If you're there for 95% poker, then there is nothing wrong with "going solo" in terms of staying in the same room with someone. You can socialize enough at the tables and other places, and you probably would have friends in town for poker as well. If you're playing poker to make money, then who plays at their friends table unless it were a MTT

i'm down for a 'working holiday' 18th june til 9th july, looking to get an apartment for the majority of that time, anyone have any advice for a solo apartment that's close to the centre of the strip, < $200/week?

Tried to talk the wife into her and my daughter vacationing to Florida and me in Vegas but didnt fly. Would love a solo trip. Never get to play as much poker as I want because the wife ends up getting annoyed. Five hours tops. Tried getting friends to go with and she could hang with them but we have broke ass friends.

I love solo in Vegas. The only danger is to not play too much poker. (So the opposite of when i go with the wife!) Try not to play more than 8 hours a day and do some other fun stuff and you'll have a blast. Would advise going to gym in the mornings and always making time to have a nice meal. Its too easy to just eat at the poker tables or in the deli.

Personally no, However I'm sure you would want to stick with the Chinese Japanese or w/e they are ones.

Do not let a cab take you to one, I know that for sure.

Spring mountain probably a good street to find a couple.

This is crazy talk.

I've been to Vegas about 30 times, about half of them solo. I prefer solo for the reasons mentioned already. You can come and go as you want, get up when you want, go to bed when you want, play poker for as long as you want.

If you go with a girlfriend or wife, you can forget about the marathon poker sessions. Why, because you've got to meet them for dinner, a show, a trip to the mall, etc. When they want to go to bed at 11pm, you have to go back to the room with them because they can't go alone.

No thank you. Once in awhile is OK, but for the most part, I'll take the solo trips.

P.S. This post made me think of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suAhGfVr_4U

I'm going solo as well...for many of the same reasons you guys mentioned. Most of my friends are not going to want to play poker while there. I went last year a couple days solo b4 my friends bachelor and had a great time. Going June 7 to June 18 this year. So give me a shout if anybody wants to meet up and shoot the ****.

Kinda want to know the cheapest place near aria or the wynn for a safe deposit box. Also if anybody wants to share a hotel room to save on cost around that time let me know

No such thing as too much poker in vegas solo...Its the only time you can pull 40 hour sesh's without the wife getting mad. You can always eat at the poker table... and get a massage at the table with your comps.

Stay on the strip and out of secluded spots and you'll be fine. And if you hear the words, hi sweetie etc respond at your own peril lol

solicitation is rampant in vegas... I don't even pay attention and indeed cast a disgusted gaze when it does happen.

I didn't have a much fun as I should have when I went solo. I think I had too much going on back home for me to truly be comfortable. When I wasn't playing, I felt terribly restless. So, lesson learned?

Going solo is a great time! You can do everything on your own schedule, play and venture around as you like, and don't feel tied to anyone else's wants or needs.

Hope you enjoy yourself.

You just need to find an understanding, fellow poker player of the opposite gender as you get the best of both worlds.

I'm single and most of my freinds are broke poker players, so I will be there solo from June 23 to bust or ME Champ.

While I can play more than 8 hours/day, I agree with the sentiment for sure. I need to have other stuff going on apart from poker to keep my head straight.

fwiw, i visited vegas alone 4-5 wsop's ago to play an event and it was freaking miserable. My biggest mistake was staying downtown, when i was staying alone. I was also a semi-noob when it came to vegas (ldo?) so I didn't really think about downtown being dead as **** and not being able to find anybody to have sex at or talk to.

anyway, this thread is obv turning into "who's coming to vegas alone and wants to meet up" thread. Last time we all went in this direction, a guy had a couple "unofficial 2p2 parties" in his comp'd suite. Other than him turning out to be a scammer (didn't scam me, just apparently everybody else he's ever met), I still had pretty good times.

**also for those of you that are going to be here around the time of the actual 2p2 party, go to that. It's awesome and there's plenty of dudes you can high five and do moose stuff with.

Going solo to Vegas is like working out by yourself, you can focus on the things you want and need to do.

People in this thread complaining about traveling with loved ones instead of solo must have some very non-understanding loved ones.
