You can't go past the Riviera imo. Old school classy from top to bottom.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

Aria

Stayed there one Friday night. My original trip was scheduled for Monday-Thurs leave Friday, but my girlfriend suggested we stay another night and I decided that the Aria would be a great way to end the trip. We had the basic room.

This is an awesome hotel. Great service the entire time. Myself and my girlfriend were always addressed as Mr. or Mrs. by the staff and always asked if we needed anything else. I thought it was nice that when our bags were brought up, the bellman brought ice too. Nice touch, imo.

Bed was very comfortable. Shower was and tub were nice to use. And I really liked how you had a touchpad to control everything. It was a great room. The only negative side is the view wasn't great, nbd though.

Overall, I loved this hotel. Definitely will try and stay there again, and it is in a great location.

Does anyone know if the balcony fountain view rooms at the Cosmo come in two queen bed options?

Re: Hotel Review Thread

Planet Hollywood

2 weeknight stay - I typically stay at IP/Bally's but got PH offers for the first time ever

Booked a Hollywood Hip - $20 turned it into a Resort Vista Room (i think - i just asked for something with a TV in the bathroom)

Bathroom was absolutely enormous - two separate sink areas, awesome shower and huge tub + HDTV

the rest of the room was kinda cramped (no sofa/sitting area) so i guess it was technically a suite since the desk was in a separate entry way/area but it sure didn't feel like it outside of the bathroom which was ridiculous

HDTVs definitely need upgrading

otherwise - awesome location/atmosphere - really only had to leave PH for 2/5 and 5 dollar crapzzzz - great place for anybody in their mid 20's traveling solo to wind up

You will be very satisfied with your room at the P.

Assuming you are a normally-abled person, the walking distance is very reasonable to both V and Wynn poker rooms (10 min or less).

Use the pedestrian bridge immediately north of the P to access the Wynn, or the outside walkway to access the V poker room (effective 9/5, as of today the V temporary poker room is in the Palazzo). Ask any casino employee for directions.

If you are less than normally-abled you can rent a scooter from the bell desk for maybe $35/day.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

Go outside to get to the V poker room from Palazzo? I guess you can and it might be a wash distance-wise, but it seems unnecessary. Simple enough inside.

OP: the V poker room is under the same roof as Palazzo. The two hotels are connected. It's a 5 minute or less walk from the Palazzo room elevators.

Imperial Palace

jesus h. I didn't stay here but a friend did so I checked it out. it's really as bad as people say. if you're busto enough to stay here just save your time and dont come to vegas. plenty of other low cost options to consider.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

4 Weeks at the Tuscany

I stayed at the tuscany for several weeks recently while looking for a place to live in Vegas.

Price
I checked a bunch of random weeks/days etc, and even with the tuscany's $14 resort fee, it is usually just about in the same range as IP. Of the random weeks i checked, it was lower than Ip 2 weeks and higher than IP 2 weeks, and within 40 bucks a week in all cases.

I checked on my TR card, but I have almost no play on it, so I dont regularly get any sort of significant discount. The Tuscany does have a player loyalty card, but there is no opportunity to log in when you make a reservation. I have no idea if giving them significant action would result in lower rates (I dont gamble except for poker). If so, you would probably have to call the players club desk to try to get your rates adjusted.

Location
The Tuscany is an off-strip hotel, and is located at Flamingo and Koval, right across the street from the meridian.... Its about a 5 minute walk to the bottom entrance of ballys (and thus to the strip). I would say this is a mostly safe walk, although i did hear recently that there was a gunpoint robbery right in front of ballys (at the audrie st stop light). So basically, it is off strip, but its about the best off-strip location you could ask for.

Staff
Staff here is super friendly and accomodating. Staff attitude here is really what i would expect (and in vegas often not get) at a 5 star hotel.

Rooms

The rooms are studio suites, with microwaves and mini-fridges. They have 37" flat screen TVs and are bigger than typical hotel rooms as they have a seperate "sitting area" in addition to the bedroom. The furnishings are adequate but nothing special.

Common Areas
The pool area is nice, but kind of smallish. They have a decently equipped gym that is free, and also an onsite laundry room.

The casino is a pretty typical small, locals casino. There's a pretty convenient and relatively cheap 24 hour diner type place, and a sit down Mexican restaurant.

All-in-all. A great option for medium length stay. You're certainly not going to look around your room or the casino and think youre at the V or the W (or even the B). Then again, youre also not going to feel like youre in a place thats price-competitive with Imperial Palace and Circus Circus.

My only serious beef is that they charge like $15 a day per device for really bad (to the point of being practically unusable) internet. Seriously guys, if you're charging a resort fee you can hook your guests up with free wifi.

