got told to not video record hands at the MGM. He went on one of his rants saying that he will never play at the MGM Grand again.
In my opinion, MGM Grand is a great room full of players spewing chips at night(hint hint). When I played there months ago there was a drunk guy that came from the club that was bluffing on every hand and just kept shoving in chips. I just called him down with top pair top kicker and picked up some easy money and a nice win.
I also remember a night where Trooper hit for 1300K here. Its pretty sad that he had to boycott this casino.
I actually think you are confused about this. It was PokerKraut that was super pissed off about not being able to film at MGM. I also believe PokerKraut vowed to not play there again (i haven't watched his videos recently, but has he been back?)
Trooper's rant was about Planet Hollywood right after the 100hr challenge. Even then, Trooper was still playing at Planet Hollywood despite not being able to film and said he would respect PH's wishes. I think he now realizes it's better for the vlog to film some hands so he is unlikely to play at PH but it's not a boycott per se.
On second thought it looks like PokerKraut stopped going to the MGM because he didn't like the dealers there and the unfriendly atmosphere. Or perhaps it was just because he couldn't find his car. I do believe they told him to stop filming there though.
This is the first Negreanu Vlog I've watched. It's pretty much night and day between how he and Trooper live their lives. Kids, if you want to be successful in life then this is the guy you should be looking at.
It is interesting that every time he has success he seems to run from it. His biggest success since moving to Vegas was in the MGM 100 hour challenge where he made $5k in 2 weeks (and potentially improved his game in the process). However, not only has he not participated in any more hourly challenges but he also hasn't been playing at MGM. In the past when he would take a shot at 2/5 and score a big win he would go back to 1/2 and wouldn't return to 2/5 for months. He had success at 2/5 during Operation Uptick and rather than building on that he immediately leaves Vegas. He claims to have had great success grinding Single Table SNGs during the WSOP and yet since moving to Vegas has not played them at all.
What this means exactly, I'm not sure. I think in the back of his mind he doesn't think he can reproduce these results. Perhaps he doesn't think he can actually beat Vegas 2/5. So he takes these "wins" where he can get them and then moves on to try to get new wins rather than potentially tarnishing the wins he already has.
I wouldn't be surprised if he is scared. What happens if he continues to play 2/5 and then his results start to show that it's unlikely he can beat it? It would be a massive blow to his ego and humiliating when people make fun of him.
By quitting 2/5 he can protect his fragile ego. He can tell himself he is awesome at poker because when he played 2/5 he crushed it so he is a crusher. And maybe he can even crush 5/10.
It's why he has a million excuses when he loses at 1-2. It's really important for him to have a high opinion of himself. He becomes enraged at the thought that he needs coaching so he would prefer to make up excuse after excuse instead.
If sleeping 12 hours a day, dicking around at Starbucks, and griping is work, then yes he does.

I was wondering, why is Trooper missing Vegas/home so much? He doesn't have many friends, no family, no hobbies/activities in Vegas. I guess he misses Molly. But that's about it. If he had any life (ie Kraut, Andrew, DNegs), I can see being depressed on a month long road trip.

I think he misses his routines. I miss my dogs, my girl and my habits (going to my coffee shop/errand stops) when I'm out of town. Although I don't think he's mentioned Molly once in a vlog nor tagged her in social media post of pictures and stuff.
I don't care if they are together or not but if I had to place a bet I would bet they broke up before he left (thus the lack of vlogs pre road trip). Not sure if the relationship was very close/passionate to start but I was glad to see them together. Mostly because I thought him having a relationship would only produce life positives for him (being more motivated, active and presenting himself more maturely to impress a grown woman.) unfortunately I think dating her only affirmed that what he does is already best, not that he should strive for even better/more to keep her interest.

Unlike you, I really like Trooper and his videos.
That being said...be inability to get moving in the AM will kill him on this leg. His only saving grace will be a night in his car...which will force him to get moving early. I say 4:30 PM Sunday.
