last trip i brought envelopes of cash for each day that got progressively bigger, since money seems to lose it's value more the longer I stay in Vegas.
The pits chewed it all up. I would say plan your sessions as much as you can. Are you looking for $10 BJ/Craps? Or $25? What is your buyin for those sessions? Plan on all of it disappearing. How many times per day/trip do you plan on playing in the pits?
how many bullets will you fire at a poker game per day? HWat is your buyin there?
7 days isnt long, but ive used 8k before in that timeframe. one time i needed 14k for 3 weeks. it all depends how ur running and what ur going to be playing in terms of MTT
Getting into a foreign country and finding out your atm card doesn't work like you think it should isn't fun. So the often rolled out advice of "just take an atm card dude" is not always the best. But take a backup atm card anyway, Vegas isn't the place to be broke, but don't rely on it. Take 5-7k in cash and enjoy.
It depends on what your plan is and how much money you are willing to lose. No that has been said before, but what I haven't seen yet: the exchange rate back in the UK is worse then when you leave.
If you are planning to spend big, are OK with having mulitple 1000+ losing days in a row, then sure, bring around 1k a day. Keep in mind that it might be difficult to get more then $3-400 out of an ATM per day. My bank only lets me get around $350 a day. In my place, I would back down a bit after one or two big losing days, and will never ever spend 7k in a week while in Vegas.
If you are bringing 7k, because 'just in case' but the chance is likely that you will bring back around the same amount (if not winning/losing a lot), the bank will be happy since they will earn $100+ from your exchange... some agencies might guarantee a exchange-back rate but it will be limited (in NL that limit is around €500).
I'd take around 1000-1500 in cash and multiple debit cards / credit cards to get more cash if needed.. I know the rates are high but the rate your local bank will charge converting back to pounds, will be more...
Ok honestly if you need $7000 for 7 days just for poker at 1/2- 1/3 you are doing it wrong lol either that or you are on a down swing and should reevaluate going to vegas in the first place ;-) if your buying in for 300 thats almost 24 buy inns lost in 7 days if you run that bad you should prob quite 1/2 way thru that many buy inns
$7000 seems reasonable to me if you plan to play poker all seven days.. Play with a bankroll of $1000 per day; never dip into the previous day's winnings.
I've seen people come to Vegas on a 3-day trip with only $2000 in their wallet and going busto on the first night. **** happens when you're being served free alcohol.
I set up a U.S. Dollar account for trips to the states from the UK. No need to worry about fees or carrying too much cash.
My trips are normally two weeks with the other half. My gambol roll c$750 per day, separate life tool for food, drinks and entertainment - other half takes her own video poker roll
I've taken less than 1500$ for 2weeks out there before, just make sure you've got credit cards with you in case you run bad & sign up for rewards cards to get free meals. I'm a nit though, I'd say 2k or 2.5k is plenty for poker as long as you aren't lag & then whatever else you want for table games. Also, are resort fees for aria already paid for?
