The past few years there was a shuttle from Rio to Harrahs and Bally's. Fir some reason they discontinued this 6 weeks ago. Any ideas how to get over there without using taxi's/Uber?

You can walk, it takes about 20 minutes from Caesars.

Gold Coast (right across from Rio) has a shuttle that drops people at the Linq.

Yeah they stopped shuttle to Ballys because folks were parking free at Rio and shuttle to Ballys because Ballys has paid parking now and Caesars decided they didn't like that

The shuttle from Harrah's is discontinued too? It's been reported here about the Bally's shuttle, but first I've heard about Harrah's.

I took an Uber from the Rio to Paris the other day. $7.12

If you really wanna save, maybe you can just hang out by the Uber/Taxi stand, talk up a stranger, and hop in their taxi/uber if they're heading to the strip. You can always use the excuse of "I left my wallet upstairs" or "all I got is a $100, do you guys have change?" to get out of paying your share.

Also , and I don't know why you wouldn't just rent a car or take an uber . the 202 bus runs east/west on flamingo. Across the street from ballys sports book entrance.

Renting a car means paying to park it.

That seems silly. They don't want people to come in their casino and spend money because they parked somewhere else for free?

Agree with the 202 bus option. It's not too ghetto.

I walked it once in May, never again.

The bus to Rio from the side of Caesars (or beside Cromwell parking) is $2, if you're a nit like me, or just use an 24hr $8 pass if you need to also get up/down the Strip

Note it takes an eternity to cross Flamingo at the Rio to get to the Eastbound bus stop

I don't use to now that I live here but did CET really kill the shuttle? Or did they reduce it to just Rio to Harrah's instead of having two going to both Bally's and Harrah's?

If they killed it, it seems pretty in line with their policy of, "F' the customer, we just want your money."

It's possible that parking nits are kind of like rakeback nits and their business isn't worth the casinos' efforts.

Walked over half an hour outside when it was 113. Wasn't too bad. Trick is drinking a ton of water.

....and not stinking/sweating like a pig all over the guys sitting next to you at the tables after you get there ?

Seriously, walking from the Strip to the Rio in 113 degree heat is a "dumb tourist" thing to do.

Don't be a "dumb tourist".

Do it once, then never do it again.

I wouldn't bother too much, no love for walking in this forum. Apparently, lots of poker players think that even Bellagio -> Venetian is beyond walking distance.

FWIW, most people don't even sweat that much in dry heat, humidity plays a significant role in that. I am pretty sure I'd sweat less at 113 in Vegas than at 90 and 80% humidity in New Orleans.

Someone choosing to walk outside because sunshine brah is fine.

Someone choosing to walk outside to see the sights is fine.

Someone choosing to walk (outside or in) to have the freedom to stop whenever they see something cool is fine.

Someone choosing to walk because they feel like a fat ass sitting all day and eating food all night is fine.

I've done all five of the above, so absolutely no judgement.

But ... someone walking across urban blight in the midday desert sun just to avoid paying a few bucks in fares or fees is LOL. If you're a salaried worker with limited vacation time, you're wasting it. If you're a poker pro, you're giving up play time. If you spend 30 minutes walking to save $10, think of it as paying yourself $20/hour.

Sprinting full speed at 110% efficiency seems to work best for me.
