ate at Prime tonight, excellent as usual. Definitely has the best filet of any place I have ever been to. For those that don't know- ask to go out on the patio after dinner, either for dessert and drinks if its not cold, or just to watch a fountain show for 5 min. More for your GF or say family visiting(my case tonight) than you, but its still cool.

also wtf is up with a lot of places being closed this week? I've been in diff casinos the past few days and they def are not dead, yet a lot of places are closed "for renovations" or w/e. Yellowtail, Crafsteak, and Seablue just that I heard of today.

Is it wierd to eat on your own? Going to vegas soon on my own and I enjoy good food, I've no problems eating on my own, but want to know is it a regular thing or will I look like a physco?
Thanks

I think it's fine - before I was married I did this all the time. The way I thought about it was, even if I looked like a psycho, what was the alternative? Eating something less good because of what strangers *might* think about me? F 'em and enjoy yourself!!

If the place has bar seating, that's always a good option.. and who knows you may make a new 'friend'...

the casinos aren't dead but just walk up and down the pit. the bellagio has an army of $10 bj tables. i couldn't get cirque tickets because the shows weren't even running.

i guess the restaraunts were planning on simply losing money by being open.

I've eaten at quite a few nice places in Vegas.

I ate at Craftsteak last year around X-mas time. I had their expensive Kobe (the platinum steak) which was very good and some lobster which was poached in butter. The side dishes were excellent. But the most memorable thing from the meal, was dessert. I order the ice cream platter. It was 16 scoops of ice cream. All miniature scoops so you could taste it. It was big enough for 2-3 ppl. But the flavours were so interesting. They had gingerbread, fruit cake, cinnamon, red bull, orange basil. Very good.

I forgot to add, my little brother did a wine flight. What I liked about the wines (I had a sip of) was that they were very distinct. One was very smokey, the other very fruity, can't remember the 3rd.

In the summer I at the SW Steakhouse. It was phenomenal. I had a filet that was great. It came with some kind of blue cheese pastry which I did not care for. It seemed to have goat cheese in it. I hate goat cheese. The side dish of truffled cream corn was soooo good. I can't remember any other place offering it as a side dish. Mushrooms and potatoe were good as well. For dessert I had the Fritters with 3 dipping sauces (chocolate, vanilla, and caramel which was the best). Excellent presentation. Fantastic dessert! My gf got creme brulee which was good, but creme brulee is always good.

This time I am going to try Delmonicos and Cut.

Don't be silly. The only thing is that you get board. So bring a book or you will probably play with your blackberry.

I forgot to add my review of Olives and Fix.

Olives was bad. I did not like it. I ordered a pasta dish in a cream sauce with snow peas. I ate about 1/2 my meal. My family didn't really care for it either. Service was pretty slow and our waiter was unattentive. It took me a while to ask for water.

Fix was very good. I had a filet (always go for a filet when I get steak). We had lobster mashed potatoes, and adult fried mac and cheese. Very good. I loved the side dishes. I would recommend this place.

Just eat at the bar at any of the nice places and there always seems to someone to talk to. I always eat at Joe's Stone Crab at the Forum shops and the bartender recognizes me and we always chat.

My Favorite spots to dine in Vegas are:

Red Square-Mandalay Bay: Russian themed with great vodka (matini's) and caviar (although I hate caviar). Great for a date.

Boa-Forum Shops-Steaks and Seafood in a contemporary decor.

Sea Blu-MGM: Lobster corndogs, anything better?

Binion's Steakhouse (flame away for this one): I am a sucker for old Vegas this makes me feel nostalgic. Great view of the strip on a clear night, great French onion soup, and reasonable lobster.

Joe's Stone Crab's Forum shops: The Claw appetizer and sweet potato french fries are the nuts.

Ugh.. Olives is haaaarrrrble...

I forgot one thing about SW.... wtf is up with that annoying video thing and the wacky snake and loud music over the fountain outside... very incongruent with the atmosphere...

Perfect opportunity to bring a notebook, pretend you're writing a review for a serious publication, and see if they give you anything free, IMO.

