Where can I find the best ramen in Vegas?

Depends on preferences (type of ramen) and whether you're valuing appetizers, ambience, etc.

Monta, Sora, Jinya, and Tatsu should be a good start. I'm a Monta guy personally - Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen with nori, nitamago, and green onions.

Spicy ramen, add killer spicy meat, was one of my favorite meals while living in lv if you like spicy.

Have been reading this thread for a while and have picked up some restaurants I definitely want to check out with my wife in a few days.

We are planning to go to Hoover Dam on Friday, stopping at Lion Habitat Ranch and would like to picnic in Lake Mead. Looking for recommendations on where I can find a high end market that sells: charcuterie boards, good cheeses, olives, deli sandwiches, etc.

Also, are you able to drink wine while picnicking? Not looking to get drunk but a glass of wine or two would be nice.

Most all smiths have a very good cheese island with a very wide selection at decent pricing and also nice selection of olives. They also make a nice sandwich, but its not gourmet.

I am not really sure about alcohol in public... maybe if you keep it on the down low in paper cups.

On a side note, the new total wine just opened in town square right off lv blvd next to crys electronics.

Smiths has a better than avg cheese selection but Whole Foods >>> Smiths imo, and there's a WF in town square too near Total Wine. I see Valley Cheese and Wine on Yelp that looks good if you want a local joint but I've never been there. Will go now that I know it exists though.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did stumble upon Valley Cheese in Henderson. Looks much better than Smith's for charcuterie, although Smith's cheeses looks decent.

WF in California is not great value as they charge their cured meat by the piece (1oz) for $2ea and the quality is not great. Would much rather try from a local market.

I am still debating between going to the Dam/Lake Mead or driving to Red Rock which seems to have a better views in the picnic area. I am going to Lion's Ranch either way, but if not going to the Dam, Valley Cheese would be a 40 minute detour and probably not worth the drive there.

Hoover damn is VERY impressive... really it is. that being said, red rock is great also. try to do both, the distance isn't that bad. 20-25 minutes from the strip for Red Rock.

Thank you. I will consider it. What about Lake Mead? Seems to be in the way. Is it worth the stop?

Weird. They have plenty of cured meat you can get sliced here in the deli with the cheese. Decent selection, though it doesn't rotate much if at all. Thinking in the $20/lb range so $32/lb seems awful but I could be mistaken.

if u r just looking for a place to go chill for the afternoon and enjoy a picnic with a view, Red Rock is probably your better option. there is an overlook area there right on the main highway that has an area where you can sit and picnic. plus it's a free area; u don't have to pay to go there unlike the main Red Rock loop. I haven't been in the pay area in ages so I don't know if that picnic area is better than the overlook area. The only downside is that the overlook area can get crowded and it's first come first serve and u may not get much privacy.

Any of the South Point restaurants (Silverado Steakhouse, Don Vito's). Also, for a family meal don't forget the M Resort Thanksgiving To Go (serves 8, you pull up to the loading dock and they put it in your car).

Serves 8? That could probably last me all day Thursday AND Friday.

Does South Point do a Tday buffet as well?

Does anyone know if any of the CET places do a good Tday buffet?

Every buffet in town will have a thanksgiving buffet going. Quality will vary.

Guess I thought it was implied that I was asking about quality, but I should have said so explicitly.

I did the Diamond Lounge at Paris last year. It was amazing for Free.99 and the staff was great for having to work Thanksgiving.

Man for $225 plus tax I'd rather just pay and eat at the casino, somewhere off strip has to be cheaper than that
