Cheapest... In Vegas? Cheapest... In Vegas?

I'm a man that a prided himself on living on the cheap. Cheap hotels, cheap (but good) food, cheap entertainment.

I have never been to Vegas. Can some people clue me in to a Las Vegas Lifestyle on the cheap?

Cheapest Hotels?
Cheapest or Local Groceries?
Cheapest place to relax by a pool?
Cheapest restaurants?

I don't care about quality at this point, I'm looking for benchmarks on what truly is a good deal in Vegas.

There's absolutely no threads on this, it's never been asked before and you could in no way gleam any form of information by using the search functions in this forum.

Excellent new thread.

1. IP, Wild Wild West, Excal. Any ****hole downtown
2. Smiths, Food 4 Less
3. If you're a local go to the Palms during the week, it's free to get in, bring your own bottle of water.
4. Palace Station Buffet, a lot of places have coupons for BOGO, Locals eat for half price at the Rio buffet with ID (both of these buffets suck balls IMO)

Ellis Island has great food. About a five minute walk east of Ballys/Bills on Koval.

There is a 7.99 steak special (great steak, potato, green beans, beer) in the main cafe. There is also great deals in the BBQ place (less than $10 for ribs, cole slaw, beans, toast and $2 brewhouse beers).

This is good quality food, so I'm not sure it meets your question.

$1 oysters at PJ Clarkes in the forum shoppes at happy hour.

Again, this is high quality. Not sure if it meets what you are looking for.

Believe it or not I actually used the search function and saw no new thread about Vegas on the cheap.

And thanks for being such a good sport.

For reals though, how cheap do you want to go?
Ie) You can go IP cheap...or you can stay at the Motel 6 across the room frmo MGM

Cheapest way to eat is to get comp dollars and eat at the poker table...

Or you can be even cheaper like me..... f'ck, I even bring my own bananas etc to the poker table to eat....

Restaurants are all "cheap" if you are eating with your comp dollars.... and also cheap when you are paying for them with the money you won from the donkey in the 3rd seat.

Cheers,

S

To give you an idea: I spent a weekend in Atlantic city on a $30 food budget for the trip. managed to do quite a bit , and yeah I brought most of my own food (hot pockets snacks fruits) with me. i'll be taking a little bit more for this trip, but I'm doing my best to cut as much costs as possible. I also won't likely be going for nearly a year as well.

The reason why I talk this way, is because my poker bankroll is all together when I take these trips. All my food, expenses, hotel etc come out of that. So the less I pay for non poker related things, the more money I have to work with at the table.

I live in upstate NY, so it will be quite an expense to get down there, so any cuts i can make will make my life easier.

You can eat fairly cheaply at the food fairs in say the Venetian and Caesars and the food is decent.

If you are willing to walk to it Ellis Island it could be a very cheap way to eat all you meals. You could mix it up by going to the Hard Rock for Mr. Lucky's for the off menu 7.99 steak dinner with potato, veggie, side salad etc.

It might not be the absolute cheapest but given the location in the middle of the strip the Imperial Palace is probably your best bet.

RR, i heard that Hard Rock deal was like an off/after hours deal?

OP, if you're gonna be in the HR and Tuscany area try out Terrible's casino...they got $9.99 Prime Rib, NY Strip and Sirloin with veggies and potato...ive been there to have this, had the PR once and it was good (price point considered obv) and Ive also had the Sirloin and NY Strip about 3 or 4 times each...they were good each time minus once when a NY strip was chewy as hell! if you go to terrible's i suggest ordering your meat cooked a step below you would really like it cuz they will over cook it from what you order, i.e. tell em to cook it medium if you want it medium/well

GL OP! you're good in my book because you didn't get all sandy vagina'd when we gave you a hard time about making a fairly generic thread!

The Hard Rock $7.77 deal is 24/7, you just have to ask for it. Last time I got it I was not impressed, it used to be a very good deal/meal, now, not so much.

I used to eat it all the time, and always found it to be a pretty good deal. I haven't been to hard rock since last summer though. Sucks to hear the deal got worse.

Even bills used to have a cheap steak and egg special, that i now believe is 7.99 or something after midnight. Boo that

also, I think the rio buffet is decent when it's only half off. Hard to beat all you can eat crab legs, prime rib, and duck for $15. The duck is rarely great, but if you get it right when it comes out, it can be pretty decent (again this is all in relation to the money, it's obviously not going to be the #1 buffet in town, but you're spending 1/3 the amount)

If you go to AC, get a total rewards card and see what offers you get. You can check your account on the TR website.

Rooms can be your biggest expense, but free nights are a fairly low threshold comp.

It is always cheaper to stay on weekdays then weekends, so one might stay downtown or off strip on the weekend but on the strip for the weekdays. Cheapest on the strip
is a IP Capri room. (But I don't know the current situation with the new construction.)
Tuscany is not a bad choice there is a bus stop near it and the 202 BUS runs up and down flamingo should not want to walk. (2$). On the opposite side from Tuscany on Flamingo a couple of blocks towards further way from the strip is a little strip mall with a great mom&pop Italian restaurant that is reasonable. There is a subway sandwich shop in Casino Royal. It is actually cheaper to buy bottled water/soft drink from a Wal-greens or ABC store than to tip a waitress a buck for a small bottle at the poker table. (Even cheaper to refill your bottle at your hotel room or at a bar.) There is a Wal-greens next to the Venetian where you can also buy other snacks, etc. Fashion show mall has a food court which has inexpensive vendors.

"Cheapness often requires walking out of your way."

Oh and I did see a lady pull up a decorative cabbage from one of The Caesars gardens and proceed to eat it.
