I will never understand people who think in-n-out > 5 guys. It honestly isn't even close. Fast Food people seem to be very budget conscious. In-n-out has terrible fries and their burgers are average. 5 guys has GOAT fries and underrated burgers. Also, 5 guys has so many options as far as toppings.

3 months ago, though it's not technically in the casino. They have an outdoor mall thing in the front. The restaurant is outdoors as well which is a pretty mindblowingly terrible decision but I'll include that in the review.

Yes, first one in vegas. It's by far the best place to go to get Chicago pizza right now. Pizza was exactly like back home.

Okay, well I stay at Bally's a lot, and have seen this place in the "bazaar". I like Pizza Hut-style pan pizza a lot and have been to other places that claim Chicago style but were nothing like the 2 inch deep thing in that pic. I'll have to give it a try.

It's the way people in Chicago like it, for whatever weird reason. I don't think they should even be allowed to call it pizza. That thing is so far away from a pizza, they might as well call it lobster bisque.

for comparison how does giordano's deep dish pizza compare to lou malnati's? have only had lou's before in CHItown.

I haven't had fresh Lou's in a while so I can't make direct comparison (and I'm from downstate where I had Papa Del's far more often). Most of the chicago pizza I've had since moving to Vegas is from various par-baked and frozen pizzas that you finish in the oven. They turn out pretty well but it's very hard to get the crust exactly right. The crust at Giordano's on the strip is pretty much perfect.

In-N-Out use freshly cut Idaho potatoes for their fries, and cook them to order.

Not really much more to say.

I'm from the east coast and still prefer In-n-Out to 5 Guys. I think the burgers are pretty equivalent but INO is much cheaper and faster. The fries at 5 Guys are somewhat better (though not all-time great), but they give you way too many even with the smallest possible order, which is far too expensive...and who wants to eat leftover fries?

+1 for smashed pig. They have great fish and chips but the burger is even better.

lol, so your complaint is that you get too many fries? I don't think I have ever heard this as a bad thing in my life. The fries at 5 guys are just so superior to in n out (i personally think the fries suck). Also, ive gotten some of the cooks at 5 guys to cook my burger rare, those burgers were really top notch for fast food.

The complaint was more that the smallest possible fries order is too large and accordingly expensive, which doesn't seem that crazy.

I'd rather get an appropriate number of fries for $1 than way too many fries for $4.

I get the nitty approach I guess, but I am always happy to pay 50c more to make sure I am full. +EV move is to fill up on the fries and save half the burger for later.

Jimmy can I request a standard and pour review? Henderson is sorely lacking a more upscale place, was hoping this might be it?

Tried the Soho Sushi Bowlrrito from: http://jimmyeatsvegas.com/soho-sushi-bowlrrito/. Aside from a stupid name, it's got really damn good food. Good call Gobbo.

That might change when they finally start to factor your eating habits into health care premiums. (or put a penalty tax on fried food)

Haven't been there but always thought that a high quality fish/seafood option at Chipotle or Qdoba would be pretty awesome.

I will be interested to try the pizza. In Chicago I would say Lou's is the gold standard. The Giordano's depends on the location. The one in Rosemont, you would be better off eating cardboard. But the one on Irving Park is very good. Now if Burt Katz would have opened a pizza place in Vegas..............

To me, the fries are only good when hot. If you have too many they do not taste good after about 5 minutes. Anything I can not eat in that time is a waste.

Wife and I capped a day at GVR with dinner at S+P. Highly reco.
We went after dark, got an open window seat, and quickly realized why it was open. Drafty and cold.....but quite a view of the distant cityscape.

A last tribute to Kerry Simon, small, shareable plates. Menu divided into V, F and M for veg, fish and meats, as well as dessert- we had no room. Waitperson sugg'ed one from each, and we obliged.
Salt/pepper fries, shareable Caesar, Calamari, crispy oysters ( all to myself, yum), meatballs and chicken wings. Perfect....and we'll get all different things next time.

Is this the great, fine, big night out place that many people want to evolve in Henderson? IMO, no. Its just a great, small, neighborhood, friendly, tavern/restaurant place. Casual, vibrant, and pretty trendy. They call it, accurately, a gastro-lounge. Enjoyable, and worth the visit if in the area.

Gobbo:

Going to be staying at the South Point for a week.

Have you tried any of the restaurants there?

One site said Michael's was the best fine dining restaurant in ALL of Las Vegas..any truth to that?
