Why is that so strange? My GF doenst wanna hang out at the pool for 8h a day and doesnt like gambling or poker at all.
So when i would take her with me to Vegas she would be bored to death except for a day or two spent on shopping and other trips like the grand canyon.

I think my loved one is very understanding because she doesn´t complain although I visit Vegas for two weeks once a year. She playes poker herself, but we both know that its better that I play my 10-20h sessions in solo trips (or trips with my friends).

You wouldn't take your girlfriend on a business trip unless you knew she'd have things to do together and you wanted to spend time with her. If you bring a loved one on a poker trip you have to be exactly the same about it.

I guess it's strange to me because I don't have their experience of having a non-understanding loved one.

Well your lucky surely you can see that most people in your life won't support you until you've made 100k+

and are your "understanding loved ones" mindless unemployed drones or something who don't have anything better to do so they either rail you for hours on end or wait like a house wife in your hotel room or at the pool sunbathing?

Most people in my life don't judge people based on the money they've made or how much they're worth.

The loved one under discussion, my fiancee, is fine with not being joined at my hip and doing her own thing as I'm fine with her doing her own thing.

Solo in Vegas is the nuts. As everyone has been saying, the freedom to play as much pokerz as you want is awesome.

If you ever get lonely and can't find a person/group to hang out with then you have issues. Between the table games/bars/slots/massage parlors there are many good places to have interactions with people.

I go to Vegas every year on my own. I can't think of a better place where being on your own can be so much damn fun :-)

Maybe the solution is to divorce your wifey, that and become a deadbeat dad. Then acquire currency playing pokaz and get new friends. Just a suggestion.

I never see shows alone. It's a couples or group thingy. Where do you shoot guns? The PPV porn gets damn expensize once you start racking it up. The all day 24 hour pass for like $36 is the best value but you'll have to be waxing your dolphin all day long to make the value. I learned to order movie by movie and rather pick up some average slut to my room and bypass the whole PPV porno in the room thing. Your time is better spent loving the singles life or cheating on the wifey/gf.

Those of you with wives/girlfriends who don't gamble need to learn how to pull off the perfect trip to keep her happy and get your gamble on.

Explain to her that you want to have the best of both worlds, and that you want to spend time with her, but you also want to have your marathon poker sessions and not leave her alone, bored and pissed. Then tell her that you have a solution... The two of you will fly to Vegas. You will spend 3 or 4 days being the perfect bf/husband, you'll wine her, dine her, take her to shows... whatever she wants. Then you will put her on a plane and send her ass home (don't word it like that to her) while you stay in Vegas solo for another 3 or 4 days.

I suggest doing it this way instead of you going there for a few days and then her meeting you there because you don't want to be done playing but facing a few days in Vegas. It's too depressing. If you go out together, you have the free time to look forward to so the couple of days of being the "good guy" is easier to get through.

Believe it or not, she'll think you're very thoughtful and appreciate the effort .

I second this, I did a variation on this the last two years for the WSOP. I spent two weeks in Vegas, wife came down for the middle weekend each time to do fun non-gambling stuff - Cali, Grand Canyon, Garth Brooks, etc. It breaks up the trip really nicely.

Haha.. I hate it when people say "be careful going there or there it's bad neighborhood" or something like that.. Because when I go there then I'm all scared and paranoid lol... but it turns out it's always totally chill

I havent been to vegas but it's what I'm planning on doing sometime this year hopefully.. but about having fun solo... I found that at any tourist areas in any country its always easy to meet new people to hang out and have a good time with... especially if you go to a hostel or share an apartment with others.

But if it's not tourist area then I think it's suddenly really hard to meet new people.

Going solo is pretty enjoyable. The only thing that sucks is eating meals alone.

This. The nicest meal of my solo trip was on my last day when a woman who I befriended at the plo table earlier in the trip asked if she could sit with me when she saw me eating breakfast at the V.

+1. I did the same recently. Got Three days(Two before she got there and 1 after she left) by myself and 4 days with the missus. Still got to play a lot of poker while she was there. Trick is to show her a nice time with expensive dinners and shows and you can get a pass for everything else.

I just got my GF some jewelry, such a +EV move. Costs less than her plane ticket would of and she will most likely return the favor in some way, probably one that will save you on hooker costs too.

I never really had a problem eating alone in Vegas, and I consider myself kind of a shy person. I did eat a lot of fast food/food court type stuff in between sessions, but I also did a few sit down meals and even some fine dining. I got no reaction whatsoever asking for a table for 1 anywhere and never felt uncomfortable eating alone. It's just another one of those things that makes Vegas unlike anywhere else, this stuff happens thousands of times a day there. No one is going to think twice about someone eating alone. Sure it might get boring, but that's why they serve drinks.

^^^

And I've said it in other threads, but just about every nice restaurant serves a full menu at the bar if you don't want to sit at a table. I always like having a bartender and other bar patrons to talk to.
