White asparagus”panna cotta“, fresh almonds and lemon grass

This was delicious. There was also a nice savory bit of a tomato sauce on this plate as well. The acid contrasted nciely with the creaminess of the panna cotta.

Salad of tomato, olive oil with basil, tomato gelée topped with mozzarella cheese

I love really good fresh tomatoes, and I didn't know they could be this good.

Thin couscous and Oscetra caviar, smooth cauliflower cream, delicate gelée of green asparagus

We got a 3 part caviar course but it wasn't quite this. I don't like caviar much at all so I didn't enjoy it, but a friend who likes caviar was very happy with it.

Egg yolk in a baby spinach ravioli with morels

My favorite course of the meal. And I wasn't expecting it to be anything better than "pretty good" either. One of the tastiest things I've ever eaten.

Scallops royal with chive emulsion and buckwheat tuile

This was like a scallop mousse and a layer of lobster mousse as well. All 3 of us dining agreed it was one of the weakest dishes.

Truffle langoustine ravioli with chopped cabbage, Sea urchin, potato purée with a hint of coffee, coral and ginger perfumed tea

I've had sea urchin 3 times in my life before this, and didn't even come close to enjoying it any of those times. This was absolutely delicious and I was completely shocked. The langoustine was not very good and instead of a perfumed tea we had some sort of fishball soup with matsutake (spelling?) mushrooms that was pretty good.

Light pea velouté with mint on top of a delicate sweet onion custard

I hate mint. Hate it. So my opinion here isn't really fair. That said both of the people I was with both also didn't like this dish.

Smoked and seared Tuna, cauliflower, Nori and green curry

I love seared tuna. This wasn't any better than the seared tuna I make at home, which was kind of sad. Then again, I don't think good tuna needs much more than salt, pepper, ponzu, and some intense heat for a few seconds.

Sautéed veal chop with natural jus and vegetable taglierinis flavored with pesto

This wasn't satueed when we got it, it was sous vide. And I don't remember what else was there, and I don't care. Very moist/tender/delicious. Best veal (although not much competetion) of my life.

Soy beans cooked risotto style with lemon zests and coriander

I was confused when this came out. I'm not really sure it was this. I thought I was about to eat risotto but it was something entirely different with a weird texture/mouth feel that I couldn't quite put my finger on. It wasn't edamame though, so I don't think this was quite the same as the dish on the websites menu.

Red fruits granite, fresh raspberry and yogurt sorbet

Delicious. And I don't really like desserts.

Caramel crémeux infused with Arabica, chocolate rice soufflé

Delicious. And I don't really like desserts.

Looking for some nice (not TOO expensive) places that are good for a party of 8 near the area of the strip by the venetian (bellagio would be fine). Anyone have any good suggestions? So far we have plans to go to Bouchon for brunch and CUT for dinner.

A nice place on Fremont Street is Hugo's Cellar at the Four Queens.

Great food, service, and wine selection.

So excited!

Friend just confirmed that we got a reservation for a chef's table at Table 10 (new Emeril one at Palazzo) for this weekend. I can't wait. Hopefully, I will remember to bring my camera and get some nice pics. I am not much of a foodie, but will try to take some notes for a trip report.

Edit: Ugh..I just realized this should be in the fine dining thread. If a mod can move it, that would be great.

Had a meal at SW steakhouse and it was the best steak in LV. Here were the three dishes that made my night:

Bone-In NY Steak (Nebraska cornfed) - By far the tastiest cut of the cow and was as good of a steak as I've had (I've been to places all over the country).

Creamed corn with truffles - if you like truffles, this was unbelievably fragrant with truffles.

Potatoes Au gratin - simple straightforward but done right.

Do yourself a favor and be sure you order the Mallasadas for desert. Truly exceptional. The tartare trio appetizer is excellent.

claytons vegas food reviews:

N9NE - 9.5 out of 10. sick good food, wine service, trendy/club esque, good lighting, comfy chairs, ridiculously good steak

Craftsteak - 9 out of 10. Steak was average, skirtsteak was incredible, appetizers/deserts were above average, the wait staff was v. good, however the vibe didnt come off as distinctive. You could use the exact same atmosphere with just about any food type at craftsteak, and I found this to be a turnoff.

