Jimmy you have lost your mind. What was up last night at Aria? Were you sweating a friend in the nightly tournament?

Went to Cyrus a couple of years ago, was very underwhelmed. Nothing was bad, but nothing was noteworthy about it whatsoever. Ate at 3 places during that trip, Cyrus was by far the most expensive and by far the least memorable.

Thanks very much for the feedback, I think I'll try and repeat the best meal of my life at the French Laundry instead of Cyrus.

I dined at Cyrus, thought it was amazing. Laundry is better though.

There's all the motivation I need for a repeat visit.

Also, I went to Lotus of Siam for the first time, and was super impressed/surprised by their wine list (also ed their food of course, but I was expecting that). I think there were a half dozen different types of Sauternes, including Chateau d'Yquem!

The owner of Lotus of Siam is a prolific wine collector from what I have read. I think you are apt to find a selection there you wouldn't normally expect in a Thai restaurant.

That's an understatement. The wine list has like 20+ pages of German Reisling (which goes extremely well with Thai food, especially very hot Thai food) and quite a bit of other stuff as well. It's very impressive.

Just had Raku's 15 course Kaiseki for $150 and it's one of the best meals I've had in Vegas. I highly, highly, highly recommend it (you need to reserve it at least 3 days in advance).

Any recommendations? I have lots of different German Rieslings (not that tough or expensive since I live in the upper Rhine valley and the next wineyard is less than 200 yards away, where a bottle goes for ~$10) but never thought of combining them with Thai food. Way tougher to get good Thai food here btw..

Here's their wine list:

I've usually just ordered by the glass, out of those, I've particularly liked:

Koehler Ruprecht Kabinett Trocken, Pfalz 2009

and

Egon Muller Scharzhofberger, Ruwer 2009

Re: Las Vegas Fine Dining Thread

TY for the link. I'm far away from being a wine expert, but that list looks impressive. At least for the Rheingau/Rheinhessen region, there are not only all the expensive big names on that list, but some great smaller family-run wineyards as well.

I like their Spaetlese even more.

Has anyone been to any of the Project Dinner Table dinners? Next month's featured chef is Rick Moonen and I am considering going. Ty for any feedback!
