Gl OP, have a great time. Flamingo is well placed on the Strip.

Try some different rooms, B, V & Aria for definite. Try the Café in the middle of the Wynn gaming floor for a good burger.

Agree with the person who said you should have waited for the WSOP, but you should have a great time.

Good luck man. I'll be out there from the 11th-15th. I'll be next door to you at the Quad (unfortunately). I went last month and played at Aria, Venetian, and Bellagio which were all awesome.

Like someone else said, Flamingo is in a great spot on the strip with a nice short walk to aria and bellagio.

Yeah the location was the main factor in booking, as well as the cost. As for waiting for the WSOP time, when booking it completely slipped my mind - but i dont expect it to make any difference in the amount of fun i have.

Those are the rooms im most looking forward to playing in. I dont know if im hesitant to hold off on the Aria and Bellagio at first though due to them running 1/3 instead of 1/2 which over the first few days could make a bit of difference if i initially run bad considering my total gambling + food budget will only be around $5000.

Im now heading out to my local cardroom, was going to go last night but decided to chill at home and watch England give the usual weak performance. Going to pick up a copy of the latest Bluff, Cardplayer etc when im at the casino for some reading material on the potentially mind numbing 10h 45m flight. Winning another bad beat jackpot would come in handy.....

Dream the dream. Much love.

Do what you feel is best obviously but the 1/3 isn't that much of a difference. Variance is still super low at that level. Aria and Bellagio 1/3 was softer than Venetian 1/2 when I was there lolsamplesize.

But enjoy yourself. It's a good time. You basically described me in your OP. I went to Vegas and no hookers or blow, no foodie pics or even regular pics. I only drank like twice and it was only 2 rum and cokes after poker at dinner. Everyone I knew was like htf do you go to Vegas and not take any pics?? Guess I really don't care if people on FB don't get to see nasty food pics and pics of hotels you can look up on google. Rofl. I'm there for me, not Facebook.

I'll keep up with this thread. Maybe we will run into each other. May the run good flow through us.

Just got back from the pokerz. Was never really up or down more than 25-30 big blinds, until the last hand. Down to four handed, i raise on the button with two black jacks, flop comes 246r, checked to me i bet out just over half, fold and one call. Turn is a J of diamonds, he checks i bet around three quarters, he calls. River is a Queen - no flush possible. He leads into me for around a quarter of the pot....i dont have much left so im all in and he takes about 20 seconds asks if im all in twice......seemingly reluctantly calls, sees my set of jacks, looks back at board and says "i have the straight".

I get up, grab a copy of Bluff and Cardplayer on my way out the door for plane reading material and hope im that lucky when im dealt my first hand in Vegas.

Yep solo. To be honest going to Vegas has been such a strong dream as i have described that i would want to just experience it all by myself first time around. I have friends who have mentioned wanting to go, but none of them really play poker so it just made sense to make this trip on my own.

I was hoping at this point you were going to say you beat the slow-rolling douche repeatedly about the head with said magazines.
Good luck in Vegas!

Must be all the online players taking a stand and staying away from the V.

And yes, I know you'd said V was the tougher game. 8-)

Monday morning around 5am i will be leaving for the airport. However, this will not be a live trip report. I wanted to create this topic before leaving because i felt it would feel more genuine to read this way. I will return home to England on the 21st with a notepad full of........notes. Then i will start putting it together in this thread day by day.

Thats the plan, unless of course i lose my entire bankroll within the first few days. If that happens then i will try and find a spare pc with an internet connection and ask for advice from the folks of LVL about the best spots to sleep in the tunnels.

Wouldn't it of been cheaper to fly from Manchester if you're in the Midlands?
I thought direct flights were slightly cheaper than Heathrow or Gatwick

I never looked at manchester to be honest, my bad. Im still very happy with the price though, £605 total. It was actually thanks to a user who answered some questions in the quick questions sticky that i was able to find the cheaper dates to fly on.

Question: Im hearing that Serendipity close to Caesars is closed but i cant find anything about it on their website. Does anyone know if its true or not?

The wait is over. After ending this post i will climb into bed for a few hours sleep (or hopelessly thinking of whats to come) and awaken to begin the most anticipated day of my life to date. Time has built up to this moment and its a mix of excitement and stress that i dont think will properly settle until two or three days into my stay. Weirdly as i write this im more interested in how i will feel sitting back here in 11 days time more than anything else, being able to look back on these words im writing now when i return.

...If you see it once, you'll never be the same again

I hope.

Burger Brasserie has a pretty damn good burger. It's just inside the indoor walkway between Bally's and Paris. Pretty sure you'll get a $5 coupon when you check into Flamingo for there as well. Welcome to the U.S. and good luck!

Man you needed to take more than a magazine for the flight and I would think it is closer to 12 hours going out that 10.

Gl, have a great time, Vegas for the first time is something special for a poker enthusiast.

Hey,

Just wanted you to know i am really looking forward to your TR since you left. Ill be heading out to Vegas at the start of may for a week and will be doing pretty much what you have done. I will also be going solo and Will appreciate your thoughts on what it was like. Also can you put a little bit in about the flight? I am also flying with virgin and would love to here your experiance with them?

I have flown Virgin several times to the US including Vegas, I find the service is good with them.

If you are in economy they will probably run out of booze on the way out, if you are in premium or upper that wont happen.

The entertainment systems are ok and the food is airline food, ok not stellar.

Overall I enjoy flying with them. Check in on line to make it easier and if you can manage it try to just take hand luggage, for a week solo in Vegas I can usually manage that including taking my laptop!
