Hotels with the best GYM
First of all, would like to thank everyone for all the useful info on "which games to play while getting drunk cheaply". I have high hopes that you guys will come through again.
Yes, I am one of those d-bags who hit the gym even while in Vegas. Maybe not hit the weights, but for sure at least get in some cardio.
I have only used the MGM gym before, which is basically some treadmills/bikes on the 4th floor overlooking the Tropicana parking lot. Not horrid, but nothing great.
I will be staying at the Trop this up-coming weekend, and will scope out the gym.
From your experience, what hotel has a great gym? Of course, the nicer the hotel, the more likely it has a better gym. However, are there hotels with gyms that are way above and beyond its price range?
Thanks,
S

tuscany is a cheap hotel with a pretty nice gym. Machines, free weights, etc.
Platinum has prolly the nicest hotel gym ive seen. Tends to be pricey.
both are a little off strip

Re: Hotels with the best GYM
Are all gyms at the MGM properties included as part of the resort fee?

IIRC, at MGM itself, they have a gym with weights and such that you have to pay for, but a smaller one with just bikes and treadmills and such that you can use for free.

Re: Hotels with the best GYM
Same goes for the Mirage. The "nicer" gym, behind the spa, has free weights, cables, etc is *not* covered by the daily resort fee. The cardio studio by the pool is free for hotel guests.

There's nothing to be ashamed of, I will always work out on vacation, at the very minimum get some cardio in.
That's absolute BS that the resort fee only overs a certain "GYM".

Re: Hotels with the best GYM
Yeah, the "cardio room" scam that MGM perpetrates is unforgivable, imo. Those cardio rooms are completely worthless.
Not surprisingly, the Wynn and Cosmo gyms are quite nice. Bellagio's and Aria's "real" gyms are good too.
But its all sorta the same in the gym: free weights, machines, treadmills with TV's. If you're paying for spa/gym acess anyway, you may want to base the choice on quality of spa facilities, which can vary more.

+1000. With these $22-25 daily resort fees being charged at various properties, they ought to include gym access with some actual free weights and machines. The MGM was the biggest offender of this for places I stayed at. At least when I stayed at Harrah's, they do not charge a resort fee so spending $20 for gym and sauna access didn't feel so wrong to me.

Props to you for working out on your trips to LV! Even if it is just cardio, it helps keep your energy up and your mind right.
The best value I found from the handful of places I have stayed in LV is the Palazzo, hands down! Their resort fee is $22/day but it includes the gym access, and their gym is awesome! I put a description and a pic in my recent trip report but basically it was bigger and better than the LA Fitness near my work back home!

Re: Hotels with the best GYM
You can get a weekly guest pass at the LVAC also (not sure of the current price, but they have everything), and can usually get some free guest passes from them instead if you claim that you're moving to LV and looking to join up.

Thanks!
Hmm... so apparently MGM has a REAL gym in addition to the garbage cardio room I have been going to? Will check w/ them this weekend.
I find that I always wake-up really early in LV for some reason... (ie 9AM) despite not sleeping until like 4 or 5 the night before. So it's good to get some cardio work done in the morning.... sometimes it helps me get back to sleep for a couple of hours.
Cheers,
S

Re: Hotels with the best GYM
So at Bellagio you have to pay the $25 resort fee and another $20 a day to use the gym? Really?

Tks.
the problem will be getting to/back from the gym.
Will not have a caaar......
F'ck it, I will just work out by doing prisoner push-ups. Find a fat guy from the mid-west to sit on my back while I do push-ups.....

Yep, a "real" gym if you want to call it that. It's not bad but not great. Costs $20 a day and you can find it way out by the exit to the hotel pools. On the left is the Signature towers and also the Spa. You have to walk down into the Spa in order to get to the gym. If you pay the $20, it includes access to their sauna/steam rooms in the spa. You can work a multi-day deal if you know you will use it, say, 3 days in a row. I put a pic of it in my most recent TR. It has dumbbells up to 80lbs, a Smith rack and some other stuff.
cheers,
SP

Ah yes, I see the pics.
Will probably look into that for week long trips.... probably won't pay the fee though for short weekend trips. (I know, funny how we nonchalantly shove $200 into the pot playing poker but complain about $20 fees)
