Im playing the wsop mega stack june 25th, wife is coming mid week. I've only been solo for wsop so never did the show/dinner wife thing. gonna set wife up with spa day on Wed. Im giving up poker thurs fri looking for shows and nice dining:

being a newby being wife a few questions:

1)shows: thinking a cirq and maybe absinthe, never been to any show recommendations? how to get ticket: in advance if so best way. where to sit?
whats the best order dinner then show, or show then dinner

2) dinner: anything but nice steakhouse (we do that at home) like chinese, thai, korean, southwest, fusion no sashimi either. recommendations? reservations in advance?

3) lunch: anything goes. are luches all walkin or reservations in advance

4) wife doesn't gamble so casinos dont thrill her, what other things to do with wife? see or do. drinks and live music is great, blues jazz, acoustic. were not into younger "clubs" (have college kids already)

staying at the flamingo.

Been 3 times with other half so here are my reccomndations.

1. Mj the one at Mandalay bay for cirq show, been to the Beatles one at mirage which was very good also. Absinthe is great just stay away from front row unless you want to get involved.

2. Lemongrass at aria was very good when we went. if your there on a Sunday also try sterling brunch at ballys if your feeling baller. It is around $100 each but the buffet is top notch and it is bottomless Perrier jouet champagne.

3.lunch we enjoy sitting in sports bar and having a couple of beers and some sliders/wings . I know this isn't lunch but I'd reccomend having breakfast at mon ami gabi in Paris right across from the fountains. Food is beautiful and a really nice atmosphere to set you up for rest of the day.

4. Check out chandalier bar in the cosmo and try the cocktail that comes with the little flower thing that numbs your mouth (it's in neeme latest vlog). Check out sky fall lounge at Mandalay bay aswell for amazing views of the strip on the balcony with cocktails.

Hope some of this helps and enjoy

Has wife ever been to Vegas before? I know you said she doesn't gamble, but if she has not been to Vegas, she may well be like my mom was when I took her in February- she was actually content to just walk around looking at the different styles and to see some of the things she had only seen on television. I know things are a bit different (likely) between your wife and my mom...mom was 70 going on 71 when we were out there and she knew she was second-fiddle to my Circuit schedule.

She wound up passing on going downtown even though some of those properties would have been what she had seen many years ago in the movies. Also on the prospective list had been neon museum and the mob museum. She enjoyed the Bellagio fountains (we staked out a space dead center) and even liked the volcano show just down the street.

She had not been to Vegas since basically the late 50's or maybe 1960. It was sensory overload for her by the end of the trip. That being said, with more time, she indicated she would have liked to see the Dam but isn't fond of the notions of helicopter excursions (she was on a cruise a few weeks after one of the helicopter excursions she considered had gone down due to pilot error).

The only show we saw was Penn & Teller...she got called up on stage by Teller for one of the gags which made for a memorable experience and got the oohs and aahs from friends she told the story to when she got home.

Ill checkout the restaurant recommendations.like the french breakfast idea. Dinner is big event , the rest will be light drinks and casual.

Early dinner at bellagio yelllowtail. On the small patio overlooking the fountains was one of the best, most memorable meals ever....

Oppresive heat was already gone. Food great, and setting unbeatable.

They have limited seating outside, so you may need to speak to hostess to rsrv / figure out optimal time.

Then off to the show....

Just my .02

I was gonna say this dude at the East Side Lounge at Encore might interest you, but apparently he's no longer performing there.

I randomly ate at Hakkasan last summer and their cantonese food was pretty legit. (I'd assume their club is not up your alley) The options at Wynn/Encore are really good as well, albeit pricey.

1. Cancel the reservation at Flamingo and set up shop somewhere nicer. I did this 10 years ago, choosing Wynn as my hotel. Wife loved it. We've been back to Vegas every summer since.

2. My wife loves the pool to just chill out and not get bothered (we got kids).

3. Our favorite places to eat (mostly casual) excluding steakhouses ... Lavo, Allegro, Nora's, Lakeside, Burger Bar, Boiler Room, Peppermill, Jose Andres.

4. Favorite shows have already been mentioned -- Absinthe, Beatles, Michael Jackson.

if you staying at flamingo,, first, do the 20 dollar trick and upgrade to the newer rooms, the GO , adult pool is quite alright ..

do the touristy **** with her if its her first times,, the good rooms in flamingo have a direct view of the strip/bellagio fountains, so walking up and down the strip in late june can be hellish..

if you are renting a car, the las vegas premium outlets (north) ,, are quite good.. plenty of things to do , but its people specific.

Cantor and Dozer's advice is really good on all points. For variety's sake, I'll add:

If you want Central Strip, but want a better experience for the wife, consider upgrading to Mirage. If you want her to be excited about the trip, impress her with Wynn/Venetian/Aria. All are offering solid deals if you have their players cards, otherwise you can check Las Vegas Advisor for deals. Start playing the MYVegas app on Facebook and on your smartphone now to get set up with an MLife membership if you don't have one. If you do, just a few weeks of play could be enough to get you a bogo Cirq ticket. Flamingo is so hit and miss with rooms, and I find the Caesars properties to be not as well-run as others (even CP).

I prefer show, then dinner if time permits. Since it is Vegas, lots of places seat late to accomodate for show times or time zone changes. Definitely pre-game drink before a show if you are so obliged. Seeing a show on a full stomach takes something out of it for me, similar to playing poker full.

Cirq shows are great, although I would skip Zumanity if given a choice to see it again. The shows you listed are loved by most. I'm taking the wife to see Frankie Moreno at the Golden Nugget in July, as they have a bogo offer going on there.

Olives at Bellagio is great for lunch if you can get patio seating for a fountain view. Reservation is encouraged, although I think patio is fcfs.

Do SkyFall Lounge for their happy hour, as the view is spectacular from atop Delano. Adjacent Rivea provides more of the same with high-end dining (can we call Rivea fine dining, as it is priced as such?).

For the uninitiated, a first time dining at Tao can be a pretty fantastic experience. Drinks beforehand don't hurt.
