Even though I have been to LV many many many many times, I have pretty much stuck to $2-5 poker for my gambling related activities. I have only played roulette once in my life, craps once and black jack once.... and no other table games... EVER.

However, on the next trip, will be bringing a couple friends who don't really play poker and they will probably want to splash some money around.... (Yes, I am referring to -EV games)

so, what are some games where my friends and I can drink, have a good time, and not lose our $ too quickly? This is also a chance for me to actually experience some of the other games the casino has to offer.

I can only think of one right now: The Mechanical Horse Game @ MGM

I am sure there are others.... please help suggest some!

Lastly, no need to suggest shows/restaurants/clubs. I am fairly well versed in those..and the rest I can find on my own via the search function. (Not being lazy FTW!)

You can bet only a few bucks and they bring drinks frequently, you won't get rich but you will get drunk....

I had a buddy that didnt gamble but loved to get drunk. He would put a 20 in a video poker machine and hit a button every time the waitress came around and ordered a drink

you can do that...if you're cool with a bartender (maybe let him know you'll be tipping well) you can feed a $20/$100 (depending what $ amount is required to get drinks free) into a machine and just drink it up and play a hand every couple minutes...ive only done this at the off strip/locals casinos but figure it'd work most places considering you give a $2-3 tip as opposed to paying $7/corona or more for mixed drinks, and it would be beneficial to both involved parties...

but that might be a little lame on vacation...all the slowly lose your money games aren't the most fun or social imo...BUT pai gow is a drinking mans game if you don't play the bonus, I used to go to a stations casino every friday after work for a few hours and play pai gow on $20/40 budget(tips included in that budget) and get pretty toasty on the cheaps! Yea you can lose playing pai gow like mentioned in the PG thread but its hard to imo, you have to be having real bad luck that day! the horse racing Sigma Derby always looked like fun to tho!

With all that said...CRAPS! DO NOT PASS LINE! sit back, drink and hope for cold rollers!lol...but you'll be "that guy" betting do not pass!lol

Sorry, should have been more clear..... looking for something hopefully more exciting than video poker.... ie) again, think MGM Mechanical Horse Racing game.... lots of excitement and cheering...all while betting quarters....

They have these craps games that are mechanical. I have seen one at the Flamingo. It is similar to the MGM horse racing thing where you sit around in a circle and play. It looks fun for a group of people. I am not sure what the denominations are but I am thinking it would be small stakes.

its basically dollar craps tho, without having to worry about betting the right amount to get paid correctly with odds (e.g. $6 on 6 & 8) because it pays change also not just even dollar amounts...

Ive only played it 4-5 times when I went to sunset station to eat the buffet and did pretty good...but imo, its not anywhere near as fun as real craps because theres about 6 seats per machine I think and its kinda like everyone has their zone and isn't as easy to talk to everyone since a big glass cup like thing sits in the middle...its easy to socialize with each person to your left and right but not so much the others, at least in my experience with it...

You never have to play a hand. Just find the table with the really old chinese guy with his sheet who barely plays and mimic him.

these are all over Vegas-a few have double seats so couples and sit and play together-they are fun and as long as waitress service is ok, this might be the way to go.

most of the time the min is $3 on pass, with 2X odds. the only thing i don't like is that you only have 20 seconds to place bets

They recently added a Sigma Derby game on the 2nd floor of the D downtown (used to be Fitzgeralds) if you head downtown.

Pai Gow is good to burn time and drink. The limits might be a little high (15-25), but a lot of your hands will push, so it doesn't matter how much you are betting.