Okada - 9 out of 10. The stone nuts for Tepanyaki-style grilling. Great saki selection, great chefs, ridiculous ambiance (near waterfalls and windows everywhere). Amazing kobe, good sushi.

Nobu - 8 out of 10. Very good sushi, didn't like that it was really loud inside, some courses were meh. Excellent wait staff.

Social House - 9.5 out of 10. The stone nuts for sushi, top-notch saki selection, everything you would ever need re: sushi, amazing ambiance/vibe, above average waitstaff. Perfect for sushi IMO

Fix - 8.5 out of 10. Appetizer heaven, but too dimly lit and loud for my tastes. Perfect venue for going with dates/other people before hitting a club scene or something. The crispy rice/spicy tuna selection is one of my top 5 favorite foods of all time.

Pho @ Treasure Island - 7 out of 10. I love Pho. Standard Pho place with keno-diner atmosphere. Pho rules, etc.

Clearly I need to go to more places, because I've run out of venus. Oh well, enjoy the reviews.

I really enjoyed Corsa Cucina at the Wynn. The mozzarella di bufala was melt in your mouth creamy - just that appetizer alone is worth a trip. Sorry I missed your question two days ago.

TT, were you replying to thebeebster? Because I would not classify Rosemary's as Italian food.

It's contemporary American, with a leaning to Louisiana roots.

Ate at Marche Bacchus yesterday for the first time. Great cheese/fruit/meat platter. Extensive wine available in their retail shop ($10 more than retail is their "wine list", pretty sweet deal). Good wine by the glass list as well, with both 3oz and 5oz pours.

Good crab cakes. Great scallops + risotto, very good sea bass. Dessert was very good. Service was great. Will do again.

someone earlier in the thread asked about yellowtail at bellagio. I ate there with a few other 2+2ers last week and the consensus was that we'd rather spend half as much at Naked Fish's and enjoy the meal quite a bit more. I enjoyed what I ate but it was nothing special at all for what we paid.

for those that like authentic Chinese/Asian food(not asian fusion which most places are in vegas), try Zine @ the Palazzo. only like $40-50ish a person. Food and service have been very good the few times I have been there. pretty sure almost everything is cooked, no sushi, and a lot of noodle/soup dishes.

Ive never seen as many 1st generation Asians in one place as I have when eating there, lol. Pretty good indication of the place, if you ask me.

Corsa is closed, Alex Strata is now the executive chef and I am told the food is much better, its called Strata (what else!)

I screwed up, I confused Nora's with Rosemary's in that post - my bad. Both are excelent options IMHO, two of the best off-strip restaurants in Vegas.

Damn, I really liked the food there. Of course, I loved the food at Alex, so this can't be too bad of a change. Found this link about the change.

I guessed that you were thinking of Nora's, I should have said as much. Only ate there once for lunch, but it has a nice neighborhood feel to it. Nice people, and good food. Plenty of southern Italian classics, and some other things where they are trying for something new. Reasonable prices and big portions.

Hate to bump a dead thread, but I see a whole bunch of recommendations for steaks, but very few for seafood.

Where are the good seafood restaurants in vegas?

David Burke @ Venetian would probably be the place for Lobster on the strip

I ate at RM Seafood in Mandalay Bay back in May (from the Poker room and Sportsbook head to the walkway to the Luxor and it's right there) and was happy with it.

The restaurant has a casual level downstairs with a more limited menu (where I ate, but the raw bar was good and the fish cooked perfectly) and finer dining upstairs.

It was years ago when I ate there, but Emeril's at MGM Grand had quality fish dishes, too.

I really wanna try N9NE but I went to "The Steakhouse" in T.I. last time I was there and it was WONDERFUL!...had a huge ribeye steak that was incredible. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

BOA is really good. Service was top knotch... menu was top knotch... best Caesar salad I've ever had. I ate there until it hurt.

Next door is Sushi Roku, which never gets love in these threads because apparently Nobu is the tits (I've never been). Admittedly, I'm not that hard to impress, and I have only had horrible sushi once, that was in Madrid, where the rice was hard and nasty... but I really really enjoyed my experience at Sushi Roku, the service was excellent, the menu very very tasty.

I ate at Restaurant Charlie (Charlie Trotter) in the Palazzo last weekend. Expensive but definitely worth it. The menu is geared towards seafood, but there are other options.
