My visual scale might be way off but that doesn't seem to budget a lot of room for parking.

At it's widest points its 1/2 mile by 1/4 mile. I am thinking they will have to build a multi level garage.

Wider view

Ford Field in Detroit is on less square footage:

According to Google Earth's ruler tool, it is about a quarter mile square.

That's unfortunate. Surface lots are immeasurably better for tailgating.

I was talking to somebody about Vegas tailgating yesterday and we came to the conclusion, that the casinos prolly want to keep people on their premises as long as possible before games instead of them tailgating at the stadium. Wouldn't be surprised if tailgating was a no-no at least for NFL games.

As far as parking goes, I'd assume they will have by far the lowest number of people driving to the stadium among NFL teams?

Between the Raiders and the Golden Knights (hate that name) it will be boom time for the local freelance video production population. If anyone is interested, the local market is short on graphic, replay operators and sound guys.

I'll be hoping to pick up the TD (technical directing) work.

Why there will be plenty of room across the highway at Mandalay Bay for the low, low price of $75 per game. Space available for tailgating in the large open lot at the convention center for a small $100 surcharge.

Replay operator?? I can do that! How hard is it to push the button that looks like << and then the one that looks like > and maybe the one that says "slow mo"?

Re: Its Official! Las Vegas Raiders by 2020

LoL Its not that hard once you learn the interface. The process of clipping and naming the plays while still following the action on up to 4 cameras at a time without freaking out takes some practice and confidence.

Then there's the call to string together into a playlist what the producer is looking for, like the last 4 sacks by #whatever and you have 20 seconds to do it.

Best behind the scenes video ever produced on the subject of sports production:

Super Bowl 2022 and beyond isn't decided yet and the NFL likes new/remodelled stadiums. There's a decent chance that Vegas will get 2022 or 2023.

Is that where the new place is? I thought Inglewood was the ghetto/near ghetto. That's the way they talk about it in Pulp Fiction.

'Los Angeles Stadium at Hollywood Park' will be right next to The Forum. In case anyone still remembers pre Staples Center days.

Is Las Vegas sure it's the Raiders they're getting and not the Invaders? Double check the fine print. Mr. Davis testified when that other league won a buck.

Superbowl in Vegas would be the nuts. I'd consider flying out and I never go to the superbowl.

You know the tickets are usually a couple grand, right? For Vegas, maybe twice that?

These posts make me so happy.

Las Vegas offered $750 million to a billionaire who convinced them that all these Raider fans were going to fly in and drop more than $750 million at the tables.

The Raiders are the Las Vegas Raiders now. They're going to lose a good chunk of their fan base and expect Las Vegas to pick up the slack. All the rioting and malfeasance that goes on will go on in Las Vegas. And those Raider fans that everyone now views as outsiders will become an integral part of Las Vegas.

It may or may not be worth it in the long run. But I know one thing for sure, it's surely not going to live up to the rosy expectations that Adelson brought up back when he thought he could force his way into half ownership.

You actually concluded that MGM Grand and Harrahs are going to be able to stop the Raiders from allowing tailgating? lol what?

Re: Its Official! Las Vegas Raiders by 2020

Did Adelson ever really want to be a part owner of the Raiders? I thought this whole thing was a ploy to stop development of a new convention center that would impact his Sands convention center business? Looks like he got exactly he wanted, or are they still going to renovate or put in a new convention center?

Also in a weird way I consider Vegas an extension of the LA market. LA is going from no football teams to essentially three teams, I don't see the market being able to support them.

Re: Its Official! Las Vegas Raiders by 2020

February 2022, a date that would sound futuristic if told to someone from 2005. This day Las Vegas is holding its first Superbowl, The New England Patriots vs The Chicago Bears in what could be Tom Brady's final game of his career. The air is hot on this February afternoon in Vegas. The New England fans who are pouring into the stadium dodged 10 feet of snow coming here, as the New England winter rages on. The sports books for this game have been slammed, with reports of millions being put onto this game. One look into the crowd you can see people glued to their tablets, most likely getting in last minute wagers. So far the Raiders have been embraced by Las Vegas, but have yet to make it to the big game. Some rumors are flying that patriots players were seen in the pits betting their salaries in hopes of a bonus for winning the superbowl. The patriots have denied such allegations and Belicheck refused to comment when speared by the media earlier in the week. What will vegas have in store tonight? will raiders fans riot the field? will Brady win ring number 7? Only time will tell. If you squint and look real close, you can see Raiders owners high up in owners box, smoking cigars.
