I stayed at the Plaza for 2 nights each of the last 2 years during my WSOP trip (my buddy got Fri-Sat comped). NEVER AGAIN!!

2015 wasn't terrible, just not good, last year was beyond terrible, dirty rooms, AC barely working, poor service, and the casino sucks, the only good thing is the "Hash House a go-go". Can't help with the pool it was still under renovation last year.

I said after last year I would pay for Fri-Sat somewhere else, rather than stay there again.

Pro's of Linq are location, ability to visit the room during the day, and no moving hotels during the short stay.

Con's of Linq are price.

Pro's of SLS I think are the restaurants.
Con's of SLS is the location.

No idea about NYNY, but I have a super early flight on Monday morning so I won't be in the room much at all.

Thoughts?
I stayed at NYNY my first trip to vegas in 2014.. the memories! I stayed in a standard room and it was nice, nothing extraordinary.. Gallaghers steak house was awesome. great service & steak, price was decent. Irish pub has good food and the deli was great and super cheap. Obv have to ride the roller coaster. Walk from NYNY to B is taxing but in March it'll be lovely.

Thanks for the reply. I already booked a room for 4 nights in early June. Hope it's better than you describe. I will only be there to sleep a few hours and hangout by the pool. It was pretty cheap so pulled the trigger on it. Will try to update once I get back.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

I never much liked the idea of relying on in-room safes to stash my travel roll because they're so easy to defeat. But it's more secure than the zipper on my bag so on my last trip I used the safe. When I checked out this morning I was thisssss close to walking out the door and forgetting my money in the safe. I hadn't needed to raid my roll beyond the initial cash I took out. I think it'll be safer in my bag from now on.

Last time I was in Vegas I stashed my cash in the fridge rather than the safe. Worked for me.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

Everybody can grab their pitchforks, but I absolutely love the Palazzo. Far and away my favorite 5 star strip hotel. I get it, I don't like Alderson either, but this place is perfect in every sense of a resort. The rooms are as good as they get for the price in vegas. While its likely to be the most expensive, every room is basically a suite with the sunken living room. The marble bathroom is both beautiful, and comfortable. Every employee I have come in contact with has had the upmost level of professionalism.

Aria is a close second. The tablet in the room that controls everything is a cool touch. The least expensive "corner view" basically means strip view. Even if you are on the other side of the building, you get a view of the Palms and the area over there.

Not even close. It's nice for a casino, but there must be a dozen resorts right there in Phoenix that are better resorts.

IIRC correctly you're also from Phoenix...I can't think of much that I like around here as much as the Palazzo. Then again, I haven't stayed at the marquee resorts here.

That said, ***Favorite 5 star resort in Vegas.

Met a chick at the Palazzo craps table. Casino was nice. Went up to her room and banged it out raw. The room was really nice. Would recommend.

Palazzo has been my favorite too. Probably stayed there 5 or 6 times and prefer it to Venetian where I stayed 3 times. Never did Aria or Wynn so can't really compare to other top end places but will be staying at The Cosmo next month and looking forward to the balcony.

Is Linq worth 200 dollars more than ballys for a stay of 11 days?

If that $200 includes the difference (if any) in cost of resort fees, yes, absolutely. While the Linq isn't spectacular, it's clean, the beds are comfy, and is completely as advertised. It's the best "I'm just here for a room" strip hotel IMO.

If it's $200 more than Bally's Indigo tower then absolutely. If it's $200 more than Bally's Jubilee tower then maybe not.

Just checked out of Bally's Indigo tower (2nd year in a row there). The room was very clean and not really dated. The main issue is it is so far away from the strip, may as well be staying at Ellis Island. Three years ago I stayed at Flamingo and ended up over looking the Linq walkway area. I believe i had the last room in the hall way, that was like a half hour walk just to get to the door opening to the Linq walkway/shops/bars, it was crazy. But price was good also.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

Can anyone speak to the difference between the Cosmopolitan studio suite with the balcony & fountain view vs. the Aria corner suite? (I know, kind of specific). This would be for me and my gf. I will be playing poker at Aria for the most part, she will want to go to a spa among other things.. I've heard Aria's spa is very nice.

For the dates I'm looking at it would be about $100 more in total over 3 nights for the Aria suite. Aria is 920sq ft. versus the Cosmo 620sq ft. But the Cosmo has the kitchenette and the balcony. Any insight would be appreciated!

I haven't stayed at Cosmo, but I have stayed in Aria's corner suite. It was really nice and spread out if that makes sense. It has a powder bath at the front of the suite, and a living area with a couch and chair at the front. The back half is the bedroom and a large L shaped bathroom with a nice size stand up shower and a separate free standing tub. I got a free upgrade to the suite on a solo trip, and honestly it was a waste being alone. I didn't sit in the living area once, and the bathroom was actually my favorite part. I'm sure I would have used it more if my wife was with me.

Re: Hotel Review Thread

Went for comped slot tournament/3-night stay at the Palms this past weekend, and I had a double-queen in the Ivory Towers.

The room was fine - nothing really to rave about, but it was clean, and I had no problems with the room. The only nitpick I can think of is the ice machine on my floor wasn't working (which I called in and still wasn't fixed at the time I left), but the good thing is that my room was right next to the stairwell, which you can access and isn't fire-alarmed or anything so it was an easy jaunt down to the next floor for ice.

I will say though that if I had to pay the prices I was seeing on websites for that same weekend, I'd feel kinda cheated. Then again, it was March Madness opening weekend, so prices were likely much higher than normal.

I'll be staying there again at the end of June for another comped video poker weekend, so hopefully it'll be as good an experience!
