Fleur is still awesome. A few menu changes and I miss the tasting menu but the amazing soup is still there, the desserts are all phenomenal and they have the burrata. OH THE BURRATA.

Sounds like you want Italian American, am I right? If so Rao's is the best bet on the strip, or Bratalia off the strip at this time. The chef at Bratalia is the former chef at Raos, her food is better at Bratalia IMHO because she doesn't have to cater to Rao's NYC menu anymore (Rao's in NYC isnt good, the Vegas license is much better, NYC is more of a social club than a restaurant).

If you want to expand your options to authentic Italian from the mainland (which tends to be less hearty, unless you get a big meat dish) I'd check out DOCG at Cosmo or Otto at Venetian for something more affordable and approachable, or BnB at Venetian for a sick baller meal that the foodies will love, but will leave the non-foodies puzzled why there is no spaghetti and meatballs on the menu - its pretty exotic for some tastes.

The last recommended option is Scarpetta at Cosmo - I am not a fan of this place because of it's price to performance ratio when compared to BnB, but if you want the Italian American basics done in a nouveau fashion then this is the place - its as expensive as BnB which is a shame, but if your crew wants something more approachable then this is the best bet for a baller Italian meal. Scarpetta also owns DOCG, I like DOCG much better.

It's fine, nice joint. You'll have a good meal. I thought it was a bit overrated (as I've seen it to be very highly rated), but it's not like it's crap or something.

Ya, I pretty much agree with this. Unmemorable but certainly very tasty.

Re: Las Vegas Fine Dining Thread

This just in:

The Cosmopolitan says its restaurants and bars took in nearly $58 million, while it had $31 million in gambling revenue and more than $34 million in hotel room revenue.

wow.... thats some insane numbers for Q1 restaurant and bars of Cosmo. I wish the separated out to just restaurants alone, it would be really interesting. As a point of reference the best restaurant business I was loosely associated with took in 14 million in year in NYC.

Re: Las Vegas Fine Dining Thread

I don't know whether those numbers are impressive or not. Consider that Tao took in $58 million on it's own last year (so presumably $15m or so for the quarter), while SW as another example is an annual $18m or so earner. Cosmo's numbers include Marquee plus every restaurant and bar in the joint...guess I wish there were more ways to compare. Doesn't sound like they're eating **** or anything though.

Best foie gras on the strip?

Headed out in a month. Already have Cut on my list of places to go. Can't wait to try the bone marrow starter there.

Forgot to mention sinatra as a good italian place. Though may not be as italy italian as you're looking for. Everything I've had has been tasty.

Re: Las Vegas Fine Dining Thread

Went to Picasso, my favorite restaurant, again tonight. Never disappoints. The worst item I've had in my ~ 12 trips to Picasso is better than the worst item I've had anywhere else. The place doesn't get enough love because too many people just don't know it exists. 2 Michelin Stars.

Only tasting menus. Left side is their specials and rarely changes. Right side has multiple choices for each course and changes seasonally. Get the left side tasting menu the first time you go: Lobster Salad (more lobster, less salad, amazing) for the 1st course, the best Scallops (and mashed potatoes) I've ever had for the 2nd course, amazing Foie Gras 3rd, and your choice of fish or meat (tonight was Halibut or Lamb) for the main course. Amuse and dessert included. ~ 120 a person pre tax/tip.

I got the right side menu tonight supplementing the scallops because the right side has one less course than the left and I'm a fatty on the inside.

The lobster ($40 supplement) was to die for.

I've had almost everything on the menu, and you really can't go wrong ordering anything.

If you think you like fine dining, and haven't been to Picasso, do yourself a favor and go their ASAP.

BTW, it gets it's name because it has ~ $100,000,000 worth of original Picasso's on the walls. Fancy french food w/ a Spanish influence courtesy of chef Julian Serrano.
