NEW RECORD SESSION (IN TERMS OF HOURS PLAYED) AND PLEASANT ENCOUNTERS WITH FELLOW 2+2'ERS

After a couple of hours sleep, I ventured straight back to the Aria's poker room.

As per request from TonySoprano9, I hereby provide you with a quick photo tour of the walk from Monte Carlo to Aria. As you will see it is a really short and convenient walk which takes only 3:30 minutes from Monte Carlo's elevators to Aria's poker room (compared to 2:30 minutes from Aria's elevators to its poker room).

So it is a really viable and cheap option to stay at, if you want to nit it up and still want to be close to the Aria. Having said that, the rooms at the MC are for sure not as nice as the rooms in the Aria, but well, you pay 1/3 of the price, so what to expect. In terms of room tips: I recommend a high floor room facing non-strip areas (there is construction going on on the strip side).

One warning though: If you are smell sensitive, you should reconsider. The air in MC's rooms smells slightly like a mixture of vanilla and Windex... It is not in your face bad, but still noticeable.

Coming out of the MC elevators:

Walking through "Street of Dreams":

Up some escalators:

Down some escalators:

Enter the Aria, and immediately to your left is the poker room:

Played a fairly uneventful session until I met up with DSBaller and his gorgeous better half TO. For future reference: DSBaller wrote a pretty good TR himself, which you can find here (reading highly recommended):

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/10...014-a-1434594/

They were playing 1-3 NL at that point, and I had the pleasure joining the same table, which was a nice change coming from the rocky 2-5 NL table I was playing on before. Also met fellow 2+2er StevieP1, who was coincidentally at the same table. I thoroughly enjoyed the table talk between us four, while chipping up quite good without showdowns.

Also DSBaller chipped up quite nicely, winning a three-way all-in on the flop:

His flopped set held up:

Unfortunately DSBaller and TO had to leave that evening, so after they left I grabbed a slice of pizza at Five50....

...and went back to playing my usual 2-5 NL game, in which I chipped up quite well (in the peak up to 6.2k - in for 1.2k):

In the early AM I met another fellow 2+2er (pure_aggression) who joined my 2-5 NL table at that time. Super nice guy, who took roughly 800 buck from me due to me 5bet-shoving pre A5ss into him (he had kings as far as I remember-it's all pretty blury now).

When he was about to leave we shared some hand histories of that session and he actually made me aware that I have a bet-sizing tell. I will be eternally grateful for that hint.

Wanting to chase my cash-out record, I overstayed the optimal session length (by 17 hours I guess) and started playing my C-Game. After roughly 27 hours of play (a new record session in hours for me), I clocked out with a mediocre profit of 1.1k for the day (well, for two days to be precise).

Profit/Loss:

Daily P&L: +1.1k (27 hous)
Total P&l: -2.9k (41 hours)

Sounds like a fun day. Any chance you recall some of the table dynamics that led to you 5b shove A5 pre for 160bb?

As far as I recall I was iso-raising a guy in a straddled pot and pure_aggression 4-bet me... Super spewy to 5bet-shove there, I think only the fact that it was a 2+2er who was 4betting me lead to my decision to do so... I guess subconsciously I wanted to create a noteworthy event for the TR maybe.. I don't think in a cash game setting this play is +EV... Depending on stack-size 6bet-folding might be though...

hey LAG

Enjoyed playing / chatting with you as well. It is refreshing to see someone capable of actively engaging others at the table while simultaneously delivering the crushings!

Kinda rare nowadays. Catch ya at ARia today.

Loving the TR as usual.

Stayed at MC myself while playing at Aria mostly. By the fifth day I hated the smell so much I dreaded walking into the MC by the end of the day.

The location is superb though and the rooms were decent enough.

For the records: I'm a smoker, so not that smell sensitive. Please keep that in mind regarding my MC smell observations.

Definitely shorter to walk than to take the tram. Aria's poker room is literally 30 seconds walking distance from MC's tram station.

VARIANCE AND BBQ

Slept until the late am after my previous day's monster session and joined my usual 2-5 NL game after having a quick breakfast at MC's food-court.