I've always really liked Fix and Stack. Ate at Stack two weeks ago in the Mirage. Food was excelllent as always, but the service was slow. Not that we were in a rush, but it was slow enough to notice and be a little annoying. They have also added the lobster tacos to the app menu at Stack. Used to only be at Fix. Apps were exceptional, steaks were great, sides were great, desserts were great. More casual places than Delmonicos, etc., but still very much worthwile.

i thought olives was awful, i'd been to everywhere at the bellagio 2x before i went to olives for the first time, and my conclusion was that it was far and away the worst place to eat at bellagio.

and eating alone in vegas isn't bad at all, i see a lot of people doing it, almost every restaurant has an eat at bar

I ate at Pinot Brassier at the Venetian 2 nights ago. We had a large group so they made a special menu for us.

To start I had a lobster bisque which was pretty good but insanely rich. You felt how rich it was 5 minutes after finishing it. Very filling.

My main course was a surf and turf. They gave us a whole baby lobster which was very tasty. Pretty hard to screw up lobster IMO. My steak however, was probably one of the worst steaks I have ever had in a nice restaurant. It was like a hockey puck. I asked for medium well and it was very well done. It was kinda puny compared to others eating the same dish. My theory is that they didn't anticipate that so many ppl would get the surf and turf and perhaps had to thaw my steak out last minute and cook it.

Alot of my guests complained how bad the service was. I was unaware though. They said it was terrible and a few ppl complained. I didn't learn about it until the next day. They said it was dispicable, etc.

On a lighter note, I ate at Delmonicos. It was really good. I had a caesar salad. Pretty good, but I have had better. It need more dressing I think. My steak was fantastic, I had the filet and I split a lobster tail with my younger brother. It was a giagantic tail. We had a few sides. The mushrooms were very good as was the creamed spinach. The truffled potato chips were kinda meh as was a few of the other sides (broccoli and the fingerling potatoes). For dessert I had a fantastic banana cream pie and a latte. If you have never had emerils banana cream pie, you really should try it. I know, you are thinking, Banana cream pie? So what? But this is soooo good. I normally wouldn't care for it, but its his specialty. I asked for skim milk in the latte and they had none? I was a little surprised by that. The steak and lobster tail were just so good it really did carry everything though.

Cliff Notes: Pinot Brassier awful, Delmonicos Good

Just got back from Vegas for Sight seeing and shows with non-gambling friends.

Went to N9NE (which I thought was pronounced Nene, like Nene Hilario).
Ordered the 40 oz Ribeye for two, and added Lobster tail and Crab Leg at $20 per with crab cake appetizer. Ordering the seafood was overdoing it. Crab cakes were great, and our cut of Ribeye was fatty and delicious as opposed to my other friend who ordered it rare and got a healthier cut. The steak is in the top 3 that I've had [with Porterhouse at Ruth's Chris and Kobe Beef in Kobe being the others].

Went to the Burger Bar midweek and had the $60 Rossini burger with Black Truffles. Black Truffles sure are delicious, I didn't see the $1000 burger combo on the menu though.

Also went Nobu and ordered the $100 Omakase. 3 Cold: Toro with caviar in this sauce [amazing dish], then 2xred-tail + 1xblack tail sashimi, then Kanpachi salad with wasabi vinegrette; 3 Hot: Black Cod in Miso [Nobu's Specialty dish is delicious], Beef Tenderloin cooked in Sake extinguished by Citrus [way too sour, did not like], Miso soup with clams; Final Dish: 5xSushi (Salmon, Toro, Kanpanchi, Sweet Shrimp, and Macorro). Ended with a Bento Box (Chocolate Running Cake + Best Green Tea Icecream i've had).

I'd like to go back and try the $250 Omakase sometime.

ps. If your ever in Napa try his other restaurant The French Laundry ( that is if you want to drop 1K/person on dinner)
Nice hyperbole here.

You can get out of The French Laundry for $500/person EASY assuming you don't go overboard on the booze.

How much does the omakase typically run at Okada, and about how many courses do you usually get?
