Front license plate bracket damaged on my car, convinced it was valet

Last Friday I went to play poker at the Venetian and had my car valeted. I didn't drive it Saturday. Tonight I go to In-N-Out and when I came out I saw the front plate bracket was smashed. I'm almost certain it was the valet's fault. I got my car detailed last Monday and didn't drive it all week because of the rain. Friday was the first time I drove it since it I got it detailed.

Anyways, would it be too late to call and file a claim? The damage to the bumper was not significant...a scratch deep enough to take out the paint. However, I do have to buy another plate holder and get the scratch fixed obviously.

Thats sucks. If you get a new one will it say anything? Did the broken one say anything.

It was a Gaudin Ford bracket. The plate is actually busted up too so that will involve me going to the DMV to apply for a new one.

Well it can't hurt to talk to the V about it. If the story sounds real, as it does here, and you present it well they might do something for you.

Re: Front license plate bracket damaged on my car, convinced it was valet

I'm going back 26 years on this, but while I was in college I worked as a valet driver at the Sands in Atlantic City. Once you left, any damage was on you.

Look at it from their perspective. A guy comes in with damage to his car who says he used their valet over a week ago is now claiming that they damaged his car and he wants them to pay for it. They won't give you anything. They have no way of knowing what happened to your car over the last week. You can't even say with 100% certainty that somebody didn't back into your car at the In-N-Out.

Always walk around your car to check it out before leaving the valet.

This incident happened just a couple days ago. I can say with 100% certainty that it didn't happen at In-N-Out tonight. It would have been impossible actually, since my front plate was on a curb.

You said "last Friday" which gave me the impression that it was over a week ago.

Either way though, let's say you go to them tomorrow (Monday). How are they supposed to have any idea what has happened to your car in the 72 hours since you left them? Why should they accept any responsibility at all with that much time in between? If they pay you anything they are setting the precedent that they are responsible for anything that happens to any car that they park for 72 hours after that car leaves.

You won't get anything.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, and I'm not trying to say you are trying to scam them. I'm just being a realist.

You can ask, but I seriously doubt they will do anything. As it has been posted above once you leave the lot they (Venetian) doesn't know if they damaged it or you damaged it in between the time you left the lot and the time you brought it back. And taking into account how many people do try to scam them they don't do anything after any amount of time passes (unless you are a celebrity or VIP).

If you talk to them and they do give you something, let us know. My truck has a big dent in the side that happened six months ago when an uninsured driver backed into me. I'd like to get it fixed on the Venetian's dime. LOLOLOL!

I'll tell you bluntly. No. They'll tell you too bad, not their problem.

Once your car leaves their property, they're not responsible and you cannot prove that it happened while your car was in their possession.

Sorry people aren't telling you what you want to hear.
