I am looking for some off strip choices for Thai or Korean. Our neighbors will be in Vegas and I want to take them for a good meal.

+1 for Lamaii

Lamaii's website suggests they will be opening a 2nd location in Henderson.

Flying in for start of November. I have this list of different steakhouses I have heard about. Any comments people have on places on this list for good or bad?

Top 10:
Joe’s Seafood & Prime Steak, Vic & Anthony, Herbs & Rye, SW Steakhouse, Craftsteak, Hugo’s Cellar, Oscars, Delmonico Steakhouse, Andiamo’s Italian Steakhouse, Echo & Rig

Others contenders:

Old Homestead
Golden Steer
Jean George
Bugsy & Meyer's Steakhouse
THE Steakhouse @ Circus Circus
Cut
STK
Barry’s Prime
Prime Steakhouse
Bazaar Meat
Ruth Chris
Cleaver
Heritage steak
Charlie Palmer Steak
Binions The steakhouse
Triple George
Smith & Wollensky

Already visited: Craft Steak, Joe’s Seafood Prime Steak, Old Homstead, SW steakhouse, Delmonico

Also any other steakhouse spots that should be on this list?

whats your goal? I mean... you aren't coming all the way to LV to go to smith and wollensky or Ruth's Chris.

Any of them can work. I dont love the fast music vibe at STK. Cut is great, but you'll spend a fortune. Bazaar Meat has the most interesting menu. The "comfortable" group are all v good and subject to personal preference. "Old School Vegas" you go for the ambience and not the food, not that the food is bad. Echo and Rig you go with 10 people and 10 bottles of wine because there's no corkage. Herbs and Rye you go for great cocktails and a half price steak to say you did it. Mostly for the cocktails. Ditto Cleaver i guess, no real reason to go there as a visitor. Triple George is a great business lunch spot, but it would never have occurred to me to be on a "steakhouse" list.

Old School Vegas Vibe: Golden Steer, Hugo's, Oscar's

Modern: Cut, STK, Bazaar Meat (most interesting menu)

Comfortable, high class: Delmonico, SW, Prime, Circus Circus, Bugsy & Meyer's, Barry's

Half Price Steaks at Happy Hour, good cocktails: H&R, Cleaver

I am going with a friend this week and I am deciding on what to get. I am thinking of sharing the Porterhouse. Have you had it? Anything else you recommend on the menu?

Had the porterhouse once and thought it was good but not as good as the one from Carnevino (RIP).

I don't think I've ever been disappointed with anything at Cut except for the one time our waiter convinced us to have them make WhistlePig Old Fashioned for us table side. Obviously not their fault that WhistlePig is ridiculously overpriced but $65 for an Old Fashioned is pretty crazy even for Vegas fine dining standards.

I mean hate to be that guy but like - it's a steakhouse, you 100% know what you're going to get from every dish on the menu. You really can't go wrong.

Haha, fair enough. I don’t know all the cuts since I am new to steaks but I see your point. Thanks!

Pretty sure your waiter is going to help you decide if you tell him what you like.

Personally, I am a Kansas City Strip guy (others call it New York Strip) but a lot of people think ordering that at a good steakhouse is almost as bad as getting a filet mignon.

While different steakhouses have slightly different broilers and techniques there's relatively little difference in the end result for the same piece of meat. When it comes to steak it's about what cut of meat you like and how much you're willing to pay. Perfect execution is a prerequisite at high end steakhouses.

That will totally depend on personal preference.

I pulled the menu up. If I were ordering for two, I'd get a salad, half dozen oysters, creamed spinach, kung pao cauliflower, and mushrooms (this is probably overkill, especially if you get potatoes, but #yolo, etc). Maybe some fries or potatoes if i were hungry. For steaks, the eye of ribeye and either the ribeye or bone-in sirloin. The porterhouse would also be a great choice, might go with the prime tomahawk instead if i were going large format. I'd get chimichurri and steak sauce but honestly for a 90 dollar steak i better not ****ing need sauce.

You could get a banana cream pie for dessert, but honestly, you should walk across to Delmonico for that.

You can ask the steakhouse to slice the steaks for sharing.

Get a bourbon or whiskey cocktail in the bar first, and get you a bottle of a big California Cab for dinner and you'll be all set. Have fun. Pro-tip: win at blackjack first.

Noticed we are from the same city. I have been to about half that list, maybe a little less. I would recommend Delmonico if you just want a great steak with amazing service.

The wait list came through for é on Friday. They got A5 in recently and it was incredible.

We tried Superfrico on Sunday. Not sure it's fine dining, but I guess for pizza it is. I liked both deep dishes (pistachio mortadella and carne asada).

Best steakhouse money is no option: bavettes and cut

Best apps/sides for steakhouse: demonico

Best bang for your buck: echo and rig

Impossible to categorize but it’s great: bazaar

Recommendation: delmonico, great steaks, good value for strip, great variety for apps and sides.

Of the 3 bottles they had to choose from I picked the middle one and that cocktail was $125. Even my worst night in poker didn't cost me that much per drink while playing.

Nice - we had a great dinner at e but man it’s got to have been almost 10 years. Never felt compelled to go back (just from an entertainment value perspective)

Bavettes is a good call too balbomb - totally spaced on that.

Went to wallys at RW last night for light-ish business dinner. Was nice enough but solidly overpriced. Glass of wine each, charcuterie bd five items, shared salad, shared flatbread. $160 pre tip (103 food, 44 wine, 12 tax). And we went pretty middle of the road.

We went in July, said we wouldn't go back this trip, and then emailed to be added to the wait list. I really like it there and the wine pairing is well done, imo. They overcooked the fluke, which I thought was the best dish last time, but the steak made up for it.

Also, they are back down to a seating of 6 with partitions. Not sure why as I don't think the reduced seating is mandatory.

Haven't been to Bavette's yet, but the menu prices don't look markedly different than Delmonico's? Or is their online menu out of date?

I have been to Bavette’s twice. Last time was about couple years ago iirc.

With the exception of an overcooked steak on one of the occasions (I sent it back and got a properly cooked one), my experiences were 10/10 both times.