In the next hours I experienced a two buy-in variance in my equity curve with two hands standing out played with on of my favourite hands (64 suited), which I hereby I would like to share:

Hand #1

Spoiler:
Or: How to lose money by playing good...

About 3 hours at the table. Villain 1 is a white guy in his 30s, claiming to be a reg playing Aria in the mornings and Red Rock in the evenings, has played a very tight and (in my eyes too) passive game until that point (but chipped up quite good), Villain 2 is an Asian kid who joined two orbits before, no reads due to no showdowns/inactivity.

Hero (1.6k) in SB with 64hh, Villain 1 (2.1k) raises to 15 UTG, Villain 2 (1k) calls from the CO, Hero calls as well.

Flop (48 USD):
Ks4c8h

Villain 1 bets 30, Villain 2 calls, Hero calls.

Turn (138 USD):
4s [happy days]

Villain 1 bets 70, Villain 2 raises to 210 [wtf?], Hero elects to call and reevaluate on the river, Villain 1 calls [wtf??]...

River (778 USD):
Qc

Hero checks, Villain 1 checks, Villain 2 jams for ~ 700 USD... Hero???

Spoiler:
hero folds since he has to assume that at least another x4 is out there, if not a full house

Spoiler:
villain 1 snap calls, shows top two, villain 2 mucks ... FML...

Hand #2

Spoiler:
Or: How to win money by playing bad...

Happens about an orbit later. Villain is an elderly Asian gentlemen who hadn't raised pre-flop since he sat down 4 hours ago. Super loose-passive player, sees a lot of flops, always calls flop c-bets but normally gives up at the turn (if not he has it). Villain just won a pot two hands before by calling through with a gut shot and two overs (KQ) which became a straight on the river.

Hero (1.2k) on the BTN with 64ss, everybody folds to villain (1.2k) in CO, who raises to 25 (!), hero calls, everybody else folds.

Flop (53 USD):
75Trainbow

Villain bets 35, hero calls.

Turn (123 USD):
8x [happy days again]

Villain bets 75, hero raises to 185, villain calls.

River (493 USD):
9x (no flush out there)

Villain checks, hero bets 295 for value, villain tank-jams all-in for ~900... Hero???

Spoiler:
hero sigh calls due to tilt because of hand #1, villain shows AA, hero scoops pot... normally hero would fold in that spot...

I'm really interested what you guys think of the lines, decisions and outcomes...

Chip stack porn:

Went with a friend for late lunch to my favourite BBQ place called "Rollin Smoke Barbeque" (as mentioned in my previous TR's: it's really really good stuff)...

Coming back to the Aria I ran into amusedlol after a bit of play... Decided to take a short break due to being tired after the meal...

... Went back to the tables at around 8pm and had a super soft table, hence declined Katana1979's and amusedlol's offer to join them for drinks (which I should have done in hindsight)... Got coolered three times in a row by the worst player of the table and went back to my hotel room at around 2am with a loss of 2.4k for the day...

Profit/Loss:

Daily P&L: -2.4k (13 hours)
Total P&l: -5.3k (54 hours)

Probably fold Hand #1 preflop, OOP with a bad hand I don't see any need to get involved. Fold the flop too, but that's more of a toss up since I'd figure any 4 or 6 puts us *way* ahead.

Once I see the turn I puke and call I guess. Hope to see AK, AQ, KQ, something like that. But know I'll see KK/88 a bunch too. Never expect to be beat by another 4 here.

Hand #2: I love having position here to make a call with a badish IO hand like we have. Against a guy this tight, I'd almost rather have 64s than AK. His range has to be super stacked at the high end. AA/KK almost entirely. A little bit of AK/QQ but not much from his description. So since we know almost his exact hand we can take the speculative call and play perfectly trying to crack him. Nits that tight don't like to fold and never see the screwball hands that beat them coming.

The tank makes me a *little* suspicious ... but it makes no sense with his description. JJ is the only hand that could be out there, but it really doesn't sound like he's playing the hand that way.
