Hey Guys, long time lurker first time poster. Love the site, tons of useful info, Here's my situation. Considering moving to Vegas to go to school at UNLV this fall. Before anyone gets ahead of them selves in this post I am not considering moving to vegas to play poker full time.

I do plan on getting a full time job and going to school full time so poker will only be a 1-2 day a week hobby. Back to my question, I want to come out there at the end of the summer/beginning of fall for about a month just to check it out, look for an apartment and finalize the job situation(already have a job lined up). and see if i can see my self living there for around 18 months.

Does anyone know of any furnished motels or apartments close to the strip that are affordable, yet not to busted. I'm trying to save money but not get raped/killed/robbed at gun point. I will prob look for a place near henderson when im out there but want to stay as close to the strip so I can see what the strip is really all about. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Suggest going the apartment route there are plenty near unlv which is close to strip

thanks thats the plan, I just want to find somewhere to stay for about 4 weeks while Im out there and looking for a place. Then once I secure a place I will make the full move out there.

Suggest narrowing it down as much as possible. Renting a cheap hotel room, should be easy then, bring a car or rent one and scope out the apartments.

I agree, the main reason of the post is to try to help locate a cheap room that will have a decent rate for about 30 days.

if you have a car I'd look at the budget suites on w tropicana
emerald suites on cameron next to the orleans
manor suites or crestwood suites by the car rental on s las blvd
the extended stay by southpoint

you could check holiday royale on paradise near hard rock but not for me
