This question hinges on how spicy you prefer/can tolerate your food to be!

Just had lunch here. Tonkotsu shoyu ramen compares favorably to Monta imo. The broth was very good. I don't know which is better, would probably have to eat them side-by-side. The portions were slightly smaller than Monta's, as were the prices. I have to pay extra for my egg at Monta, and it comes with the ramen at Fukumimi.

The kimchi here was really terrible though. Have not had kimchi at Monta for comparison, but I'd find it hard to believe that it's any worse.

Also Fukumimi is right next to the Baskin Robbins in the strip mall on Eastern at Trop, you know, in case ramen then ice cream is your thing.

don't tell me you didn't get the chicken karaage. it's literally one of the top-5 fried chicken i've ever eaten in my life, and i've eaten a lot of fried chicken in my life, i tells ya.

Very good fried chicken. Reminds me an awful lot of Chinese salt and pepper squid, only this batter is hardly peppered if at all.

Tacos el Gordo seems to have disappeared from the Strip. Google and their web site say they're still there. Anybody know if they've moved somewhere near by?

Strip location closed. Landlord issues, apparently. Still open on E. Charleston, still amazing.

Loving this thread. I go through here once in a while, pick a few places, cross reference with Yelp, and everything has been delicious! One of the most useful non-poker threads on 2+2 for me

Updated to include the last two changes as well as two others

In: Carson Kitchen, Chada Thai, Al's Italian Beef, Rollin' Smoke, Don Tortaco
Out: Picasso, Archi's Thai, Peppermill, Chicago Hot Dog, Table 10

Casual

Aurelio's Pizza - The best Chicago thin crust available

Broadway Pizza - Good NY pizza place. Love their Chicken Parm

Don Tortaco - fresh, made from scratch to order, simple burritos that are really good and cheap

Crown & Anchor - Great bar food, awesome selection of beers on tap

Al's Italian Beef on Sahara/Rainbow - sometimes you want a legit Chicago dog or Italian beef. This is the place

Capriotti's - Love the Cheesesteaks. Carved turkey sandwich also great.

Monta Ramen - Sometimes you need a little soup

Chada Thai Restaurant - Sick value for dinner

Rollin' Smoke BBQ - Great food, fair price and sometimes you just want some great Q.

Midrange

Grape Street Cafe - I love this place. Great appetizer variety and entrees from traditional American red sauce Italian to decent quality seafood

Ichiza - Maybe the best value restaurant in the city. Amazing quality, super cheap

Carson Kitchen - Downtown dinner hot spot - great cocktails and more importantly great food. Essentially an American Tapas place with nothing over $18 on the menu

Kaizen Sushi - Great quality. I swear they get their tuna from the same source as the high-end strip sushi places.

Nicer

Bouchon - Versatile for both Breakfast/Brunch and Dinner

Delmonico - I've been going there for years - like family. Quality for both lunch and dinner

STK - Hip, fun and frequently rotated menu

L'Atelier - Versatile. Can have a great formal tasting menu or just a semi-casual night with a plate or two.

Raku - The Asian version of L'Atelier in terms of versatility. Arguably a top-10 restaurant in Vegas

Marche Bacchus - Wonderful patio dining and best wine shop in Vegas. Brunch, lunch and dinner

Jaleo - Overpriced but I really enjoy the vibe and their Iberico pork steak is amazing

If you think Al's is good, apparently you have never been to Windy City - http://www.yelp.com/biz/windy-city-b...dogs-las-vegas

Italian beef dipped with cheese and hot giardinera. Best sandwich in town. Their fries are great too.

Also Tacos el Compita > Don Tortaco

I don't have recommendations but am using this thread as a list for where to hit on my next US visit and had a question about a place I want to try but didn't seem to make anyone's list.

RM Seafood, worth it at all? I'm a huge fan of Rick Moonen as a person, and what I've seen of him on shows, a cook so I'd like to support him but not if the food isn't really that great.

Oyster Bar Palace Station - worth having to walk through the smoke and line up

Gyomon Sushi - AYCE sushi

Naked City Pizza - pizza, garlic rolls, chicken and salad

Otto - at Venetian, truffle pizza and a range of sides

Pizza Rock - another good pizza option

Wolfgang Puck - at MGM, affordable and high-quality

Carson Kitchen - good for lunch downtown

Echo & Rig - quality cuts

Cut - Palazzo, best steak I've had in town I think

Babystacks - favorite breakfast spot in a city with weak breakfast options

Sweet Raku - 3 course dessert, amazing presentation

Taqueria El Buen Pastor - best tacos in town

Juarez Border Food - great Mexican fast food freshly made

Overrated in my experience (but could have been what I had): Secret Pizza, Grimaldi's, Grand Lux, Egg and I, Tacos El Gordo, Blue Ribbon, Bacchanal, Milo’s, Delmonico’s, and Lotus of Siam.

Still trying to find great pho, Thai, Chinese, sandwiches, soups, Indian, and off-strip affordable steak places.

I can't even understand not liking LoS. My guess is either you had a one-off bad experience or need to order different things. I guess you could try Chada, but if you don't like Lotus, I think you probably are looking for like Thai Style Noodle House (which is ok, but it's run-of-the-mill utility Thai food, which is better than the ****ty utility Thai in a lot of the town).

He only said overrated. Given that it's "rated" about as highly as any restaurant on earth, I can see why he would have that thought. It did not exceed my expectations either, likely because my expectations were sky high given all the hype.

You are both right. I likely need to try the Northern dishes after watching that episode of Bourdain in Vegas, but it's been called the best in America, come on!

I'll try Chada. Thanks. I'm looking for fresh citrus and onion in my lark kai salad, fresh pad kee mao and tasty curry. Lotus tasted like Americanized pad thai to me, but it may have been me.
