Re: Front license plate bracket damaged on my car, convinced it was valet

id say look at your ticket. i have used folks that did have a time limit. also one of the only chances you may have is to have them look at the tapes from the time they had it. so many cameras around that it may or may not show something.

Re: Front license plate bracket damaged on my car, convinced it was valet

Valets are the worst I tell people dont do it they bottom out your car on the regular. Esp. the sports cars. I know someone that valeted his car and they messed up his bumper he noticed before left. They fixed the damaged after convincing, but never admitted to damaging the car. This was in Table Mountain casino in Friant. DO NOT VALET YOUR CAR moral of this story....

Re: Front license plate bracket damaged on my car, convinced it was valet

You could go to small claim's court...(think Judge Judy)......You probably lose though (if you tell the truth) since by your account, someone gorging themselves on an In and Out burger could have just as easily crashed into you....so that is a waste of time..//

Valet parkers are the worst, I once tipped a valet 20 to leave my car up front at a strip club.....she could not figure out where reverse was(or so she claimed to back it in) so she drove it around the building and went head on with another car...

True story from 1986 when I was a valet in Atlantic City. A guy parks his car and comes back for it less than an hour later. He gets in his car and immediately gets out and demands to talk to a supervisor. The supervisor comes out and the patron starts freaking out that he had left 3 joints in his ashtray and that we stole them. The supervisor explained that there was nothing he could do about it. The patron then started yelling that if he didn't get his weed back he would call the police on us. The supervisor said "Do you really want to call the police and tell them that someone stole your marijuana?"

All the valets were standing there laughing like crazy. The fact that we were all stoned on his weed made us laugh even harder.
And this is why life will never be boring if you are not a nit. Well Played. Great story

Re: Front license plate bracket damaged on my car, convinced it was valet

From working with over 40 Valet departments I can give you a few pointers,

- If you are a 7 star, Noir or High Grazie member, anything under $2k damage incurred from the valet will be comped without any complaints
- If you dont have any play at the casino, there is 0 chance of you getting anything fixed/repaired on the propertys dime, once you get into your vechicle and leave the property
- If you pay the valet $10, the car will come back spotless, for $10 its worth it for the following:
- You get your car within 3 minutes
- Your car is in walking distance if the valet is backed up
- Some places will wash your car for free if it is moved to the director level parking

Some interesting stories:

- I was working with a department in Pennsylvania, and they had a high roller and his son playing MB in High limit, they proceed to get wasted and the son takes his fathers M5 out to get some women/strippers. Absolutely wrecks the car, and brings it back to valet in bad shape. Valet documents all of the damage and parks the car, Father comes out and son blames Valet. Valet talks to the host, and a accept all damage! (500k credit line)

- In Chicago, a guy drives up an absolute beater, and asks for valet to put his car up front as he has important business meetings to attend, valet look at the car and moves it to the far end of the lot, as the front is setup for nice sports cars etc
Low and behold the dude comes out and asks for his car, it takes the valet 15 minutes as they document all damage and he didn't tip, the dude is pissed, drives off and then returns in the company limo in a suit and fires the 3 employees on the lot. Turns out his company limo broke down, and to make the meeting he borrowed an old car from a guy at a local bar!

My favorite one!
- At the newly renovated Tropicana, my mates girl valets her car and proceeds to get wasted at Nikki Beach, comes back and asks for her car back. Valet tell her she is incapable to drive and to return in the morning! Obviously she is pissed, and goes inside eats some food and comes back, this time asking for her car. Valet then proceed to try and find her keys to no avail, 2 hours later they have no keys, and proceed to apologize and let her have the company limo as a ride home until the car keys are found. She then proceeds to drink/take all of the alcohol in the limo as resolution, the driver visibly upset and not getting a tip, lets this occur. The next morning she wakes up, calls for her car and is given the same response that her keys are not available, so she is now given free use of a company limo for the weekend, which in turn means a free driver! Man was that a fun weekend, we tipped the driver a ton, who then proceeded to re-stock the alcohol on every trip, picking up our party group from bar to bar

Your problem was you didn't talk to your attorney, Jackie Chiles:

The Balm

Your 'balm' was leaving the valet without checking. I actually believe your story might be the truth (and know you believe it was the valet)....

And I laugh that someone gets worked up by a license plate bracket that they WANT TO SUE, SUE, SUE!!!!!!!!!!!!! USA#1. Any euro reading this is seriously doubled over laughing.

OP, I hope you never live in a major metro area (Chicago, NY) and ever pull your car out of the garage. Jackie Chiles will have to be on permanent retainer and live in your home.

Any American reading your post is seriously laughing at you. OP never said he wanted to sue he said he wanted to file a claim with them. These two things are very different.

It's ok maybe your English not so good yes?

Re: Front license plate bracket damaged on my car, convinced it was valet

I used the Seinfeld parody to try and make my point - anything bad that happens to you doesn't have to be someone else's fault or something someone else will pay for.

Civil liability here in the US gets pretty silly and we're all conditioned to expect something when junk happens to us.

I stated that I fully believe OP's story and that it likely happened as he/she thought. I was responding to the thread flow....and it so happens that I've had a long week and the concept of going to the DMV because your license plate is dinged/damaged caught me wrong.

And to iReza, filing a claim and suing are not very different...actually in the same family and very close siblings.
