And don't forget to get a MLife card. $1 an hour, that's at least a free meal.

Also, try to sell some of you **** on eBay.

Lastly, bring your own water etc.

Cheers,

S

Re: Following my dream AGAIN! Moving to Vegas in July

With your roll, i would just buy $100 at a time. If you buyin $150-200 everytime, few bad sessions, you won't even last a week there. You are gonna wind up needing to invest in a pair of knee pads and a dark corner to call your office.

It was suggested few times in this thread that I buyin for 150, and some suggested 60$ (which is the minimum at some), or 100$.. so tell me what u guys think and why.. Thanks
I like the 100-150 range. the prob with $60 is you're playing true short stack and you can only play a few hands you get blinded off and when you get a hand you don't win much and you're not winning much at 1/2 anyhow.

My take on playing deep if you've done it before and it's worked, ie you don't donk it off at the end, BE honest now fine otherwise take a profit and restart this lowers your variance which is good when you're short

If you run anything like me playing deep can be bad for your roll. Just a few minutes ago I am sitting on 400 and in for 200. I lose a 3 outer for stacks after we get it all in on the flop. Say I had a 2k roll I just went from potentially 2600 to 1800. You might not have enough to survive the swings. I would look for a job as a safety net. Fortunately I have more money and a job but the downswings wow. Good luck and run good. I would avoid playing deep and be very conservative with your brm.

This gives you a little cushion and you're not playing entirely short stacked every time you sit in a new game. As you win or lose your $1,500 adjust your buyin accordingly giving you 10 buyins until you have a nice stretch of wins. For example, if you win $500 and roll gets to 2k, buy in next time for 200, etc. Best of luck to you and stick to the 1/2 at MGM early as they have the best round the clock games and table selection at that level.
I like this way of managing things ALOOT!!

>> I would avoid playing deep even though am very comfortable playing deep, I know swings can be bad (but tbh, from my own experience.. poker players blame luck way too much, usually its bad play -- I always blamed luck, even though 80% of the times I played my hands bad)..
Anyways, I will play with 100-150$ a buyin depending on how deep the table is playing.. I will cashout once i get to 400-600$ (depending on how aggressive the table is) and go to another casino and buyin for 100-150$ again and so on

Re: Following my dream AGAIN! Moving to Vegas in July

It was my friend's idea to chill for 5 days before my trip to vegas.. I won't be spending from vegas money at all, I will be travelling with them in a car and they got comped room. They know i am short on money and keeping the spending part to minimum.. so NO, I wont go broke in AC.. hopefully I won't look back again

If I were you, I would go to a Caesars property in AC and get a Total Rewards card and get a little play on the card, then get online and check to see if you can any comped nights in Vegas. I the last 3 yrs, I have paid for maybe 2-3 nts worth, and the rest of my stay was completely comped, and I have spent about 7 weeks combined. I have been comped at PH, Flamingo, and IP. But also rooms at Bally's and Rio are comped alot as well.

+1

I have 60K to my name and I know that I don't have enough to quit my job. I have no choice but to put in another 12 months of hard work. I'll have 100K at that point and will be thinking to myself...just a little more.

I want 100K + 5-6 months expenses + flights = 115K

Going to Vegas "to make it" with 2K is just foolishness. A month of breakeven poker and he'll find himself out $500 in food and life expenses (and this is living really frugally + free rent + no cell bills). One month of losing poker, say a mere $500, and he's got $1000 left. Really tough to play good poker with your last remaining dollars.

Good luck Mack, there will always be people who will criticize you, but in your first post you wrote that if it doesn't work out you have a translating job waiting for you, so it seems you do have a backup plan.

Play good, run even better and I hope you make it out there.
