ya, i think it's really good. the fancy burger places are sorta indistinguishable to me tbh, but if you like burger bar or blt burger or any of those sorts of places, you'll like holstein's too.

Had three different burgers there (gold standard > steakhouse > rising sun) and all were really good imo.

I have seen stuffed peppers before, but none done with such elegance.

And given it looks like that and I find it visually unappealing, I am not likely to ever eat one.

For something quick, I have eaten at a McDonald's in Vegas and the difference in price between there and a hometown Mickey D's floored me.

Anyone here do the fountains brunch on sunday's at the B? The online menu looks pretty insane (caviar, king crab, crab claws, lobster, peking duck, tenderloin, kobe beef, std breakfast fare, slab bacon carved tableside, etc.). If that stuff is there IMO it's not even priced poorly at $58. Just wondering if anyone had been and had thoughts. Thanks.

I have not been but the thought of slab bacon carved at tableside has me drooling.

The place is a real dive so it will definitely not impress the ladies. Located behind Bally's. And $5 craps on a Saturday night!
I didn't eat at Ellis Island, but I drank their Hefeweizen. It had a buttery flavor. That's not what a Hefe is supposed to taste like, it was either a bad batch or horribly dirty lines and the worst Hefe I've ever had--bar none. The karaoke, however, was world class entertainment value

While on the subject, is Gordon Biersch the brewhouse by the Covention Center (behind the Wynn IIRC), and is it any good? Went to the place at Town Square last fall and the food was rather unremarkable.

Also, in the first page of the thread someone mentioned Jimmy John's and that everyone he knows has never eaten there. It's not a bad sandwich, we have them here in the Midwest.

Regarding Buca vs Maggiano's, Maggiano's wins all day. Would still rather have a small family owned place (like places on the Hill in St Louis)....

This may be freakishly unbelievable, but I have never eaten at a Jimmy John's and they seem to have one about every mile around here.

Yes, I know that is a freakishly large exaggeration.

It's kinda by the convention center but not really. On Paradise. Pretty ordinary food without being bad, not really much different than any other chain restaurant. Unremarkable would be an apt word. It's the kind of place you go for lunch when your office is next door.

However, of all the "chain" brewery places I've been to, they have the best in-house brews. The amber in fall is ridiculous.

I like Ram and Rock Bottom, I know you don't have either in LV, they have Rock Bottom in Denver but would have to look to see others close. We have both in Indianapolis.

This is very true and the reason I now bring a smoker with me when I hit Vegas at WSOP time.

(It's also hard to buy decent ribs and brisket to smoke here)

I din't have the Hefeweizen so I can't speak on that. I had one of their ales. I know Ellis Island has a real (more or less) restaurant, but they also have a BBQ only place and that is where I ate.

I don't want to oversell this place, but I thought it was cheap and decent. And reading through the last few BBQ posts, it doesn't seem like anyone has a clearly better choice.

But yea, the place is a dive and if you are a cleanliness nit it will not be your cup of tea.

He he I only went for the karaoke and had already eaten when I went there. I was just floored by the poor quality of the beer. Others have said EI's food isn't bad and is reasonable too. I just never went into the restaurant.....

In my league, I play with a guy who works at Jimmy John's and that's what we call him because he always has his Jimmy John's hat on. I've never eaten there, though.

I agree with the poster who said the prices at a Vegas Mickey D's is a lot more. On our last trip to Vegas, the fiancee and I had a stopover in Denver and I grabbed something at Mickey D's there and the price difference was about a buck and a half when compared to a hometown store, but in Vegas that same meal was about another buck fifty beyond Denver airport.

Had I known about Witchcraft and the fact it was around the corner, we would have gone there.

The tuna melt at Canter's Deli at TI was the best I ever had. It was probably 10,000 calories of deliciousness.

I've eaten at Jimmie John's and it's quite good. I prefer Capriotti's but the delivery from Jimmie John's is legit.

I've been going to china poblano a lot and it continues to be incredible and get better with every visit. They've started to have an expanding array of specials, most of which are awesome. I had tripe tacos there tonight for my first time ever eating tripe and they were incredible.

Can anyone else comment on if Nora's is a good quality Italian place?

I had heard one other person mention this and them someone mentioned it in this thread. For the prices, it seems pretty reasonable.

You know tripe is animal stomach/intestines, right? Maybe that's your thing, but I tend to let the dog/cat food purveyors focus on that sh|t.
