Yes, I do think that the companies that are going to buy all suites and luxury seats in the new stadium can have an impact on various decisions, including on a practice that NFL teams barely tolerate.

Market size alone isn't a deciding factor anymore with the way the current TV contract is structured. A couple of years ago the idea of moving a team from the 6. largest market to the 40. largest market would have been laughable. Now it wasn't a major issue, at least according to what Goodell and some of the owners said.

The Raiders won't even control 50% of the parking spaces anyway, and no chance they prohibit alcohol in what they do control. Will be a sellers market for those suites and buyers aren't in a position to demand anything.

Have you ever been to an NFL game? Lol at prohibiting tailgating.

" MANICA Architecture confirmed on March 28th that a full nude strip club will be included into the stadiums design to honor the heritage of Las Vegas."

Lol I don't believe this for one second!

Surprised that there is no mention of the Clark county brothel exemption. 😁

Wonder if the fertitta brothers have anything to do with this, heard a rumour before that a big reason they sold the ufc was to try to bring an NFL team to vegas.

Mayor Goodman wants the stadium downtown. Makes sense because there would be more room for parking and much easier on transportation. But the Raiders want to be near the strip. So, Russell Road & I-15 it is.

I'm wondering if the novelty of the NFL in Las Vegas will wear down by, say, 2030? By then every team will theoretically have played at least one game in Vegas. And by then, will sports betting be legal everywhere? How special will Vegas be compared to anywhere else where there are casinos, night clubs, awesome dining and sports betting?

I could be wrong, but doesn't NGC prohibit betting on local (NV state) sports? I seem to remember there is never a line when UNLV or UNR play in college football (the only sport I really follow). Could be mistaken though, I only pay attention when one of those plays an SEC team which is not often.

I believe the restriction was lifted in 2001 (by NGR 22.120(b)).

True, the town already just about sells out every Superbowl. Will be a boom for folks that list on AirBnB & similar.

I have recent experience when the Santa Clara 49ers built a new stadium about 3 miles from where I lived. You just have to pay attention to when homes games are, and sometimes they're on Monday or Thursday, and stay off the nearby freeways in a 2 hour window around kickoff and the same when the game ends.

I suspect the Strip will be impassable at those times. There's no mass transit to this stadium except buses? There will be 30k+ people going (this is the Raiduhs after all) and it took less than 20k going to Thomas and Mack during the NBA all-star game to bring the city to a halt.

It's far more likely to seriously impair the local economy than to help it in any meaningful way.

The research has been done over and over on public financing of stadiums, and in general they're atrocious for the taxpayers and communities. The Vegas one could very well be the biggest disaster of them all, what with it being (from the link below):

"At $750 million, it’s the largest direct public subsidy for a stadium ever granted"

This gets into the details pretty well:

One of the things the article doesn't mention is that it's a football stadium.

So let's say 30 years, 10 home games per year (because they go 14-2 every year over the next 30 years and play two playoff games at home), 2.5 million per game. At the first game look around at each of yhe 50,000 people and realize the city paid an additional $50 per person per game in addition to whatever the team itself charges. At the season closer in 2030, look around at the empty seats and realize that the city is still paying $50 per person per seat. In 2040, when the Raiders are bitching about how old their stadium is and threatening to move to the underwater city of New Los Angeles, remember that you're still paying $50 per person per game. In 2050, when you come back to Las Vegas from Mars Colony to bring your grandkids to their first 1-G NFL game, you can celebrate that the massive subsidies you cheered for are coming to an end.
