lol i think i'd rather pay corkage than give a glass of wine to someone for any bottle that I'd bother bringing to a restaurant

Don’t mind corkage but would rather it be reasonable.
I think it is pretty much $50 everywhere now, so you might as well buy a bottle of Opus to get value out of it. If anyone is aware of a good restaurant charging less than $50, please post it, as we will be coming down in 10 days.

Best Friend - great but overpriced for KBBQ, better off going to Chinatown. The short rib tacos are best deal on the menu.
Once - never been
Carbone - great food, way overpriced, but I'd pay it again. The cherry pepper ribs were awesome and the portion was huge, couldn't eat it all.

Echo and Rig in Summerlin has no corkage for up to 3 bottles. Get the skirt steak and thank me later.

is the 3 bottle thing new? We've never paid corkage there ever, and I've definitely brought (way) more than 3 bottles...

I’ve never tried to bring more than 3 but that’s what one of the servers told me. If you give them a good tip I’m sure they won’t say anything either way.

I believe Lamaii’s corkage is $25. And that is a good restaurant.

Booked - thank you.
BTW, I have always bought my wine at Total Wine south of McCarran - it is pricey but the selection is fabulous. Do you guys have any superior recommendations for LV wine shopping? I know Costco Liquor is best for price, but the selection is pretty limited, especially at the higher end. The one time I tried Costco in LV, the top choice was Mayacamas.

If you have a rental car go to Khoury’s in Henderson. It’s at Eastern and Ione. Great local shop.

I've been to Carbone in nyc -- it's basically high end "red sauce" Italian. Very good food, service is good, wine list is good (and expensive). A bit sceney.

Read the last few pages to get "caught up." Was in Vegas the week of Thanksgiving, and had a couple OK meals to share.

First, whoever said that T-Bones at Red Rock is underrated is absolutely right. It's very good for what it is. I didn't go this trip but in the past it's been great.

Now for the good places from this trip.

L'Atelier was fantastic. I was expecting it to be meh because it's basically the "cheap" (clearly a relative term) Robuchon place, but it was great. Basically everything they gave me made me happy.

Only other meal appropriate for this thread was at Picasso at Bellagio. The regular menus are meh, but the truffle menu seems much much better. My wife and I got items from all 3 menus in a "roll your own" tasting option (that we probably ended up finding a way to overpay for). The truffle items were by far the best. If I went back, I would just get that one and be done with it. Nothing else was memorable.

I'm not a wine drinker but Total Wine's non-wine products are the cheapest you'll fine in Las Vegas from what I've seen. Would be surprised if there is a retail wine seller who is cheaper.

I guess there is a reason why T-Bones is the only original restaurant left from when the Red Rock originally opened back in 2006 (not counting the 24/7 diner). business must be good.

T Bones steak is trash for the price. Had steak there twice and it sucked both times. Wasn’t even just ok, it actually sucked. Their crab cakes are awesome though.

Hive mind- have an upcoming trip where we need to eat dinner at the Mandalay. Was going to go with Red Square, always wanted to try it and of course find out it closed Nov 2019. Where should we eat? Better food is better obv, money no object but I'm not looking to waste money either. Thanks!

I'm in DC area where there at a couple jaleos and not normally a huge fan. That said, had a random meal at Vegas jaleo a couple of years ago and did the tasting menu, which my friend and I really enjoyed. Worth the upcharge for the meat course.

Gin and tonics

My experience w Jaleo has always been that everything is good/very good, everything is overpriced, and nothing has ever blown me away.

Would 100% defer to others if you get advice but I think jaleo is a great place for chatting and drinking, and then having some tapas show up every now and again.

ETA: tasting would be a good idea so if you’re like me you don’t overthink it and end up a little disappointed. Actually I could eat their pan amb tomate for days, even if it’s the lowest brow thing on their menu (it is still certainly a traditional Catalan tapa though)

Yea this pretty much sums up the experience. We ended up ordering a la carte and realized after that the tasting menu would have only cost marginally more.

Thought it was quite good but not mind blowing and def a little over priced. I also thought the service was a little off and the order and timing of dishes made little sense. The gambas (hard to go wrong obv) were pretty amazing and over delivered.

StripSteak or Charlie Palmer Steakhouse. I’ve only been to Aureole once years ago and wasn’t blown away, but it does fit the bill for Fancy Dinner.
