Anyone been to Kyara off 215/Jones? Yelpers seem to love it. I think it might be worth a try. It's Japanese Tapas..

It's ok. I'm pretty sure it's owned by the same people as naked fish. The carpaccio/new style sashimi/whatever you want to call it is similar to the stuff at naked fish and I like that stuff. In particular the yuzu chili salmon is really good.

A lot of the cooked dishes lean in the direction of sticky, sweet, mayo-heavy, westernization. I like Raku and Ichiza better for similar food.

Thanks. It's literally 3 minutes from my house though, so I suppose it's a decent option if I'm feeling lazy.

Ya. My review may have been a bit harsh. I enjoyed almost everything I got there, some of it was really good. There's just some pretty stiff competition in that genre from Raku and Ichiza. In a lot of other cities, Kyara would be somewhere I'd be excited to go.

Not sure how it took me so long, but I finally went to Monta for the first time. The pork broth was so umami-rich and among the best I've ever had. The eggs tasted like they were sous-vide, with velvety yokes, and I found it cool that they sliced them with what looked like fishing line.

Best Korean BBQ place? I've been to Mother's which I really enjoyed, but want to know if there are even better options out there.

Copying from the menu it is:

Tonkotsu-Shoyu Ramen 豚骨醤油 6.95
Tonkotsu-Shoyu (”pork bone and special shoyu base”) Ramen has a cloudy white colored broth. The broth is like a mix of the Tokyo and Kyushu style blend. This style is the newer trend in Japan.

+ Egg
+ Pork
= I have been craving it ever since I stopped eating it

Everything at Monta is fantastic. I like the Tonkotsu better personally but Tonkotsu-shoyu is good too. Very small place though, so best to go on off-peak hours.

DJK is good and open 24/7. Go after midnight and they have 10% off the entire menu. If you feel like pigging out, there's an AYCE Korean BBQ place across the street, Tofu Hut, that also has discounts between 12am-3am.

a few of us went to lucio on flamingo last night for dinner. no real complaints about the food, i liked everything i ate and thought it was worth the money.

but the service was downright humorous.

the waiter was just awful and terribly annoying. tried way too hard to entertain us, he wasn't amusing at all, and it took forever to both order the food and for the food to come. he flat out forgot one of the appetizers but still charged us for it.

the wine follies were the best part. we ended up buying some $35 bottle after he unsuccessfully tried to sell us a bottle that was over $100 (bad read buddy!). we finished the wine and he asked us if we would like another bottle.

everyone had their fill, so we declined. then, he came back 5 minutes later with bottle in hand and asked again. we declined again, and he said "ok no problem, i'll just leave the bottle sitting over here in case you change your mind."

then he came back to the table for a third time and asked again, knocking the price down to $25. we declined. he also gave the girl at our table a free glass of some other ****ty stuff that nobody liked.

10 minutes later he asked a record-setting fourth time if we would like another bottle, reducing the price to $20!! we were unbelievably polite and declined yet again. i told him we're holding out until it's $5.

re-telling this story it seems like something from a bad comedy movie, but i assure you that this really happened. we joked about haggling on our entree prices but i think that we actually should have...

Had this when I was in Vegas last week. Actually the last couple of times I was there, I went at least once. Also finally got to eat at Raku. Was so good wife wanted to comeback after midnight. Unfortunately, we got too tired.
Definitely the two places I would eat at every time I am in Vegas.

Okay... here it is you nuts. hot off the press.

Wahoo's fish tacos
just opened there first Nevada operation right by my house on Rainbow and the 215 fwy(I think it is Sunset blvd on the north side of the freeway)... don't walk, RUN to this place if you have never had a REAL fish taco! I don't mean some deep fried piece crap with mayonnaise on it, I mean a blackened fresh fish taco on a bed of cabbage with FRESH made pico de gallo and guacamole... no other crap.

comes as a meal with beans(white or black) and rice, but they do something special with the beans and rice... really, top notch fresh cooking straight from my area in the the golden state, Newport Beach! If you are a veghead but eat fish, this is your place.

Wahoo's fish taco's... dont miss it!

Wahoo's was founded in Costa Mesa, California in 1988 by Chinese-Brazilian brothers Eduardo Lee, Mingo Lee and Wing Lam, who mixed traditional Chinese and Brazilian flavors with dishes they encountered traveling in Mexico.[3][4] Wahoo's has expanded across California, Colorado, Hawaii, Texas and Australia. The corporate headquarters are in Santa Ana, California. They offer many vegetarian and even vegan options, such as tofu, banzai veggies and brown rice. The restaurant chain also offers a kid's meal menu.

How are restaurants etc when it comes to eating alone? Heading out to Vegas in a couple of weeks by myself and wondered if I'm likely to get dirty looks when asking for a table for one!!

you're golden, don't worry so much. I had apprehension when I first got here in Vegas also, but it's like most anywhere else in the USA. stay out of trouble and you will be okay.
