So looking for general tips
10 guys going to LV on Monday for a stag do. Pool parties during the day and clubbing during the night. Looking for some c.$35pp places to eat (exc. booze). No dietary requirements just looking for the kind of thing 24 year old guys eat - so nicest burger places, chicken etc. Thx.
Eat at the pool parties and night clubs. That should have lunch and dinner covered.

That's odd because it's really easy to get a concealed weapons permit. Years ago in AZ I would see people open carrying from time to time, but there was no concealed carry back then.

Anyone have a good sub place aside from Capriottis? They're fine, but if there's another mom n pop place, or even a small chain, I'm all ears.

I am still raging from ordering a chicken cheesesteak with hot peppers and onions at the one on town center at 2:00 this afternoon and getting to work to discover no peppers and no onions and it was terrible since it had essentially nothing on it and was all bread.
I thought I finally got over it after my 12 hour hopital ER shift and opened this thread when I got home - now again so mad I won't be able to sleep lol

I don't have one. I get caps, jersey mikes, and the occasional hot sub from cuginos or broadway pizza, but these are mostly out of convenience to work or home. none of these is really earth shattering. Sandwich spot I thought was great when I had one in Palm Springs but my one visit to the way far away Vegas one was just ok. Pop's for cheesesteaks. I hear Those Guys Pies have subs comparable to back in NJ but haven't tried. If you are willing to go a different route, check out Dakao for Banh Mi.

Now, if you're looking for sandwiches and not specifically subs, the list changes, but start by working your way thru Goodwich's menu.

Capriotti's quality and service seems to be location dependent. The Paradise location (not sure if it's still there) had a great staff and some of the most loaded sandwiches I've had. The one in downtown Summerlin is terrible. They really skimp on the meat and staff seems to hate their jobs. Red Rock is somewhere in between.

I get samiches at Sprouts deli sometimes and depending on who is making them there can be some good value.

I'm going to start hunting for a Mom & Pop sandwich shop/deli.

Behind a good Capriotti's, Firehouse is a respectable chain sub shop.

Yeah, but imo >>> subway and walking distance for me.

And it's a similar style to Italian delis back in NJ, even if much worse (I would never have gone to one back there). I am not even sure where else I can find that style sub here.

Go in and eat. It's bomb. There is a strip location on the for North end as well.

I can vouch for:

cornbread pancakes they give you at lunch and dinner time
fried catfish
greens
oxtails
smothered chicken
fried chicken
fried chicken and waffles
pork chops
breakfast is great there as well because you can get a lot of different proteins other than your typical ham, bacon, sausage breakfast proteins. I've had fried catfish with eggs, grits, and a biscuit there several times. Tasty breakfast!

Any of the banh mi shops if you are looking for subs.

With everyone else that I haven't found a great cheese steak place. Straight from philly/capriotis/those guys are all fine and jersey mikes is ok if you like a ton of bread with a small amount of cheesesteak.

I did check out Weiss Deli for the first time on sunset/green valley parkway and so far the pastrami on rye was excellent.

Firehouse to me is the real stay away from place beyond subway.

Pop's is a decent cheesesteak choice and they're open 24/7.

Geri's Olde Philadelphia was bomb, but they closed down.

You ordered a chicken cheesesteak. You did this with foresight and knowledge of the sin you were committing against humanity and sandwichdom. Nay, it was a sin against the universe itself when you committed this purposeful act of ordering an nonsensical and unholy sandwich.

May God have mercy on your soul.

You know, when I visited San Diego recently, it was quite clear to me that Vegas is missing a kind of casual but great restaurant...a truly great sandwich place, a truly great fish taco place (Although the new Tacos and Beer might be rectifying that one)...etc.

We have fantastic upscale restaurants on the Strip, obviously, and even a few off...and then we have a plethora of chain restaurants...but not many true neighborhood classics, you know?

Where did you go for the great sandwich in SD?

Rubios or a non chain for fish tacos?

haha love it

It was my sin of wanting food terrible for me, seeing some abomination that I think is healthier that really only saves 10% calories, and yet it sucks by 80%.
I'm going to go to Pop's tomorrow and order a regular cheesesteak and extra cheese onions peppers and add bacon to repent.

On a side note:
Habit burger seared Ahi sandwich is very very good for fast food healthy sandwich.
And that's legit ordering preference as I don't like burgers (not just a "healthy abomination menu choice" like a chicken cheesesteak)

El Zarape in University Heights is just fantastic. And I had breakfast and lunch at a place called Cantina...really good food and atmosphere. Plus, so many others..including cool wine bars, etc.