Can anybody tell me where the normal Delux rooms are located in the Bellagio?

Ie are they in the tower not connceted to the casino floor or somewhere really inconvenient

Im not disabled or anything, just had a friend who stayed there and talked about it being really annoying be so far from the casino, is it a real factor?

He was prob. in the spa tower. The spa tower is the one with a walk from the other side. It's far but able bodied people should be able to do it. Whether there are deluxe rooms in the other part of the hotel isn't something I know for sure but I would be shocked if there are not.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

The standard rooms in the main tower and the spa tower are essentially the same, and both towers have a variety of suite options as well. Personally I prefer to be in the main tower since it is more casino-accessible. One of my Vegas annoyances is having to go through that train station of a lobby at Bellagio, damn place is packed at all hours.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

Imperial Palace

Stayed here for 5 nights.

Pro
Great price.
Bathroom was clean and not outdated (typical plastic tub, granite counter)
Wallpaper in room looked updated. Nice neutral colors.
Comfortable bed.
Shuttle service - there are people working to ensure you get on a shuttle to the airport. As opposed to Bellagio where they actually told me that shuttles don't come and that I would have to call them directly.

Cons
Floors are disgustingly dirty. Don't believe they vacuumed one time while I stayed there. That includes pre check-in. It only takes 2 minutes to vacuum AMIRITE?!?!

Sheets are cheap/old. The sheets aren't very comfortable, and contain stains that surely go back years and years. They are somewhat rough and dirt/etc seems to stick to them moreso than normal sheets.

Sheets are not clean. Seriously? Do they have super cheap washing machines? Never have I stayed at a place with sheets so dirty. Not sure they wash the blankets at all but found all sorts of hairs, dirt, and dead bed-bugs stuck to the sheets.

Check-in line is long. FWIW, I saw a similiar line at the ARIA.

TV outdated (old style tube TV, but with HD broadcast meaning the edges of the picture are cut off)

Summation
If these rooms were clean this would be a tremendous value. The rooms are not out of date as I expected and are more than serviceable. However, for me it is completely unacceptable that a room is ever dirty. This would be the cheapest thing for them to correct and yet it is a major issue here. For this one reason, I will not stay here again.

Imperial Palace Deluxe Luv Tub "Suite" review:

Stayed 5 nights in Sept fully comped in Tower 1.

The room was large but the decor, furniture and appearance was unlike the pics on its website (not surprised).

There was a light stench that you get used to. Towels were crappy and appeared to have been used beyond acceptable shelf life as evident by the little white cotton particles getting stuck to my hair and wet skin. The TV in this room was a 32" lcd but was not in hd, thus I watched the entire Packers/49ers game with the score portion of the screen cut off and a ghost throwing passes.

Overall the room was old and dirty (esp the carpet) with a bedside alarm clock that may have literally been from the 1980's. The shower did not have hot water twice when the guest in the adjacent room happened to be using the shower too (bad beats when you think of the odds). The bathroom was standard with 2 sinks and below average flushing toilet. The luv tub was huge and left unused.

I kept the room at 66 degrees and slept well and did not notice bugs. The lines at the lobby were always ridiculously long. I luckily used the poorly organized diamond line but had an angry guest in line object to the clerk but he was properly put in his place when she informed him that I was in the vip priority line and he was a nobody.

Would not repeat even if again free.

Yeah, I have. 10 nights in a junior suite.

Signature is a much more classy hotel, but of course more expensive than MGM itself. Signature have no casino and it feels like you can escape from all Vegas lifestyle just by walking the 200 meters (?) from MGM to Signature.

You can use the pools at Signature which are small and quiet and a good place to have a breakfast by, if you want a calm start in the morning. You are allowed to use MGM pools which are great if you want more people around you and have drinks/beers by.

So, if you want a bit calmer, classy hotel where you are not surrounded by slot machines wherever you go, Signature is a choise for you. It takes 2 minutes to go to MGM so even if some poker players might whine that 2 minutes extra walk is too long I think it is definitely an ok distance to have to reach all Vegas lifestyle.

But, it all depends on what you want with your Vegas trip and whom you are travelling with. Another hotel might suit you better than MGM/Signature

The poker room has "temporarily" moved back to its normal location. (Was there 2 weeks ago)

HOWEVER, was told that the room would soon be back to the "temporary" location" until around the end of the year when the construction is all completed.

The direct line to the poker room is 702 891 7434.

I will be there in a week and will post an update on the situation.

Cheers,

S

For anyone that has stayed at IP recently, are the classic rooms and deluxe rooms equally as bad as people have reviewed or is one better than the other and if so which ones.
