You can go and do that anytime but 4 AM is when the clubs start to close and all the skanks are parading through the casino.

i gotta say i disagree Mr. Man...well from my experiences at least...all the times I've gone to play with my 20/40 dollar budget would not had been nearly as long as they were had i been betting the extra $1...BUT there were a couple times where I wasn't betting it and hitting boats and other bonus hands where it prolly would've made more money (those individual sessions) had i been betting it...

with that said, thats from a locals "trying to get ****faced obliterated on $40 on a tired friday night" perspective...and yea, id uber tilt if i'd hit the 7 card straight flush that would've qualified for the progressive but did not get it since no extra $1 bet was out there...and now that i think of it, if i was a tourist/here on a short vacation I would likely bet that extra dollar since you are here to get lucky as opposed to me who was just trying to get toasty on a budget!

well yeah, if your budget is $40 and you are local that changes things.

The pass line bet is the basic bet in craps, you must make this bet if you want to shoot the dice.

On a $5 table you must bet at least $5. at the start of a new game a player will throw the dice-if he gets a 7 or 11, pass line wins and pays even money.he would then roll again.

if he gets a crap # which are 2,3,or 12 pass line bet loses.

if he gets a 4,5,6,8,9,or 10 that becomes a point-he then rolls again until either the point is rolled and pass line gets paid, or he gets a 7 and pass line bets lose.

for a newbie, the machines are a good warm up intro to the game

Re: Games good for losing $ slowly while I drink

MGM now has a computerised greyhound game we stumbled onto a couple of weeks ago which was accross from the poker room (I think...I wasn't very sober most of that trip). It's lame if you actually want to gamble but it can be pretty decent fun if there are a few of you. We weren't betting a lot but had props on having to drink/skull if you lose, side bets on multi's etc. Gave decent tips and had no problems getting drinks.

FYI...wait to call the winner once they have raced the first 200, it's always the dog coming second last...little sob always seems to come home in front. True story.

**** computerized table games. the whole thing that makes it fun is human interaction. like, yeah i get that im probably going to lose, but its fun to get drunk and yell and talk with my friends and the dealer.

The marginal utility of losing the extra $1 each time vs the marginal utility of the win.... pretty easy decision.

Will play the bonus.... =]

Thanks!

This I do agree. Somehow I think I would like the Greyhound game more if there was like mechanical dogs running around? Hmmm...

Sounds like 2003 when I ran my fake money account on pokerroom.com from $1,000 fake money to $100,000 of fake money.....

Re: Games good for losing $ slowly while I drink

Craps or electronic craps with a full table is a good choice for a social experience. Just min bet the pass line and you will never lose that much. Sigma Derby like you pointed out may be one of the slowest loss rates available with a 25c bet.

Being an anti-social bastard, I usually stuck with VP at the bar. Some strip casinos don't care how many credits you play per hand as long as you put in $20, so you can wager 25c a time at a relatively slow rate, and tip obv. Once exception to this is Aria, where they wanted 75c/hand minimum. I have also heard Wynn doesn't comp at the bar. I usually was at Venetian sportbook or Gustav's Bar @ Paris last trip because they both offered Sierra Nevada. I laughed internally when I saw numerous people at Paris buy the same ~20 oz draughts for $7/each.

horse racing: memorize this phrase: "(selected racetrack) (selected race) (selected three separate horse numbers) $2 exacta box"

it's a $12 bet. ask for a drink ticket if they don't give you one. cash in your betting tickets when you win. make 10 bets and you will win back at least half of it most of the time. it requires no effort on your part other than picking the three favorites and fading long shots. you're not gonna hit a big score but you will get hammered. and you can make lots of prop bets amongst your group while you do it. it was always a good way to kill an afternoon with the rich guys and the bustos alike.

if you do it at caesars it's a great book and you can just walk up to the bar and pay with your ticket. also watch sports on huge screens while you're there.

addendum... i would always see the same teller at the book and tip when i won. after my first win i started getting 2 tickets per bet.

A friend of mine used to talk about his Vegas routine which I always thought was kind of genius in a weird sort of way:

Roulette, always bet the minimum on red, split action with a friend that always bets the minimum on black. Reload when green hits, always keep track of who's "winning" for some sort of non-monetary side action. Zero chance of actually winning money but you should be able to stay ahead on drink equity.

This is pretty ingeniuos actually. You do it with 3 guys too & bet rows or columns. The cuts your 0/00 leakage down by almost 20%. I wonder if you're better playing lower limits on the electronic roulette or better off playing the slower manual wheels.

I'm exactly the same way. I scored about 8-10 Maker's on the rocks and a $250 profit on VP on a fun solo Sunday night at the Plaza last month. Drunk winning is the best.

Based on what OP has said, craps has to be the go to. My wife likes the excitement of craps without the variance, so she'll sit next to me and be happy throwing down a pass line, and only a pass line. If $5 is more than you want to risk, go to Casino Royale, which often has $3 craps, or if you're downtown, to Golden Gate, which occasionally has $1 games.

Playing craps at Casino Royale is actually my favorite drunk Vegas activity. Since it's cheap you get a lot of the young, poor players, who are usually the most boisterous as well. It's not as good since they've stopped given out vodka redbulls for free to players, but still a pretty good flow of waitresses, and if they're too slow you can always just buy the dollar Michelob. They've also got electronic Three Card, which is a blessing and a curse.
