Getting from strip to RIo? Getting from strip to RIo?

Just walked from the airport to the Strip.

2.28 miles, 32:45min according to my Garmin. Left McCarran through the departure area, turned left, saw Stratosphere and Wynncore in the back and started to walk. Turned right at the long term parking area and immediately left for the sidewalk next to Paradise. From there I just turned left on Tropicana and walked until I hit the corner of the Strip. Only one traffic light all way, at Tropicana and Koval where I had to wait for around 2 minutes.

To get to center strip, it's probably faster to stay on Paradise til Harmon.

Last year I walked from the airport to Hooters Casino. I think it took me 40 minutes. Took me a little longer than expected, but wasn't really that bad a walk, at nighttime in May. Wouldn't want to do it in sunlight hours, or even at night mid-Summer.

McCarran to Planet Hollywood, 2.8 miles in 42 minutes. 4PM, ~100F, surprisingly many people walking from/to the Strip on Harmon.

Every time I'm in Vegas I'm surprised at the amount of people walking on Harmon. I guess I should stop being surprised. It's super common.

This is a stupid question, but how do you physically walk to Harmon from inside the airport? I tried once and got super confused and kept hitting fences. Ended up taking the shuttle to the car rental place and then walking north up Las Vegas blvd.

***edit: nvm, read above "through the departure area."

To be precise: Leave Terminal 1 of the airport through an exit next to the Spirit check-in counters. As soon as construction north of that area is finished, you can walk an additional couple hundred feet indoors.

I was a little worried about finding the way when I did it for the first time, but if you exit the airport at the right spot, everything is self-explanatory.

Last night I was also curious how fast I could move on the Strip on a Friday night. It took me 25 minutes from Venetian to MGM, roughly 1.5 miles including bridges and drunken tourists at 11PM.

Another option is to go down the escalators near baggage claim at Terminal 1 to Zero Level. Walk out and take the free shuttle bus to the remote parking lot. This will put you near the corner of Paradise and Tropicana. Walk up Paradise to Harmon past Hard Rock to LV Blvd, or straight up Trop to MGM etc.

How much walking does this save you? I don't know where the "remote parking lot" is.

Remote parking is near the corner of Paradise and Trop. Saves just 1/2 to 3/4 mile probably, but I'm not sure if there are sidewalks if you walk straight from the terminal, so this would avoid that issue.

From the airport to the corner of Trop/Paradise is around one mile. Depending on where the shuttle drops people off, you could probably save 1/2 mile or maybe even a little more.

There are sidewalks all the way and most are either pretty wide or aren't right next to traffic.
