Does anyone have any experience staying there?Saw it advertised for around $500 a month.A lot cheaper than stating in a hotel right,is that a good area to be based?Going to be in Vegas for two months.

Very bad area!! The area in general and I would imagine the apartments too are infested with tranny hookers and run down junkies. But if that's your thing then by all means...........

A buddy stayed there for a month while on a temp job. The daily PoPo visits were interesting. Only one murder all month though.

Has this place/area gotten better? Spoke with a few people here about this place and many said its an okay place though the area isn't that good... though it isn't horrible. Also spoke to another person who currently lives there but he isn't from this forum and said unless you are a woman who are worried, this place is fine.

Thoughts?

Staying there at the moment. Don't know what the fuss is about, certainly feel safer than most areas in London. Although the 'everyone carrying gun' thing does freak me a little. Biggest danger is the traffic IMHO.

Although the staff at Holiday Royale are nice. I would NOT recommend staying there. The units smell like a combination of a dead hooker drenched in Brut Cologne. I also got a nice rash from the small 1975 era couch they had there...

If you have no self esteem, no sense of smell, and love bed bugs Holiday Royale could be for you!

wrong sir, you're biggest danger is getting robbed after a big night.Don't let your comfort fool you.I've walked in that area and noticed people noticing me if ya catch my drift.I grabbed a cab after hitting HR and i'm 6'2 300lbs and have a serious chip on my shoulder so maybe you're just a bad ass.Not to be a dick or anything but the English accent doesn't exactly instill fear.

For that trip I ended up in the Extended Stay America down the street from the Rio. It was cheap and although I have since read bad things about it at the time I always felt safe walking alone late at night. Not the cleanest place but did the job.

Suggest you do own research and take anything you hear on board with salt shaker but I'd check these out.

Budget Suites on Tropicana, Manor Suites on S Lvblvd is on Ace bus run don't need card, numerous Extended stays, Gold Coast get boyd players card use it then you'll get offers.

I am staying there as we speak. The one bedroom is nice and spacious. I saw a studio, it was small and not to nice, and smelled bad.

The area seems absolutely fine, seen worse in NYC, LA, Vegas itself and feel much more safe then in most areas of east London, where I live. All that scare about area being dodgy, ect, it utter nonsense. Strip is far worse imho.

Just make sure you check the room out before you get it. The one bed is really nice, but if I landed in the studio I would be majorly upset.

There's an older thread about the Holiday Royale here, FWIW. If I move to Vegas I may stay here just as an intemediary until I find a better spot.

I stayed at the Holiday Royale for two weeks this passed winter...Christmas and New Years...

I wouldn't say I felt comfortable walking to and from the Strip at night, but during the day it was no big deal at all. Everytime I was in a cab, I asked the cabbie's if the area was safe at night and they said it was but its a 5-6 dollar cab ride to PH from there so might as well cab it for peace of mind.

As far as the room goes, I didn't have any problems with it. I had the studio and really only used it for sleeping, other than that I was out and about. I actually never even saw my neighbors the entire two weeks I was there. I don't even think I saw anyone really.

On a side note, one night I walked back from the Strip and didn't walk down Harmon...instead I was over near Ellis Island somewhere and that was a much much worse area. I think as long as you stay on Harmon you should be ok, but like I said, the cab is so cheap you might as well just do that.

Oh and FWIW they have a couple cheap, fast, pretty darn good restaurants pretty much right across the street.

How is the parking there? How safe is it to park a car there? Do they have covered parking?

No covered parking.

With regards to safety, it's gated but take that for what you will. Several times when I came back there was just a car waiting to follow you in after using your keycard thing. Nevertheless, I never had a problem with parking there... and I stayed there for the first 5 months I was in Vegas.
