Chicken was fantastic.

Greens were excellent.

Mac & cheese was par.

Yams were way too sweet. Didn't finish them.

They were out of okra! Sad times

When she said they were out of okra I asked her to choose the third one for me, that's how I got yammed.

Mac & cheese was a mistake, I should have known better.

Would definitely go back.
Getting the chicken not smothered is a forgivable mistake that I'm sure you will rectify during your next visit. (not suitable for a first date)

Southern-style yams are what they are. Basically a dish of brown sugar and butter with a hint of tuber.

Mac and cheese being "par" is about the best you could ever expect. You seem to know this, so I will definitely take your future reviews to heart.

Has anyone tried Stacks and Yolks? Their pancakes look pretty good. Seems like they have a lot of choices (pick your batter and toppings).

wouldn't go out of my way for it, but I was pleasantly surprised by Burger Lounge at Aria (next to the poker room). Prices were not unreasonable compared to a lot of other 'upscale' burger places either...

Fries were decent but not as outstanding as described by a couple of people at the table (including a dealer).

They do provide you with a pager so you can order and go back to your game...

The onion rings are the thing to get at burger lounge. Fries are average. Onion rings are really good.

Was fine. Good for business lunch. Split a roll and each had blackened fish with some sides. Wouldn't pay my own $$ for it.

Had Cornish Pasty a week ago. Sensational. Free parking around the corner, good beer selection and the food was so great. Can't wait to go back.

I made the mistake of trying to go to chada on Jones on the dinner break of Monday's 1k , ended up going to both before realizing that both are closed Monday and showed up 20 minutes late and tilted (went with pho on valley view/spring mtn se corner) , also at the breakfast burger at binions the other day. It has a very distinct flavor in their beef I like.

Checked out two newish places this weekend:

Therapy on Fremont. Great vibe, cool drinks, interesting menu...but the food was meh. Kind of bland all around.

Starboard Tack - utterly fantastic dive bar with a kitschy nautical theme off of Sahara and Eastern. Literally the best cocktail menu in Vegas that can fit on one page. The food was also eclectic and yummy.

Starboard Tack is my new favorite hang.

Awesome, thanks Dominic. Will check it out. My newfound love for Frankie's Tiki Room is about to be tested...

I love Frankie's, but this place is awesome...the food and drinks are fantastic. They had this one cocktail where if a certain song was playing as they were making the drink, they'd make it a double.

Great stained glass decorations with sharks and fish, and good, comfy booths

Eating at pho soba (sw corner of twain \valley view ) because a local told me their Korean style short ribs are good. They ok. Def worth the 5-10 minute walk from rio . even in this heat.

Makinos used to be one of my favorites but was disappointed last couple times there. The sushi didn't seem as fresh as it use to be.

It can be hit and miss during off peak times... but it's one of the only sushi places actually owned by a Japanese person. During peak times it's pretty good.

Odd story, I met Dick Butkis at Makinos one evening... quite charming for a middle linebacker.

Been a long term lurker but have used a lot of the suggestions here so I thought I'd share some fresh reviews from this year's trip:

Rollin Smokes BBQ - Their Burned Ends are the literal nuts

Chada Street - Pretty good Thai. Their Panang Duck Curry was very very good. I also got their Pad Thai (good, nothing flashy) as well as their ribeye steak (nothing special - wouldn't go out of my way to get it)

Fat Greek - Got the wrap and the salad with Falafels. Decent Greek fare but I wouldn't say it was a place worth going out of your way for

Monta Ramen - Good soup base. Good ramen. Pork was a bit lacking. Solid place overall but I may be a bit more tepid on this place than I should be because I have a lot of A+ ramen places back where I am from

MTO Cafe - tried the Fat Elvis. Looked great but tasted somewhat bland.

Yardbird - tried the fried chicken there and was very tasty. very convenient in the Venetian area if you are playing the deepstack and would go here again. Their tomato croquette was very interesting too and would try again.

Momofuku - their katsu was huge and delicious and filling. They do a great job with the furikake nori on the top and the juiciness of the katsu was comparable to the ones I've had in Japan. Their pork belly bao is also delicious although it was (and all the food there) were severely overpriced. But food wise, very satisifying

Secret Pizza - All of their pizza are nuts. Would go here every time if you are a fan of pizza

Arawen Thai - We had to settle for this place after going to Lotus of Siam and finding a 1 hour line and this was in the same block. Surprisingly good food. Their Pad Thai had egg yolk coating wrapped around the noodles which I thought was interesting. The yolk also tasted great with the noodles and this turned out to be one of the best Pad Thais I've had in a while.

Ichiza - I didn't have high hopes upon entering as their decour reminded me more of a cheap Chinese/Korean run izakaya than an authentic izakaya place and their menu looked very raggedy and not in a vintage Japanese izakaya way. The food however was pretty good. I got a bunch of bacon-based skewers (all fairly tasty), the hamburg gratin (the hamburg steak and the gratin are both popular Japanese dishes that don't see enough exposure in North America, IMO. it was decent) and the avocado-negitoro with quail egg (alright). Overall was pretty satisfactory but I again may be biased because of the quality of Izakayas in my home town as well as having tried Japan multiple times

Bouchon - Got the croissant+Benedict special for breakfast. Croissant was delicious with their blueberry jam. Eggs Benedict was very tasty and was worth the $20~ total damage. Only problem was I had a lot of trouble finding this place..
