Re: Las Vegas Casual Dining Thread

Cafe Rio, Pho Kim Long, Pho Little Saigon, Sen of Japan, Stripburger, Bachi Burger, Smashburger, TommyRockers, Blondie's...

Re: Las Vegas Casual Dining Thread

Wow I don't like that list.

Lotus is far and away #1 in Vegas.

Fat Greek is probably number 2.

You do have Setebello which is in contention for top 5ish.

Vegas has an amazing china town, and you gave it pretty much no love.

For Chinese food: Emperor's Garden, China Mama, Dong Ting Spring, that Dim-Sum place on Decatur

Korean BBQ: Mother's, Honey Pig, Kim-Chi

Japanese: Ichiza

Original Pancake house is one of the best places on your list. Why does it have a (meh) next to it?!?!

Mint Indian Bistro

Sen of Japan (if you put naked fish up there you have to put up Sen)

Bonito (mexican)

Thai Noodle House (two locations now, the best place in town BAR NONE for WSOP dinner breaks)

Monta (ramen)

Raku (japanese)

Musashi (MOTHER OF GOD)

Good call w/ Monta and Bonito. Can't believe I forgot Monta.

Raku and Musashi are both awesome (especially Raku), but they don't count as casual dining.

gobbo 01-27-2011 01:48 AM

Re: Las Vegas Casual Dining Thread

I count them as casual because of price and atmosphere. Musashi after midnight is dirt cheap and Raku is def casual.

Wooo I like this thread. How about more suggestions on the strip? I feel like most of the tourists looking for casual dining mostly just stay on the strip. I am going to vegas with some friends and we aren't renting a car. I will keep checking this thread for reviews/recommendations!

Lol, some of these are a little too casual. I mean I sdon't think we have to talk about fatburger.

Edit: Unless yous trollin.

Re: Las Vegas Casual Dining Thread

Bouchon Brunch fits the dress code and price range of casual dining, but not the other definitions. Deserves a spot on the list because it's hard to beat the value of that brunch IMO.

Oh Payard at Caesars def belongs on the list as well. That place is great, cheap, and quick.

gobbo 01-27-2011 05:36 AM

Re: Las Vegas Casual Dining Thread

The Palm at Caesars is good too. Business lunch special is a hell of a lot of food and it's pretty good.

As for places like Fatburger, some places they don't have everywhere and is really really good. Jimmy John's is my favorite place for deli subs and not everyone has ever had it before.

Bouchon is casual for breakfast and brunch and is absolutely phenomenal.

Earl of Sandwich in PH has really good sandwiches

When I read the original post, I was like, where TF is In-N-Out burger?

Re: Las Vegas Casual Dining Thread

Rachel's Kitchen is a super tiny cafe on like.. 215 / Town Center, has some cheap (price) healthy sandwiches, salads, etc.

Whole Foods might qualify just because I think its one of the healthiest places to eat in Vegas.

Fukuburger (fookoo) is a burger truck that is parked around the SW part of Vegas like 6 days a week. If you go to their website you can find out where. Open til super late and during the summer nights, pretty decent spot to stop by.

Re: Las Vegas Casual Dining Thread

Any value to sketching out some criteria for "casual"? Notwitshstanding great bar deals/specials/happy hour, etc., any list that has The Palm is probably overinclusive, especially in the minds of non-locals when they think of "casual." I don't have a great suggestion for objective criteria, but maybe (1) average dinner food-only check (not reasonably possible but average) < $25? IMO wardrobe is tough because Vegas wardrobe standards may not be typical of other places.

Re: Las Vegas Casual Dining Thread

ZJ,

Wasn't "my" list, but rather a cliffs of some similar threads that I combed (the pizza thread, the locals thread, etc)

I do think Original Pancake House sucks though.

I thought Lotus of Siam and Raku both not really casual restaurants at all but obv nothing wrong with adding them. I mean, both are discussed at length in the fine dining thread.

I don't think there's anything wrong with adding In n Out since so many Vegas visitors come from places without In n Out.

Rachel's Kitchen is a great addition. Good call.

Re: Las Vegas Casual Dining Thread

Good list. I’d add the following:

Hue Thai (cheap Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches + boba tea)

Pho Saigon 8 (waaaaay better than Pho Kim Long)

Firefly

Sushi Yama (doesn’t get much twoplustwo love, but I prefer over Oyshi and even Sushi Mon for ayce sushi)

Johnny McGuire’s Sandwiches

Naw son. Burger bar is better. Not better enough to cab from mirage to mb, but better.

The real point of this post, where the barbeque at?

Re: Las Vegas Casual Dining Thread

All signs point to TC's Rib Crib. I'm not a huge fan of soul food but have at it.

ProBoyMagic 01-27-2011 06:47 PM

Re: Las Vegas Casual Dining Thread

imo it's very hard to find quality bbq in Vegas. tried TC's once and wasn't super impressed. they attempted to open a Salt Lick at the Red Rock a while back (Salt Lick in Texas is the best bbq you'll ever have) but that completely bombed.
