Heading to vegas for a poker trip on Labour Day Weekend solo.

Should I be at all worried about my safety while walking the strip solo late at night or anything like that?

Any other tips or things to watch our for as a solo?

No... come on. you will be okay. Just don't go down any dark alleys and keep your wits about you. Best to keep your cash and ID in your front pocket or secure pack/backpack.

I am solo everyday.

Yeah you'll be fine. I'm sure there will be many people in your same situation. I will be solo as well for about 3 wks in June.

I've gone to Vegas tons of times by myself (Married father of three) because none of my close friends like to play poker. If you're on the strip or in the Rio/Palms/Gold Coast area, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Because it's a town that "never sleeps", you're probably safer than most places that roll up the carpets about midnight. I'll be there "solo" from 6/20-24.

I've done it once and it was one of my favorite trips out of the 10 I've had. I will definitely do it again.

Vegas solo is great. Especially when crushing at poker. You can play as long as you want, wherever you want, etc.

But, if you are losing either at poker or in the pit and walk away from the tables, all you see is everyone else around you having the time of their lives.

Until you make friends with these people, and start having the time of your life.

So yeah, Vegas solo is great.

^This 100%. Some of my best trips have been solo. You're not on anyone else's agenda and can come and go as you please. Meeting new people is easy at the tables.

Just be aware of your surroundings like you would be in any other large city and you'll be fine.

I am all for a SOLO group meet somewhere. I'll be in Vegas solo next Friday for the entire month of June, probably longer so if any of you want to meet up for drinks, let's do it.

From a poker playing aspect, going solo has it's pluses, you can spend as much time as you want playing. Some of the social needs can be meet by striking up conversations at the table.

You mentioned safety. If you're sticking the strip, you should be fine. I wouldn't walk off the strip much late at night. For example, if I'm staying at Hard Rock, walking from the strip to the hotel could get a little sketchy. This especially true if I was a solo female.

But overall, should be safe. Some of the casinos are connected and that can keep you off the strip if it's a concern.

Have fun

Plus it's easier to sneak off to the jack shack.

RIO. I promised myself I wouldn't stay there again after two bad experiences with hotel staff but I just can't resist not having to take a taxi or walk. I'd have got a room at the Gold Coast if they had any available.

I have done the past 4 trips solo, and had an awesome time each trip. Stay midstrip and you are easy walking distance everywhere. Have fun! I am headed out there again in August, can't wait!

As others have mentioned going solo has its perks, mainly being free to do whatever you want.

I took my first ever trip to Vegas last July with 2 other people and it was just too much trying to keep up with everyone's plans. Someone wanted to visit a certain casino, see a show, eat at a certain place, etc.. It seemed like everyone missed out on something on that trip. I personally didn't even have time to play a hand of poker on my first trip to Vegas!!!

About a week after getting back home I already had my 2nd trip booked for November, but this time I was going solo.. I had a much better time, playing lots of poker and playing in every room I wanted to visit.

As far as safety goes, I wouldn't worry. Just stick to places with lots of traffic during off hours and don't do anything stupid. Make friends with strangers and chat them up, but decline if they suddenly offer you a ride to your hotel or a line a blow. Know how much you can handle drinking and stuff like that. You will be fine. If I had to pick a spot to be alone at 3am walking down the street, I can't think of a much safer place than the strip.

I visited Vegas earlier this year solo. No problem whatsoever, lots of homeless people on the strip at night but they don't bother you if you don't bother them.
I even walked solo down Freemont Street 2.30 in the morning and waited for the bus at the bus stop south of Heartattack Grill place. That may be a littel too much to recommend but as said above, as long as you use your street-smartness nothing will happen...

I usually go with a group but always stay a few days longer by myself or get there earlier, so when friends are there. I just say I can do whatever y'all want to cause I have plenty of time on my own to do my thing. Vegas is probably the only vacation destination I can have a good time by myself or even have a better time by myself. Eating dinner alone kinda sucks, but my first trip I just ate at the bar at The Buffet in Bellagio, got to know the bartender well and enjoyed it. Its also great if you hook up with a girl or whatever, no judges or friends in your business
