If a poke bowl place offers actual sushi rice and not just steamed rice then I am in.

Guy at Ted's asked buddy if he wanted sushi rice or brown rice in his bowl.

Actually yeah -- could totally have been. I was under the impression that if you're not sick anymore you're not contagious, but apparently (doing further research) that's not the case and you can still spread it for days to weeks. Terrifying. Probably one of the cooks or servers at IG thought the same thing and got us. Guess I owe my friends a beer...

What is the sushi burrito wrapped in?

Nori.

Indeed... Nori. Soho also offers brown rice and a soy wrapper if you don't like Nori or Gohan

H2O has actual sushi rice. It is well-seasoned.

i've never had a sushi burrito and i never will. i don't even order hand rolls, why would i buy some enormous hand roll

unless you're telling us there's something wrong with hand rolls and that none of us should be ordering them either, I'm truly not sure what your point is. You might as well have said "i dont like sushi so why would i order an enormous sushi roll," to which we'd say..."you wouldn't. cool."

Brian: poke bowls >>>>>>>>>> sushi burritos

Wyman: sushi burritos have been a HUGE deal in SF for years, this place sushirrito has had perpetual lines for years at multiple locations. I just never got the hype and don't think they're very good. I LOVE sushi including good rolls and hand rolls (usually my favorite type of roll). However, the rice:sushi/filling ratio is off and far inferior in sushi burritos.

The poke bowl, I think, as a concept is better. I got to choose the ratio of fish, rice, etc. with each bite. "I'd like just like some salmon" for my first bite. "I think I'd like some tuna and rice now," for my second. "I'd definitely like a tablespoon of wasabi all by itself now," was at play at any time I wished. It was a very enjoyable experience. I was able to curate my meal bite by bite. It was the opposite of Kabuto, but in a perfectly good way.

Ran out of fish early, but it isn't like I expected more than a few ounces of fish for $10, and having 28 lbs. of rice isn't so bad. I even got the bowl topped with kale salad, and that didn't even ruin it since pushing it to the side is an enjoyable experience.

(I'm a bit too embarrassed to say whether or not I actually liked the kale salad. Don't judge me, bro)

Bro... using Kabuto as a comparison or as an illustration for a poke bowl, even as an opposite, in an insult.

Hey guys, going down to Vegas for a couple weeks in early June to grind the cash games. I'm staying in the Monte Carlo with a friend and we're wondering what places on the strip are the best value for food, besides Grand Lux and Earl of Sandwich. We stayed in Venetian 2 years ago and got spoiled by Grand Lux, and then last year we stayed in MC and it was hard to find places to eat nearby that didn't charge us through the nose.

Firefly on Paradise. It's near Wynn. Just had some nice tapas there.

I'm inclined to agree with John Curtas on sushi burritos.

and if you don't already follow him he's a pretty great source of Vegas restaurant reviews, both high and low end

There's a place very close to Monte Carlo called Bruxie that is pretty cheap and quite good.

Need food advice. Staying at TI in early July for the Wynn Summer Classic. Any recommendations for breakfast, lunch and dinner within walking distance of Treasue Island?
